Hosea 13

1 When Ephraim spake trembling, he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.	1 Quando Efraim, terrível pelas suas palavras, se tornava forte em Israel, delinquiu, adorando Baal e morreu.
2 And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.	2 Agora continuam a pecar; fizeram para si com sua prata, estátuas fundidas, ídolos de sua invenção, o que tudo é obra de artistas. A estes (ídolos) é que se dirigem, oferecem-lhes sacrifícios humanos, e dão beijos nos bezerros.
3 Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.	3 Por isso serão como a nuvem da manhã, como o orvalho matinal, que logo passa, como o pó arrebatado da eira pelo torvelinho, como o fumo que sai pela janela.
4 Yet I am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.	4 Todavia eu sou o Senhor teu Deus desde (que saiste da) terra do Egipto; tu não conhecerás outro Deus fora de mim; não há Salvador senão eu.
5 I did know thee in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.	5 Conheci-te (tratando-te como filho) no deserto, numa terra estéril.
6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me.	6 Eles fartaram-se quando tiveram a sua pastagem; uma vez saciados, levantaram o seu coração e esqueceram-se de mim.
7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:	7 Serei para eles como um leão, como uma pantera no caminho, a espreitar.
8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.	8 Sair-lhes-ei ao encontro como uma ursa a quem roubaram os seus cachorros, dilacerarei o seu coração, como um leão os devorarei, e despedaçá-los-ei como uma fera do campo.
9 O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.	9 Estás perdido, Ó Israel, só em mim está o teu auxílio.
10 I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?	10 Onde está o teu rei para te salvar em todas as tuas cidades? Onde os teus juízes de quem (me) disseste: Dá-me um rei e príncipes (que me governem)?
11 I gave thee a king in mine anger, and took him away in my wrath.	11 Dei-te um rei no meu furor, e retiro-to na minha indignação.
12 The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.	12 As iniquidades de Efraim, estão atadas juntas, o seu pecado está posto em reserva.
13 The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him: he is an unwise son; for he should not stay long in the place of the breaking forth of children.	13 Sobre ele virão as dores, como de uma mulher que está de parto; seu filho é insensato, o qual, na hora devida, não se põe em termos de sair do seio materno.
14 I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.	14 (Não obstante) livrá-los-ei do poder do sepulcro, resgatá-los-ei da morte? Ó morte, onde está o teu flagelo? ó inferno, onde a tua destruição? O arrependimento está escondido a meus olhos.
15 Though he be fruitful among his brethren, an east wind shall come, the wind of the LORD shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall become dry, and his fountain shall be dried up: he shall spoil the treasure of all pleasant vessels.	15 Entretanto que (Efraim) frutificar entre seus irmãos, virá o vento do oriente, o vento do Senhor, que se levanta do deserto, o qual secará a sua nascente, estancará a sua fonte, roubará o tesouro de todos os objectos preciosos.
16 Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.
