1 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves, and was transfigured before them.	1 E dizia-lhes: "Em verdade vos digo que, dos que aqui se encontram, alguns não morrerão sem terem visto antes o reino de Deus vir com poder."
2 And his garments became shining and exceeding white as snow, so as no fuller upon earth can make white.	2 Seis dias depois, tomou Jesus consigo Pedro, Tiago e João, e conduziu-os sós, aparte, a um alto monte, e transfigurou-se diante deles.
3 And there appeared to them Elias with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.	3 Os seus vestidos tornaram-se resplandecentes, em extremo brancos, como nenhum lavandeiro sobre a terra os poderia tornar tão brancos.
4 And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.	4 Depois apareceu-lhes Elias com Moisés, que estavam falando com Jesus.
5 For he knew not what he said: for they were struck with fear.	5 Pedro, tomando a palavra, disse a Jesus: "Mestre, é bom que estejamos aqui: façamos três tendas, uma para ti, outra para Moisés, outra para Elias."
6 And there was a cloud overshadowing them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my most beloved son; hear ye him.	6 Porque não sabia o que dizia, pois estavam atônitos de medo.
7 And immediately looking about, they saw no man any more, but Jesus only with them.	7 E formou-se uma nuvem que os cobriu com a sua sombra, e saiu uma voz da nuvem, que dizia: "Este é o meu Filho caríssimo, ouvi-o."
8 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them not to tell any man what things they had seen, till the Son of man shall be risen again from the dead.	8 Olhando logo em roda, não viram mais ninguém com eles senão Jesus.
9 And they kept the word to themselves; questioning together what that should mean, when he shall be risen from the dead.	9 Ao descerem do monte, ordenou-lhes que a ninguém contassem o que tinham visto, senão quando o Filho do homem tivesse ressuscitado dos mortos.
10 And they asked him, saying: Why then do the Pharisees and scribes say that Elias must come first?	10 Observaram esta ordem, investigando entre si o que queria dizer: "Quando tiver ressuscitado dos mortos."
11 Who answering, said to them: Elias, when he shall come first, shall restore all things; and as it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things and be despised.	11 Interrogaram-no, dizendo: "Porque dizem os escribas que Elias deve vir primeiro?"
12 But I say to you, that Elias also is come, (and they have done to him whatsoever they would,) as it is written of him.	12 Jesus respondeu-lhes: "Elias efetivamente há-de vir primeiro e pôr tudo em ordem. Como está escrito acerca do Filho do homem, que terá de sofrer muito e ser desprezado?
13 And coming to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes disputing with them.	13 Mas digo-vos que Elias já veio, e fizeram dele quanto quiseram, como está escrito dele."
14 And presently all the people seeing Jesus, were astonished and struck with fear; and running to him, they saluted him.	14 Chegando junto dos seus discípulos, viu uma grande multidão em volta deles, e os escribas disputando com eles.
15 And he asked them: What do you question about among you?	15 E logo toda aquela multidão surpreendida ao ver Jesus, correu para o saudar.
16 And one of the multitude, answering, said: Master, I have brought my son to thee, having a dumb spirit.	16 Perguntou-lhes: "Que estais disputando entre vós?"
17 Who, wheresoever he taketh him, dasheth him, and he foameth, and gnasheth with the teeth, and pineth away; and I spoke to thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.	17 Um de entre a multidão respondeu-lhe: "Mestre, eu trouxe-te meu filho que está possesso de um espirito mudo,
18 Who answering them, said: O incredulous generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.	18 o qual, onde quer que se apodere dele, o lança por terra, e o menino espuma, range com os dentes, e fica entorpecido. Roguei a teus discípulos que o expelissem, e não puderam."
19 And they brought him. And when he had seen him, immediately the spirit troubled him; and being thrown down upon the ground, he rolled about foaming.	19 Jesus respondeu-lhes: "Ó geração incrédula! Até quando hei-de estar convosco? Até quando vos hei-de suportar? Trazei-mo cá."
20 And he asked his father: How long time is it since this hath happened unto him? But he said: From his infancy:	20 Levaram-lho. Tendo visto Jesus, imediatamente o espírito o agitou com violência, e, caído por terra, revolvia-se espumando.
21 And oftentimes hath he cast him into the fire and into waters to destroy him. But if thou canst do any thing, help us, having compassion on us.	21 Jesus perguntou ao pai dele: "Há quanto tempo lhe sucede isto?" Ele respondeu: "Desde a infância.
22 And Jesus saith to him: If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.	22 O demônio tem-no lançado muitas vezes no fogo e na água, para o matar; porém tu, se podes alguma coisa, vale-nos, tem compaixão de nós."
23 And immediately the father of the boy crying out, with tears said: I do believe, Lord: help my unbelief.	23 Jesus disse-lhe: "Se podes... tudo é possível ao que crê."
24 And when Jesus saw the multitude running together, he threatened the unclean spirit, saying to him: Deaf and dumb spirit, I command thee, go out of him; and enter not any more into him.	24 Imediatamente o pai do menino exclamou; "Eu creio! Auxilia a minha falta de fé."
25 And crying out, and greatly tearing him, he went out of him, and he became as dead, so that many said: He is dead.	25 Jesus, vendo aumentar a multidão, ameaçou o espírito imundo, dizendo-lhe : "Espírito mudo e surdo, eu te mando; sai desse menino, e não tornes a entrar nele!"
26 But Jesus taking him by the hand, lifted him up; and he arose.	26 Então, dando gritos e agitando-o com violência, saiu dele, e o menino ficou como morto, de sorte que muitos diziam: "Está morto."
27 And when he was come into the house, his disciples secretly asked him: Why could not we cast him out?	27 Porém Jesus, tomando-o pela mão, levantou-o, e ele ergueu-se.
28 And he said to them: This kind can go out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.	28 Depois que entrou em casa, seus discípulos perguntaram-lhe particularmente: "Porque o não pudemos nós expelir?"
29 And departing from thence, they passed through Galilee, and he would not that any man should know it.	29 Respondeu-lhes: "Esta casta de demônios não se pode expelir, senão mediante a oração e o jejum."
30 And he taught his disciple, and said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise again the third day.	30 Tendo partido dali, atravessaram a Galileia; e Jesus não queria que se soubesse.
31 But they understood not the word, and they were afraid to ask him.	31 Ia instruindo os seus discípulos, e dizia-lhes: "O Filho do homem vai ser entregue às mãos dos homens, e lhe darão a morte, e ressuscitará ao terceiro dia, depois da sua morte."
32 And they came to Capharnaum. And when they were in the house, he asked them: What did you treat of in the way?	32 Mas eles não compreendiam estas palavras, e temiam interrogá-lo.
33 But they held their peace, for in the way they had disputed among themselves, which of them should be the greatest.	33 Nisto chegaram a Cafarnaum. Quando estavam em casa, Jesus perguntou-lhes: "De que vínheis vós discutindo pelo caminho?
34 And sitting down, he called the twelve, and saith to them: If any man desire to be first, he shall be the last of all, and the minister of all.	34 Eles, porém, calaram-se, porque no caminho tinham discutido entre si qual deles era o maior.
35 And taking a child, he set him in the midst of them. Whom when he had embraced, he saith to them:	35 Então, sentando-se, chamou os doze, e disse-lhes: "Se alguém quer ser o primeiro, será o último de todos e o servo de todos."
36 Whosoever shall receive one such child as this in my name, receiveth me. And whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.	36 Em seguida, tomando um menino, pô-lo no meio deles, e, depois de o abraçar, disse-lhes:
37 John answered him, saying: Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, who followeth not us, and we forbade him.	37 "Todo o que receber um destes meninos em meu nome, a mim recebe, e todo o que me receber a mim, não me recebe a mim, mas aquele que me enviou."
38 But Jesus said: Do not forbid him. For there is no man that doth a miracle in my name, and can soon speak ill of me.	38 João disse-lhe: "Mestre, vimos um, que não anda connosco, expelir os demônios em teu nome, e nós lho proibimos, porque não nos segue."
39 For he that is not against you, is for you.	39 Jesus, porém, respondeu : "Não lho proibais, porque não há ninguém que faça um milagre em meu nome e que possa logo dizer mal de mim.
40 For whosoever shall give you to drink a cup of water in my name, because you belong to Christ: amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.	40 Porque quem não é contra nós, está connosco.
41 And whosoever shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me; it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and he were cast into the sea.	41 Quem vos der um copo de água, por que sois de Cristo, em verdade vos digo que não perderá a sua recompensa.
42 And if thy hand scandalize thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life, maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into unquenchable fire:	42 Quem escandalizar um destes pequeninos que, creem em mim, melhor lhe fora que lhe atassem à roda do pescoço a mó que um asno faz girar, e que o lançassem ao mar.
43 Where there worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.	43 Se a tua mão é para ti ocasião de queda, corta-a; melhor te é entrar na vida eterna manco, do que, tendo duas mãos, ir para a geena, para o fogo inextinguível,
44 And if thy foot scandalize thee, cut it off. It is better for thee to enter lame into life everlasting, than having two feet, to be cast into the hell of unquenchable fire:	44 onde o seu verme não morre, e o fogo não se apaga (Is. 66, 24).
45 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.	45 Se o teu pé é para ti ocasião de queda, corta-o; melhor te é entrar na vida eterna coxo, do que, tendo dois pés, ser lançado na geena,
46 And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out. It is better for thee with one eye to enter into the kingdom of God, than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire:	46 onde o seu verme não morre, e o fogo não se apaga (Is. 66, 24).
47 Where the worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.	47 Se o teu olho é para ti ocasião de queda, lança-o fora; melhor te é entrar no reino de Deus sem um olho, do que, lendo dois, ser lançado na geena,
48 For every one shall be salted with fire: and every victim shall be salted with salt.	48 onde o seu verme não morre, e o fogo não se apaga (Is. 66, 24).
49 Salt is good. But if the salt became unsavory; wherewith will you season it? Have salt in you, and have peace among you.	49 Todo o homem será salgado pelo fogo.
	50 O sal é uma coisa boa, porém, se se tornar insípido, com que haveis de lhe dar o sabor? Tende sal em vós, e tende paz uns com os outros."
