1 לכן אם יש תוכחה במשיח אם תנחומות האהבה אם התחברות הרוח אם רחמים וחמלה	1 So if in Christ there is anything that will move you, any incentive in love, any fel owship in the Spirit, anywarmth or sympathy -- I appeal to you,
2 השלימו נא את שמחתי בהיות לכם לב אחד ואהבה אחת ונפש אחת ורצון אחד	2 make my joy complete by being of a single mind, one in love, one in heart and one in mind.
3 ולא תעשו דבר בדרך מריבה או כבוד שוא כי אם בשפלות רוח תחשבו איש את רעהו יותר מעצמו	3 Nothing is to be done out of jealousy or vanity; instead, out of humility of mind everyone should givepreference to others,
4 כל אחד אל ידאג לאשר לו לבדו כי אם גם לאשר לחברו	4 everyone pursuing not selfish interests but those of others.
5 כי הרוח ההיא אשר היתה במשיח תהי גם בכם	5 Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:
6 אשר אף כי היה בדמות האלהים לא חשב לו לשלל היותו שוה לאלהים	6 Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped.
7 כי אם הפשיט את עצמו וילבש דמות עבד וידמה לבני אדם וימצא בתכונתו כבן אדם	7 But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in everyway like a human being,
8 וישפל את נפשו ויכנע עד מות עד מיתת הצליבה	8 he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.
9 על כן גם האלהים הגביהו מאד ויתן לו שם נעלה על כל שם	9 And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above al other names;
10 למען אשר בשם ישוע תכרע כל ברך אשר בשמים ובארץ ומתחת לארץ	10 so that al beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name ofJesus
11 וכל לשון תודה כי אדון הוא ישוע המשיח לכבוד אלהים האב	11 and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 לכן חביבי כאשר שמעתם לי בכל עת כן לא לבד בהיותי עמכם כי עוד יתר עתה אשר אני רחוק מכם תיגעו בתשועת נפשתיכם ביראה וברעדה	12 So, my dear friends, you have always been obedient; your obedience must not be limited to timeswhen I am present. Now that I am absent it must be more in evidence, so work out your salvation in fear andtrembling.
13 כי האלהים הוא הפעל בכם גם לחפץ גם לפעל כפי רצונו	13 It is God who, for his own generous purpose, gives you the intention and the powers to act.
14 עשו כל דבר בלא תלנות ובלא מזמות	14 Let your behaviour be free of murmuring and complaining
15 למען תהיו נקיים וטהורים בני אלהים לא מום בם בתוך דור עקש ופתלתל אשר תאירו ביניהם כמאורת בעולם	15 so that you remain faultless and pure, unspoilt children of God surrounded by a deceitful andunderhand brood, shining out among them like bright stars in the world,
16 מחזיקים בדבר החיים לתהלה לי ביום המשיח אשר לא לחנם רצתי ולא לריק יגעתי	16 proffering to it the Word of life. Then I shall have reason to be proud on the Day of Christ, for it wil notbe for nothing that I have run the race and toiled so hard.
17 אבל אם גם אסך על זבח אמונתכם ועבודתה הנני שמח וגם שש עם כלכם	17 Indeed, even if my blood has to be poured as a libation over your sacrifice and the offering of yourfaith, then I shal be glad and join in your rejoicing-
18 וככה שמחו אף אתם ושישו עמדי	18 and in the same way, you must be glad and join in my rejoicing.
19 וקויתי בישוע אדנינו לשלח במהרה אליכם את טימותיוס למען תנוח דעתי בהודע לי דבר מעמדכם	19 I hope, in the Lord Jesus, to send Timothy to you soon, so that my mind may be set at rest when I hearhow you are.
20 כי זולתו אין אתי איש כלבבי אשר בלב שלם ידאג לכם	20 There is nobody else that I can send who is like him and cares as sincerely for your well-being;
21 כי כלם את אשר להם ידרשו ולא את אשר לישוע המשיח	21 they al want to work for themselves, not for Jesus Christ.
22 ואותו ידעתם כי בחון הוא אשר כבן העבד את אביו כן היה אתי בעבודת הבשורה	22 But you know what sort of person he has proved himself, working with me for the sake of the gospellike a son with his father.
23 ואתו אקוה לשלח אליכם מהר כאשר אראה מה יהיה לי	23 That is the man, then, that I am hoping to send to you immediately I can make out what is going tohappen to me;
24 ובטחתי באדנינו אשר גם אנכי אבוא אליכם במהרה	24 but I am confident in the Lord that I shal come myself, too, before long.
25 ואחשב מן הצרך לשלח אליכם את אפפרודיטוס אחי ועזרי וחברי בצבא והוא שליחכם ומשרתי בצרכי	25 Nevertheless I thought it essential to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fel ow-worker andcompanion-in-arms since he came as your representative to look after my needs;
26 יען היותו נכסף לכלכם ונעצב מאד על אשר שמעתם כי חלה	26 because he was missing you al and was worrying because you had heard that he was il .
27 אמנם חלה חלה וגם נטה למות אבל האלהים רחם עליו ולא עליו בלבד כי גם עלי רחם שלא יבוא עלי יגון על יגון	27 Indeed he was seriously il and nearly died; but God took pity on him -- and not only on him but also onme, to spare me one grief on top of another.
28 לכן מהרתי לשלחו אליכם למען תראהו ותשובו לשמוח וגם ימעט יגוני	28 So I am sending him back as promptly as I can so that you wil have the joy of seeing him again, andthat wil be some comfort to me in my distress.
29 על כן קבלהו באדנינו בכל שמחה והוקירוט אנשים כמהו	29 Welcome him in the Lord, then, with al joy; hold people like him in honour,
30 כי בעבור מעשה המשיח הגיע עד מות ותקל נפשו בעיניו למען ימלא את אשר חסרתם בשרתכם אותי	30 because it was for Christ's work that he came so near to dying, risking his life to do the duty to mewhich you could not do yourselves.
