1 Israël partit avec tout ce qu'il possédait. Arrivé à Bersabée, il offrit des sacrifices au Dieu de sonpère Isaac	1 Israel set out with all that was his. When he arrived at Beer-sheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.
2 et Dieu dit à Israël dans une vision nocturne: "Jacob! Jacob!" et il répondit: "Me voici."	2 There God, speaking to Israel in a vision by night, called, "Jacob! Jacob!" "Here I am," he answered.
3 Dieu reprit: "Je suis El, le Dieu de ton père. N'aie pas peur de descendre en Egypte, car là-bas jeferai de toi une grande nation.	3 Then he said: "I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you a great nation.
4 C'est moi qui descendrai avec toi en Egypte, c'est moi aussi qui t'en ferai remonter, et Joseph tefermera les yeux."	4 Not only will I go down to Egypt with you; I will also bring you back here, after Joseph has closed your eyes."
5 Jacob partit de Bersabée, et les fils d'Israël firent monter leur père Jacob, leurs petits enfants etleurs femmes sur les chariots que Pharaon avait envoyés pour le prendre.	5 So Jacob departed from Beer-sheba, and the sons of Israel put their father and their wives and children on the wagons that Pharaoh had sent for his transport.
6 Ils emmenèrent leurs troupeaux et tout ce qu'ils avaient acquis au pays de Canaan et ils vinrent enEgypte, Jacob et tous ses descendants avec lui:	6 They took with them their livestock and the possessions they had acquired in the land of Canaan. Thus Jacob and all his descendants migrated to Egypt.
7 ses fils et les fils de ses fils, ses filles et les filles de ses fils, bref tous ses descendants, il lesemmena avec lui en Egypte.	7 His sons and his grandsons, his daughters and his granddaughters--all his descendants--he took with him to Egypt.
8 Voici les noms des fils d'Israël qui vinrent en Egypte, Jacob et ses fils. Ruben, l'aîné de Jacob,	8 These are the names of the Israelites, Jacob and his descendants, who migrated to Egypt. Reuben, Jacob's first-born,
9 et les fils de Ruben: Hénok, Pallu, Heçrôn, Karmi.	9 and the sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
10 Les fils de Siméon: Yemuel, Yamîn, Ohad, Yakîn, Cohar et Shaûl, le fils de la Cananéenne.	10 The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, son of a Canaanite woman.
11 Les fils de Lévi: Gershôn, Qehat, Merari.	11 The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
12 Les fils de Juda: Er, Onân, Shéla, Pérèç et Zérah (mais Er et Onân étaient morts au pays deCanaan), et les fils de Pérèç, Heçrôn et Hamul.	12 The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah--but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan; and the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
13 Les fils d'Issachar: Tola, Puvva, Yashub et Shimrôn.	13 The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron.
14 Les fils de Zabulon: Séred, Elôn, Yahléel.	14 The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.
15 Tels sont les fils que Léa avait enfantés à Jacob en Paddân-Aram, en plus sa fille Dina, en tout,fils et filles, 33 personnes.	15 These were the sons whom Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, along with his daughter Dinah--thirty-three persons in all, male and female.
16 Les fils de Gad: Cephôn, Haggi, Shuni, Eçbôn, Eri, Arodi etAréli.	16 The sons of Gad: Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arod, and Areli.
17 Les fils d'Asher: Yimna, Yishva, Yishvi, Beria et leur sœur Sérah; les fils de Beria: Héber etMalkiel.	17 The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah, with their sister Serah; and the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.
18 Tels sont les fils de Zilpa, donnée par Laban à sa fille Léa;elle enfanta ceux-là à Jacob, seizepersonnes.	18 These were the descendants of Zilpah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah; these she bore to Jacob--sixteen persons in all.
19 Les fils de Rachel, femme de Jacob: Joseph et Benjamin.	19 The sons of Jacob's wife Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.
20 Joseph eut pour enfants en Egypte Manassé et Ephraïm, nésd'Asnat, fille de Poti-Phéra, prêtred'On.	20 In the land of Egypt Joseph became the father of Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, daughter of Potiphera, priest of Heliopolis, bore to him.
21 Les fils de Benjamin: Béla, Béker, Ashbel, Géra, Naamân, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim et Ard.	21 The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ahiram, Shupham, Hupham, and Ard.
22 Tels sont les fils que Rachel enfanta à Jacob, en tout quatorze personnes.	22 These were the sons whom Rachel bore to Jacob--fourteen persons in all.
23 Les fils de Dan: Hushim.	23 The sons of Dan: Hushim.
24 Les fils de Nephtali: Yahçéel, Guni, Yéçer et Shillem.	24 The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.
25 Tels sont les fils de Bilha, donnée par Laban à sa fille Rachel; elle enfanta ceux-là à Jacob, en toutsept personnes.	25 These were the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel; these she bore to Jacob--seven persons in all.
26 Toutes les personnes de la famille de Jacob, issues de lui, qui vinrent en Egypte, sans compter lesfemmes des fils de Jacob, étaient en tout 66.	26 Jacob's people who migrated to Egypt--his direct descendants, not counting the wives of Jacob's sons--numbered sixty-six persons in all.
27 Les fils de Joseph qui lui naquirent en Egypte étaient aunombre de deux. Total des personnes dela famille de Jacob qui vinrent en Egypte: 70.	27 Together with Joseph's sons who were born to him in Egypt--two persons--all the people comprising Jacob's family who had come to Egypt amounted to seventy persons in all.
28 Israël envoya Juda en avant vers Joseph pour que celui-ci parût devant lui en Goshèn, et ilsarrivèrent à la terre de Goshèn.	28 Israel had sent Judah ahead to Joseph, so that he might meet him in Goshen. On his arrival in the region of Goshen,
29 Joseph fit atteler son char et monta à la rencontre de son père Israël en Goshèn. Dès qu'il parutdevant lui, il se jeta à son cou et pleura longtemps en le tenant embrassé.	29 Joseph hitched the horses to his chariot and rode to meet his father Israel in Goshen. As soon as he saw him, he flung himself on his neck and wept a long time in his arms.
30 Israël dit à Joseph: "Pour lors, je puis mourir, après que j'ai vu ton visage et que tu es encorevivant!"	30 And Israel said to Joseph, "At last I can die, now that I have seen for myself that Joseph is still alive."
31 Alors Joseph dit à ses frères et à la famille de son père: "Je vais monter avertir Pharaon et lui dire:Mes frères et la famille de mon père, qui étaient au pays de Canaan, sont arrivés auprès de moi.	31 Joseph then said to his brothers and his father's household: "I will go and inform Pharaoh, telling him: 'My brothers and my father's household, whose home is in the land of Canaan, have come to me.
32 Ces gens sont des bergers -- ils se sont occupés de troupeaux-- et ils ont amené leur petit et leurgros bétail et tout ce qui leur appartient.	32 The men are shepherds, having long been keepers of livestock; and they have brought with them their flocks and herds, as well as everything else they own.'
33 Aussi, lorsque Pharaon vous appellera et vous demandera: Que lest votre métier?	33 So when Pharaoh summons you and asks what your occupation is,
34 Vous répondrez: Tes serviteurs se sont occupés de troupeaux depuis leur plus jeune âge jusqu'àmaintenant, nous-mêmes comme déjà nos pères. Ainsi vous pourrez demeurer dans la terre de Goshèn." En effet,les Egyptiens ont tous les bergers en horreur.	34 you must answer, 'We your servants, like our ancestors, have been keepers of livestock from the beginning until now,' in order that you may stay in the region of Goshen, since all shepherds are abhorrent to the Egyptians."
