A Miktam of David; for instruction; when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and when Joab on his return killed twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt. O God, thou hast rejected us, broken our defenses; thou hast been angry; oh, restore us.

3 Du hast uns verworfen, o Gott, und zerschlagen. Du hast uns gezürnt. Richte uns wieder auf!	3 Thou hast made thy people suffer hard things; thou hast given us wine to drink that made us reel.
4 Erschüttert hast du das Land und gespalten. Heile seine Risse! Denn es kam ins Wanken.	4 Thou hast set up a banner for those who fear thee, to rally to it from the bow. [Selah]
5 Du hast dein Volk hart geprüft, du gabst uns betäubenden Wein zu trinken.	5 That thy beloved may be delivered, give victory by thy right hand and answer us!
6 Für alle, die dich fürchten, hast du ein Zeichen aufgestellt, zu dem sie fliehen können vor dem Bogen. [Sela]	6 God has spoken in his sanctuary: "With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Vale of Succoth.
7 Hilf mit deiner Rechten, erhöre uns, damit die gerettet werden, die du so sehr liebst.	7 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet; Judah is my scepter.
8 Gott hat in seinem Heiligtum gesprochen: «Ich will triumphieren, will Sichem verteilen und das Tal von Sukkot vermessen.	8 Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph."
9 Mein ist Gilead, mein auch Manasse, Efraim ist der Helm auf meinem Haupt, Juda mein Herrscherstab.	9 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom?
10 Doch Moab ist mein Waschbecken, auf Edom werfe ich meinen Schuh, ich triumphiere über das Land der Philister.»	10 Hast thou not rejected us, O God? Thou dost not go forth, O God, with our armies.
11 Wer führt mich hin zu der befestigten Stadt, wer wird mich nach Edom geleiten?	11 O grant us help against the foe, for vain is the help of man!
12 Gott, hast denn du uns verworfen? Du ziehst ja nicht aus, o Gott, mit unseren Heeren.	12 With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.
13 Bring uns doch Hilfe im Kampf mit dem Feind! Denn die Hilfe von Menschen ist nutzlos.
14 Mit Gott werden wir Großes vollbringen; er selbst wird unsere Feinde zertreten.
