Deuxième épître de Pierre 1

JERUSALEM	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Syméon Pierre, serviteur et apôtre de Jésus Christ, à ceux qui ont reçu par la justice de notre Dieu etSauveur Jésus Christ une foi d'un aussi grand prix que la nôtre,	1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 à vous grâce et paix en abondance, par la connaissance de notre Seigneur!	2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 Car sa divine puissance nous a donné tout ce qui concerne la vie et la piété: elle nous a faitconnaître Celui qui nous a appelés par sa propre gloire et vertu.	3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Par elles, les précieuses, les plus grandes promesses nous ont été données, afin que vous deveniezainsi participants de la divine nature, vous étant arrachés à la corruption qui est dans le monde, dans laconvoitise.	4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 Pour cette même raison, apportez encore tout votre zèle à joindre à votre foi la vertu, à la vertu laconnaissance,	5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 à la connaissance la tempérance, à la tempérance la constance, à la constance la piété,	6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 à la piété l'amour fraternel, à l'amour fraternel la charité.	7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 En effet, si ces choses vous appartiennent et qu'elles abondent, elles ne vous laisseront pas sansactivité, ni sans fruit pour la connaissance de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.	8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 Celui qui ne les possède pas, c'est un aveugle, un myope; il oublie qu'il a été purifié de ses ancienspéchés.	9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Ayez donc d'autant plus de zèle, frères, pour affermir votre vocation et votre élection. Ce faisant,pas de danger que vous tombiez jamais.	10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 Car c'est ainsi que vous sera largement accordée par surcroît l'entrée dans le Royaume éternel denotre Seigneur et Sauveur Jésus Christ.	11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
12 C'est pourquoi je vous rappellerai toujours ces choses, bien que vous les sachiez et soyez affermisdans la présente vérité.	12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
13 Je crois juste, tant que je suis dans cette tente, de vous tenir en éveil par mes rappels,	13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
14 sachant, comme d'ailleurs notre Seigneur Jésus Christ me l'a manifesté, que l'abandon de ma tenteest proche.	14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
15 Mais j'emploierai mon zèle à ce qu'en toute occasion, après mon départ, vous puissiez vousremettre ces choses en mémoire.	15 Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
16 Car ce n'est pas en suivant des fables sophistiquées que nous vous avons fait connaître la puissanceet l'Avènement de notre Seigneur Jésus Christ, mais après avoir été témoins oculaires de sa majesté.	16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 Il reçut en effet de Dieu le Père honneur et gloire, lorsque la Gloire pleine de majesté lui transmitune telle parole: "Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé, qui a toute ma faveur."	17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 Cette voix, nous, nous l'avons entendue; elle venait du Ciel, nous étions avec lui sur la montagnesainte.	18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 Ainsi nous tenons plus ferme la parole prophétique: vous faites bien de la regarder, comme unelampe qui brille dans un lieu obscur, jusqu'à ce que le jour commence à poindre et que l'astre du matin se lèvedans vos coeurs.	19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 Avant tout, sachez-le: aucune prophétie d'Ecriture n'est objet d'explication personnelle;	20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 ce n'est pas d'une volonté humaine qu'est jamais venue une prophétie, c'est poussés par l'EspritSaint que des hommes ont parlé de la part de Dieu.	21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
