1 Azariah, son of Amaziah, king of Judah, became king in the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam, king of Israel.	1 Im siebenundzwanzigsten Jahr Jerobeams, des Königs von Israel, wurde Asarja, der Sohn Amazjas, König von Juda.
2 He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother, whose name was Jecholiah, was from Jerusalem.	2 Er war sechzehn Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte zweiundfünfzig Jahre in Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Jecholja und stammte aus Jerusalem.

5 The LORD afflicted the king, and he was a leper to the day of his death. 10 Shallum, son of Jabesh, conspired against Zechariah, attacked and killed him at Ibleam, and reigned in his place.	10 Gegen ihn zettelte Schallum, der Sohn des Jabesch, eine Verschwörung an; er erschlug ihn in Jibleam und wurde König an seiner Stelle.

12 Thus the LORD'S promise to Jehu, "Your descendants to the fourth generation shall sit upon the throne of Israel," was fulfilled.	12 So erfüllte sich das Wort, das der Herr zu Jehu gesprochen hatte: Nachkommen von dir sollen bis in das vierte Geschlecht auf dem Thron Israels sitzen. 13 Shallum, son of Jabesh, became king in the thirty-ninth year of Uzziah, king of Judah; he reigned one month in Samaria.	13 Im neununddreißigsten Jahr Usijas, des Königs von Juda, wurde Schallum, der Sohn des Jabesch, König und regierte einen Monat in Samaria.
14 Menahem, son of Gadi, came up from Tirzah to Samaria, where he attacked and killed Shallum, son of Jabesh, and reigned in his place.	14 Gegen ihn zog Menahem, der Sohn Gadis, von Tirza heran, kam nach Samaria, erschlug Schallum, den Sohn des Jabesch, in Samaria und wurde König an seiner Stelle.

16 At that time, Menahem punished Tappuah, all the inhabitants of the town and of its whole district, because on his way from Tirzah they did not let him in. He punished them even to ripping open all the pregnant women.	16 Damals eroberte Menahem von Tirza aus die Stadt Tifsach und tötete alle Bewohner der Stadt und ihrer Umgebung, weil sie ihm die Tore nicht geöffnet hatten. 18 He did evil in the sight of the LORD, not desisting from the sins which Jeroboam, son of Nebat, had caused Israel to commit. During his reign,	18 und tat, was dem Herrn missfiel; er ließ nicht von den Sünden ab, zu denen Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, Israel verführt hatte.
19 Pul, king of Assyria, invaded the land, and Menahem gave him a thousand talents of silver to have his assistance in strengthening his hold on the kingdom.	19 In seinen Tagen kam Pul, der König von Assur, in das Land. Menahem gab ihm tausend Talente Silber, damit er ihm helfe, seine Herrschaft zu festigen.
20 Menahem secured the money to give to the king of Assyria by exacting it from all the men of substance in the country, fifty silver shekels from each. The king of Assyria did not remain in the country but withdrew.	20 Um das Geld dem König von Assur abliefern zu können, musste er den wohlhabenden Männern in Israel eine Steuer auferlegen; fünfzig Silberschekel kamen auf jeden. 25 His adjutant Pekah, son of Remaliah, who had with him fifty men from Gilead, conspired against him, killed him within the palace stronghold in Samaria, and reigned in his place.	25 Gegen ihn zettelte sein Adjutant Pekach, der Sohn Remaljas, eine Verschwörung an und erschlug ihn im Wohnturm des königlichen Palastes in Samaria . . . 29 During the reign of Pekah, king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, came and took Ijon, Abel-beth-maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, all the territory of Naphtali, Gilead, and Galilee, deporting the inhabitants to Assyria.	29 In den Tagen Pekachs, des Königs von Israel, zog Tiglat-Pileser, der König von Assur, heran. Er eroberte Ijon, Abel-Bet-Maacha, Janoach, Kedesch, Hazor, Gilead, Galiläa, das ganze Land Naftali, und verschleppte ihre Bewohner nach Assur.
30 Hoshea, son of Elah, conspired against Pekah, son of Remaliah; he attacked and killed him, and reigned in his place (in the twentieth year of Jotham, son of Uzziah).	30 Hoschea aber, der Sohn Elas, zettelte eine Verschwörung gegen Pekach, den Sohn Remaljas, an. 33 He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jerusha, daughter of Zadok.	33 Er war fünfundzwanzig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte sechzehn Jahre in Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Jeruscha und war eine Tochter Zadoks.

35 Nevertheless the high places did not disappear and the people continued to sacrifice and to burn incense on them. It was he who built the Upper Gate of the temple of the LORD.	35 Nur die Kulthöhen verschwanden nicht. Das Volk brachte noch Schlacht- und Rauchopfer auf ihnen dar. Er baute das obere Tor am Haus des Herrn.

37 It was at that time that the LORD first loosed Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, against Judah.	37 In jenen Tagen begann der Herr, Rezin, den König von Aram, und Pekach, den Sohn Remaljas, gegen Juda ziehen zu lassen.
38 Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in his forefather's City of David. His son Ahaz succeeded him as king.	38 Jotam aber entschlief zu seinen Vätern und wurde bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt seines Vaters David begraben. Sein Sohn Ahas wurde König an seiner Stelle.
