1 Elisha once said to the woman whose son he had restored to life: "Get ready! Leave with your family and settle wherever you can, because the LORD has decreed a seven-year famine which is coming upon the land."	1 Eliseo dijo a la mujer cuyo hijo había revivido: «Anda, tú y tu familia, ve a residir donde puedas, porque el Señor decretó siete años de hambruna sobre el país y ya han comenzado».
2 The woman got ready and did as the man of God said, setting out with her family and settling in the land of the Philistines for seven years.	2 Hizo la mujer conforme a la palabra del hombre de Dios y ella y su familia se fueron a vivir a la tierra de los filisteos por siete años,
3 At the end of the seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went out to the king to claim her house and her field.	3 al cabo de los cuales regresaron de la tierra de los filisteos y fue la mujer a quejarse ante el rey por su casa y su campo.
4 The king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. "Tell me," he said, "all the great things that Elisha has done."	4 El rey se encontraba hablando con Guejazí, criado del hombre de Dios, y le insistía: «Cuéntame todas las maravillas que hacía Eliseo».
5 Just as he was relating to the king how his master had restored a dead person to life, the very woman whose son Elisha had restored to life came to the king to claim her house and field. "My lord king," Gehazi said, "this is the woman, and this is that son of hers whom Elisha restored to life."	5 Mientras él relataba al rey cómo devolvió el niño muerto a la vida, la mujer cuyo hijo había vuelto a la vida apareció quejándose por causa de su casa y su campo. Guejazí dijo entonces: «¡Rey, mi señor! Esta es la mujer y este su hijo, al que Eliseo devolvió a la vida».
6 The king questioned the woman, and she told him her story. With that the king placed an official at her disposal, saying, "Restore all her property to her, with all that the field produced from the day she left the land until now."	6 El rey preguntó a la mujer y ella narró su historia. Entonces puso el rey un eunuco a disposición de la mujer con la siguiente orden: «Devuélvele todo lo que le pertenece y las rentas de su campo, desde el día en que dejó el país hasta ahora».
7 Elisha came to Damascus at a time when Ben-hadad, king of Aram, lay sick. When he was told that the man of God had come there,	7 Eliseo fue a Damasco cuando Ben Hadad, rey de Siria, se encontraba enfermo. Entonces dieron aviso al rey: «El hombre de Dios viene de camino hacia aquí».
8 the king said to Hazael, "Take a gift with you and go call on the man of God. Have him consult the LORD as to whether I shall recover from this sickness."	8 Y el rey instó a Jazael: «Coge en tu mano un regalo, ve al encuentro del hombre de Dios y consulta al Señor a través de él, diciendo: “¿Sobreviviré a esta enfermedad?”».
9 Hazael went to visit him, carrying a present, and with forty camel loads of the best goods of Damascus. On his arrival, he stood before the prophet and said, "Your son Ben-hadad, king of Aram, has sent me to ask you whether he will recover from his sickness."	9 Jazael fue a su encuentro, llevando como regalo la carga de cuarenta camellos con todo lo mejor de Damasco. Entró, se detuvo ante él y dijo: «Tu hijo, Ben Hadad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado a ti para preguntarte: “¿Sobreviviré a esta enfermedad?”».
10 "Go and tell him," Elisha answered, "that he will surely recover. However, the LORD has showed me that he will in fact die."	10 Respondió Eliseo: «Ve y dile: “Sobrevivirás”. Pero el Señor me ha revelado que morirá sin remedio».
11 Then he stared him down until Hazael became ill at ease. The man of God wept,	11 Al hombre de Dios se le quedó el rostro totalmente rígido durante largo tiempo y luego se echó a llorar.
12 and Hazael asked, "Why are you weeping, my lord?" Elisha replied, "Because I know the evil that you will inflict upon the Israelites. You will burn their fortresses, you will slay their youth with the sword, you will dash their little children to pieces, you will rip open their pregnant women."	12 Le preguntó Jazael: «¿Por qué llora mi señor?». Él respondió: «Porque sé el mal que vas a hacer a los hijos de Israel: pondrás fuego a sus fortalezas, matarás a sus jóvenes a espada, despedazarás a sus pequeñuelos y hasta has de abrir el vientre a sus embarazadas».
13 Hazael exclaimed, "How can a dog like me, your servant, do anything so important?" "The LORD has showed you to me as king over Aram," replied Elisha.	13 Entonces Jazael volvió a preguntar: «¿Cómo puede tu servidor, siendo como es un perro, hacer algo tan grande?». A lo que Eliseo respondió: «Me ha mostrado el Señor una visión en la que tú eres el rey de Siria».
14 Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. "What did Elisha tell you?" asked Ben-hadad. "He told me that you would surely recover," replied Hazael.	14 Dejando a Eliseo regresó ante su señor, que le preguntó: «¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo?». Él respondió: «Me ha dicho que sobrevivirás».
15 The next day, however, Hazael took a cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it over the king's face, so that he died. And Hazael reigned in his stead.	15 A la mañana siguiente, Jazael tomó una manta, la empapó en agua y presionó con ella la cara (del rey) hasta que se asfixió. Luego le sucedió en el trono.
16 In the fifth year of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, became king.	16 El año quinto de Jorán, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, inició su reinado Jorán, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Tenía treinta y dos años cuando inició su reinado y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.
18 He conducted himself like the kings of Israel of the line of Ahab, since the sister of Ahab was his wife; and he did evil in the LORD'S sight.	18 Los reyes de Israel siguieron los pasos de la casa de Ajab, pues se casó con una mujer de la familia de Ajab e hizo el mal a los ojos del Señor.
19 Even so, the LORD was unwilling to destroy Judah, because of his servant David. For he had promised David that he would leave him a lamp in the LORD'S presence for all time.	19 Mas no quiso el Señor destruir a Judá en atención a David su servidor, conforme a la promesa que le hizo de darle una lámpara a sus hijos para siempre.
20 During Jehoram's reign, Edom revolted against the sovereignty of Judah and chose a king of its own.	20 En su tiempo Edón se rebeló contra el poder de Judá y se dieron un rey propio.
21 Thereupon Jehoram with all his chariots crossed over to Zair. He arose by night and broke through the Edomites when they had surrounded him and the commanders of his chariots. Then his army fled homeward.	21 Jorán partió hacia Seír a luchar con todos sus carros y, aunque se levantó por la noche derrotando a los edomitas que lo cercaban a él y a los jefes de los carros, su ejército huyó a sus tiendas.
22 To this day Edom has been in revolt against the rule of Judah. Libnah also revolted at that time.	22 Edón se independizó así del poder de Judá, hasta el día de hoy. También se rebeló Libná en aquel tiempo.

24 Jehoram rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. His son Ahaziah succeeded him as king.	24 Jorán se durmió luego con sus padres y fue sepultado junto a sus padres en la ciudad de David. Le sucedió en el trono Ocozías, su hijo.
25 Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, became king in the twelfth year of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel.	25 El año doce de Jorán, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, inició su reinado Ocozías, hijo de Jorán, rey de Judá.
26 He was twenty-two years old when he began his reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah; she was daughter of Omri, king of Israel.	26 Ocozías tenía veintidós años cuando inició su reinado y reinó un año en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Atalía, hija de Omrí, rey de Israel.
27 He conducted himself like the house of Ahab, doing evil in the LORD'S sight as they did, since he was related to them by marriage.	27 Siguió también los pasos de la casa de Ajab e hizo el mal a los ojos del Señor como la casa de Ajab, pues había emparentado con ella.
28 He joined Joram, son of Ahab, in battle against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead, where the Arameans wounded Joram.	28 Partió Ocozías con Jorán, hijo de Ajab, en guerra contra Jazael, monarca de Siria, en Ramot de Galaad, pero los arameos hirieron a Jorán.
29 King Joram returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah in his battle against Hazael, king of Aram. Then Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visit him there in his illness.	29 Regresó Jorán a Yezrael para curarse de las heridas que le habían hecho los arameos en Ramot luchando contra Jazael, monarca de Siria. Y Ocozías, hijo de Jorán, rey de Judá, bajó a Yezrael a visitar a Jorán, hijo de Ajab, cuando estaba enfermo.
