Psalms 73

1 A psalm of Asaph. How good God is to the upright, the Lord, to those who are clean of heart!	1 'Salmo. Di Asaf.' Quanto è buono Dio con i giusti, con gli uomini dal cuore puro!
2 I But, as for me, I lost my balance; my feet all but slipped,	2 Per poco non inciampavano i miei piedi, per un nulla vacillavano i miei passi,
3 Because I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.	3 perché ho invidiato i prepotenti, vedendo la prosperità dei malvagi.
4 For they suffer no pain; their bodies are healthy and sleek.	4 Non c'è sofferenza per essi, sano e pasciuto è il loro corpo.
5 They are free of the burdens of life; they are not afflicted like others.	5 Non conoscono l'affanno dei mortali e non sono colpiti come gli altri uomini.
6 Thus pride adorns them as a necklace; violence clothes them as a robe.	6 Dell'orgoglio si fanno una collana e la violenza è il loro vestito.
7 Out of their stupidity comes sin; evil thoughts flood their hearts.	7 Esce l'iniquità dal loro grasso, dal loro cuore traboccano pensieri malvagi.
8 They scoff and spout their malice; from on high they utter threats.	8 Scherniscono e parlano con malizia, minacciano dall'alto con prepotenza.
9 They set their mouths against the heavens, their tongues roam the earth.	9 Levano la loro bocca fino al cielo e la loro lingua percorre la terra.
10 So my people turn to them and drink deeply of their words.	10 Perciò seggono in alto, non li raggiunge la piena delle acque.
11 They say, "Does God really know?" "Does the Most High have any knowledge?"	11 Dicono: "Come può saperlo Dio? C'è forse conoscenza nell'Altissimo?".
12 Such, then, are the wicked, always carefree, increasing their wealth.	12 Ecco, questi sono gli empi: sempre tranquilli, ammassano ricchezze.
13 Is it in vain that I have kept my heart clean, washed my hands in innocence?	13 Invano dunque ho conservato puro il mio cuore e ho lavato nell'innocenza le mie mani,
14 For I am afflicted day after day, chastised every morning.	14 poiché sono colpito tutto il giorno, e la mia pena si rinnova ogni mattina.
15 Had I thought, "I will speak as they do," I would have betrayed your people.	15 Se avessi detto: "Parlerò come loro", avrei tradito la generazione dei tuoi figli.
16 Though I tried to understand all this, it was too difficult for me,	16 Riflettevo per comprendere: ma fu arduo agli occhi miei,
17 Till I entered the sanctuary of God and came to understand their end.	17 finché non entrai nel santuario di Dio e compresi qual è la loro fine.
18 You set them, indeed, on a slippery road; you hurl them down to ruin.	18 Ecco, li poni in luoghi scivolosi, li fai precipitare in rovina.
19 How suddenly they are devastated; undone by disasters forever!	19 Come sono distrutti in un istante, sono finiti, periscono di spavento!
20 They are like a dream after waking, Lord, dismissed like shadows when you arise.	20 Come un sogno al risveglio, Signore, quando sorgi, fai svanire la loro immagine.
21 Since my heart was embittered and my soul deeply wounded,	21 Quando si agitava il mio cuore e nell'intimo mi tormentavo,
22 I was stupid and could not understand; I was like a brute beast in your presence.	22 io ero stolto e non capivo, davanti a te stavo come una bestia.
23 Yet I am always with you; you take hold of my right hand.	23 Ma io sono con te sempre: tu mi hai preso per la mano destra.
24 With your counsel you guide me, and at the end receive me with honor.	24 Mi guiderai con il tuo consiglio e poi mi accoglierai nella tua gloria.
25 Whom else have I in the heavens? None beside you delights me on earth.	25 Chi altri avrò per me in cielo? Fuori di te nulla bramo sulla terra.
26 Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the rock of my heart, my portion forever.	26 Vengono meno la mia carne e il mio cuore; ma la roccia del mio cuore è Dio, è Dio la mia sorte per sempre.
27 But those who are far from you perish; you destroy those unfaithful to you.	27 Ecco, perirà chi da te si allontana, tu distruggi chiunque ti è infedele.
28 As for me, to be near God is my good, to make the Lord GOD my refuge. I shall declare all your works in the gates of daughter Zion.	28 Il mio bene è stare vicino a Dio: nel Signore Dio ho posto il mio rifugio, per narrare tutte le tue opere presso le porte della città di Sion.
