JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Partant de là, il vient dans le territoire de la Judée et au-delà du Jourdain, et de nouveau les foules serassemblent auprès de lui et, selon sa coutume, de nouveau il les enseignait.	1 And rising up from thence, he cometh into the coasts of Judea beyond the Jordan: and the multitudes flock to him again. And as he was accustomed, he taught them again.
2 S'approchant, des Pharisiens lui demandaient: "Est-il permis à un mari de répudier sa femme?" C'étaitpour le mettre à l'épreuve.	2 And the Pharisees coming to him asked him: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
3 Il leur répondit: "Qu'est-ce que Moïse vous a prescrit" --	3 But he answering, saith to them: What did Moses command you?
4 "Moïse, dirent-ils, a permis de rédiger un acte de divorce et de répudier."	4 Who said: Moses permitted to write a bill of divorce, and to put her away.
5 Alors Jésus leur dit: "C'est en raison de votre dureté de coeur qu'il a écrit pour vous cetteprescription.	5 To whom Jesus answering, said: Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you that precept.
6 Mais dès l'origine de la création Il les fit homme et femme.	6 But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.
7 Ainsi donc l'homme quittera son père et sa mère,	7 For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife.
8 et les deux ne feront qu'une seule chair. Ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair.	8 And they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh.
9 Eh bien! ce que Dieu a uni, l'homme ne doit point le séparer."	9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
10 Rentrés à la maison, les disciples l'interrogeaient de nouveau sur ce point.	10 And in the house again his disciples asked him concerning the same thing.
11 Et il leur dit: "Quiconque répudie sa femme et en épouse une autre, commet un adultère à son égard;	11 And he saith to them: Whosoever shall put away his wife and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
12 et si une femme répudie son mari et en épouse un autre, elle commet un adultère."	12 And if the wife shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
13 On lui présentait des petits enfants pour qu'il les touchât, mais les disciples les rabrouèrent.	13 And they brought to him young children, that he might touch them. And the disciples rebuked them that brought them.
14 Ce que voyant, Jésus se fâcha et leur dit: "Laissez les petits enfants venir à moi; ne les empêchezpas, car c'est à leurs pareils qu'appartient le Royaume de Dieu.	14 Whom when Jesus saw, he was much displeased, and saith to them: Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 En vérité je vous le dis: quiconque n'accueille pas le Royaume de Dieu en petit enfant, n'y entrerapas."	15 Amen I say to you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, shall not enter into it.
16 Puis il les embrassa et les bénit en leur imposant les mains.	16 And embracing them, and laying his hands upon them, he blessed them.
17 Il se mettait en route quand un homme accourut et, s'agenouillant devant lui, il l'interrogeait: "Bonmaître, que dois-je faire pour avoir en héritage la vie éternelle?"	17 And when he was gone forth into the way, a certain man running up and kneeling before him, asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may receive life everlasting?
18 Jésus lui dit: "Pourquoi m'appelles-tu bon? Nul n'est bon que Dieu seul.	18 And Jesus said to him, Why callest thou me good? None is good but one, that is God.
19 Tu connais les commandements: Ne tue pas, ne commets pas d'adultère, ne vole pas, ne porte pas defaux témoignage, ne fais pas de tort, honore ton père et ta mère."	19 Thou knowest the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, bear not false witness, do no fraud, honour thy father and mother.
20 "Maître --, lui dit-il, tout cela, je l'ai observé dès ma jeunesse."	20 But he answering, said to him: Master, all these things I have observed from my youth.
21 Alors Jésus fixa sur lui son regard et l'aima. Et il lui dit: "Une seule chose te manque: va, ce que tuas, vends-le et donne-le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans le ciel; puis, viens, suis-moi."	21 And Jesus looking on him, loved him, and said to him: One thing is wanting unto thee: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.
22 Mais lui, à ces mots, s'assombrit et il s'en alla contristé, car il avait de grands biens.	22 Who being struck sad at that saying, went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 Alors Jésus, regardant autour de lui, dit à ses disciples: "Comme il sera difficile à ceux qui ont desrichesses d'entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu!"	23 And Jesus looking round about, saith to his disciples: How hardly shall they that have riches, enter into the kingdom of God!
24 Les disciples étaient stupéfaits de ces paroles. Mais Jésus reprit et leur dit: "Mes enfants, comme ilest difficile d'entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu!	24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus again answering, saith to them: Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdom of God?
25 Il est plus facile à un chameau de passer par le trou de l'aiguille qu'à un riche d'entrer dans leRoyaume de Dieu!"	25 It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
26 Ils restèrent interdits à l'excès et se disaient les uns aux autres: "Et qui peut être sauvé?"	26 Who wondered the more, saying among themselves: Who then can be saved?
27 Fixant sur eux son regard, Jésus dit: "Pour les hommes, impossible, mais non pour Dieu: car tout estpossible pour Dieu."	27 And Jesus looking on them, saith: With men it is impossible; but not with God: for all things are possible with God.
28 Pierre se mit à lui dire: "Voici que nous, nous avons tout laissé et nous t'avons suivi."	28 And Peter began to say unto him: Behold, we have left all things, and have followed thee.
29 Jésus déclara: "En vérité, je vous le dis, nul n'aura laissé maison, frères, soeurs, mère, père, enfantsou champs à cause de moi et à cause de l'Evangile,	29 Jesus answering, said: Amen I say to you, there is no man who hath left house or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my sake and for the gospel,
30 qui ne reçoive le centuple dès maintenant, au temps présent, en maisons, frères, soeurs, mères,enfants et champs, avec des persécutions, et, dans le monde à venir, la vie éternelle.	30 Who shall not receive an hundred times as much, now in this time; houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions: and in the world to come life everlasting.
31 Beaucoup de premiers seront derniers et les derniers seront premiers."	31 But many that are first, shall be last: and the last, first.
32 Ils étaient en route, montant à Jérusalem; et Jésus marchait devant eux, et ils étaient dans la stupeur,et ceux qui suivaient étaient effrayés. Prenant de nouveau les Douze avec lui, il se mit à leur dire ce qui allait luiarriver:	32 And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem: and Jesus went before them, and they were astonished; and following were afraid. And taking again the twelve, he began to tell them the things that should befall him.
33 "Voici que nous montons à Jérusalem, et le Fils de l'homme sera livré aux grands prêtres et auxscribes; ils le condamneront à mort et le livreront aux païens,	33 Saying: Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests, and to the scribes and ancients, and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles.
34 ils le bafoueront, cracheront sur lui, le flagelleront et le tueront, et après trois jours il ressuscitera."	34 And they shall mock him, and spit on him, and scourge him, and kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
35 Jacques et Jean, les fils de Zébédée, avancent vers lui et lui disent: "Maître, nous voulons que tufasses pour nous ce que nous allons te demander."	35 And James and John the sons of Zebedee, come to him, saying: Master, we desire that whatsoever we shall ask, thou wouldst do it for us:
36 Il leur dit: "Que voulez-vous que je fasse pour vous" --	36 But he said to them: What would you that I should do for you?
37 "Accorde-nous, lui dirent-ils, de siéger, l'un à ta droite et l'autre à ta gauche, dans ta gloire."	37 And they said: Grant to us, that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
38 Jésus leur dit: "Vous ne savez pas ce que vous demandez. Pouvez-vous boire la coupe que je vaisboire et être baptisés du baptême dont je vais être baptisé?"	38 And Jesus said to them: You know not what you ask. Can you drink of the chalice that I drink of: or be baptized with the baptism wherewith I am baptized?
39 Ils lui dirent: "Nous le pouvons." Jésus leur dit: "La coupe que je vais boire, vous la boirez, et lebaptême dont je vais être baptisé, vous en serez baptisés;	39 But they said to him: We can. And Jesus saith to them: You shall indeed drink of the chalice that I drink of: and with the baptism wherewith I am baptized, you shall be baptized.
40 quant à siéger à ma droite ou à ma gauche, il ne m'appartient pas de l'accorder, mais c'est pour ceuxà qui cela a été destiné."	40 But to sit on my right hand, or on my left, is not mine to give to you, but to them for whom it is prepared.
41 Les dix autres, qui avaient entendu, se mirent à s'indigner contre Jacques et Jean.	41 And the ten hearing it, began to be much displeased at James and John.
42 Les ayant appelés près de lui, Jésus leur dit: "Vous savez que ceux qu'on regarde comme les chefsdes nations dominent sur elles en maîtres et que les grands leur font sentir leur pouvoir.	42 But Jesus calling them, saith to them: You know that they who seem to rule over the Gentiles, lord it over them: and their princes have power over them.
43 Il ne doit pas en être ainsi parmi vous: au contraire, celui qui voudra devenir grand parmi vous, seravotre serviteur,	43 But it is not so among you: but whosoever will be greater, shall be your minister.
44 et celui qui voudra être le premier parmi vous, sera l'esclave de tous.	44 And whosoever will be first among you, shall be the servant of all.
45 Aussi bien, le Fils de l'homme lui-même n'est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir et donner savie en rançon pour une multitude."	45 For the Son of man also is not come to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a redemption for many.
46 Ils arrivent à Jéricho. Et comme il sortait de Jéricho avec ses disciples et une foule considérable, lefils de Timée (Bartimée), un mendiant aveugle, était assis au bord du chemin.	46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho, with his disciples, and a very great multitude, Bartimeus the blind man, the son of Timeus, sat by the way side begging.
47 Quand il apprit que c'était Jésus le Nazarénien, il se mit à crier: "Fils de David, Jésus, aie pitié demoi!"	47 Who when he had heard, that it was Jesus of Nazareth, began to cry out, and to say: Jesus son of David, have mercy on me.
48 Et beaucoup le rabrouaient pour lui imposer silence, mais lui criait de plus belle: "Fils de David, aiepitié de moi!"	48 And many rebuked him, that he might hold his peace; but he cried a great deal the more: Son of David, have mercy on me.
49 Jésus s'arrêta et dit: "Appelez-le." On appelle l'aveugle en lui disant: "Aie confiance! lève-toi, ilt'appelle."	49 And Jesus, standing still, commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying to him: Be of better comfort: arise, he calleth thee.
50 Et lui, rejetant son manteau, bondit et vint à Jésus.	50 Who casting off his garment leaped up, and came to him.
51 Alors Jésus lui adressa la parole: "Que veux-tu que je fasse pour toi?" L'aveugle lui répondit:"Rabbouni, que je recouvre la vue!"	51 And Jesus answering, said to him: What wilt thou that I should do to thee? And the blind man said to him: Rabboni, that I may see.
52 Jésus lui dit: "Va, ta foi t'a sauvé." Et aussitôt il recouvra la vue et il cheminait à sa suite.	52 And Jesus saith to him: Go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he saw, and followed him in the way.
