A song of ascents. Happy are all who fear the LORD, who walk in the ways of God.1 A Canticle in steps. They have often fought against me from my youth, let Israel now say:
What your hands provide you will enjoy; you will be happy and prosper:2 they have often fought against me from my youth, yet they could not prevail over me.
Like a fruitful vine your wife within your home, Like olive plants your children around your table.3 The sinners have made fabrications behind my back. They have prolonged their iniquity.
Just so will they be blessed who fear the LORD.4 The just Lord will cut the necks of sinners.
May the LORD bless you from Zion, all the days of your life That you may share Jerusalem's joy5 Let all those who hate Zion be confounded and turned backwards.
and live to see your children's children. Peace upon Israel!6 Let them be like grass on the rooftops, which withers before it can be pulled up:
with it, he who reaps does not fill his hand and he who gathers sheaves does not fill his bosom.
And those who were passing by have not said to them: “The blessing of the Lord be upon you. We have blessed you in the name of the Lord.”
