1 Remember, O LORD, what has befallen us, look, and see our disgrace:	1 ¡Recuerda Señor, lo que nos ha sucedido, mira y contempla nuestro oprobio!
2 Our inherited lands have been turned over to strangers, our homes to foreigners.	2 Nuestra herencia pasó a manos de extranjeros, nuestras casas, a manos de extraños.
3 We have become orphans, fatherless; widowed are our mothers.	3 Estamos huérfanos, sin padre, nuestras madres son como viudas.
4 The water we drink we must buy, for our own wood we must pay.	4 Tenemos que pagar el agua que bebemos, la leña nos cuesta dinero.
5 On our necks is the yoke of those who drive us; we are worn out, but allowed no rest.	5 Somos empujados con el yugo al cuello, estamos fatigados, no nos dan respiro.
6 To Egypt we submitted, and to Assyria, to fill our need of bread.	6 Tendemos las manos hacia Egipto, hacia Asiria, para saciarnos de pan.
7 Our fathers, who sinned, are no more; but we bear their guilt.	7 Nuestros padres pecaron, y ya no existen: nosotros cargamos con sus culpas.
8 Slaves rule over us; there is no one to rescue us from their hands.	8 Estamos dominados por esclavos y nadie nos arranca de sus manos.
9 At the peril of our lives we bring in our sustenance, in the face of the desert heat;	9 Arriesgamos la vida para conseguir nuestro pan, afrontando la espada del desierto.
10 Our skin is shriveled up, as though by a furnace, with the searing blasts of famine.	10 Nuestra piel quema como un horno, por los ardores del hambre.
11 The wives in Zion were ravished by the enemy, the maidens in the cities of Judah;	11 Han violado a las mujeres en Sión, a las vírgenes en las ciudades de Judá.
12 Princes were gibbeted by them, elders shown no respect.	12 Los príncipes fueron colgados de las manos, no se respetó la dignidad de los ancianos.
13 The youths carry the millstones, boys stagger under their loads of wood;	13 Los jóvenes arrastraron la piedra de moler, los niños se doblaron bajo el peso de la leña.
14 The old men have abandoned the gate, the young men their music.	14 Los ancianos ya no acuden a la puerta de la ciudad, los jóvenes ya no tocan sus cítaras.
15 The joy of our hearts has ceased, our dance has turned into mourning;	15 Cesó la alegría de nuestro corazón, nuestra danza se ha cambiado en luto.
16 The garlands have fallen from our heads: woe to us, for we have sinned!	16 Se ha caído la corona de nuestras cabezas: ¡ay de nosotros, porque hemos pecado!
17 Over this our hearts are sick, at this our eyes grow dim:	17 Por esto nuestro corazón está dolorido, por esto se nublan nuestros ojos:
18 That Mount Zion should be desolate, with jackals roaming there!	18 porque el monte Sión está desolado y los zorros se pasean por él.
19 You, O LORD, are enthroned forever; your throne stands from age to age.	19 Pero tú, Señor, reinas para siempre, tu trono permanece eternamente.
20 Why, then, should you forget us, abandon us so long a time?	20 ¿Por qué nos tendrás siempre olvidados y nos abandonarás toda la vida?
21 Lead us back to you, O LORD, that we may be restored: give us anew such days as we had of old.	21 ¡Vuélvenos hacia ti, Señor, y volveremos: renueva nuestros días como en los tiempos pasados!
22 For now you have indeed rejected us, and in full measure turned your wrath against us.	22 ¿O es que nos has desechado completamente y te has irritado con nosotros sin medida?
