1 Be comforted, be comforted, my people, saith your God.	1 Consolez-vous, consolez-vous, mon peuple, dit votre Dieu.
2 Speak ye to the heart of Jerusalem, and call to her: for her evil is come to an end, her iniquity is forgiven: she hath received of the hand of the Lord double for all her sins.	2 Parlez au cœur de Jérusalem, et dites-lui que ses maux sont finis (parce que sa malice est arrivée au terme), que son iniquité est pardonnée, et qu'elle a reçu de la main du Seigneur le (une) double (peine) pour tous ses péchés.
3 The voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the wilderness the paths of our God.	3 Voix de quelqu'un qui crie dans le désert : Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, rendez droits dans la solitude les sentiers de notre Dieu.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight, and the rough ways plain.	4 Toute vallée sera exhaussée (comblée), toute montagne et toute colline sera abaissée ; les chemins tortueux seront redressés, et les raboteux aplanis ;
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh together shall see, that the mouth of the Lord hath spoken.	5 et la gloire du Seigneur sera révélée, et toute chair verra en même temps que la bouche du Seigneur a parlé.
6 The voice of one, saying: Cry. And I said: What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the glory thereof as the flower of the held.	6 Une voix dit : Crie. Et j'ai dit : Que crierai-je ? Toute chair est de l'herbe, et toute sa gloire est comme la fleur des champs.
7 The grass is withered, and the dower is fallen, because the spirit of the Lord hath blown upon it. Indeed the people is grass:	7 L'herbe s'est desséchée, et la fleur est tombée, parce que le souffle du Seigneur a soufflé dessus. Le peuple est vraiment de l'herbe ;
8 The grass is withered, and the flower is fallen: but the word of our Lord endureth for ever.	8 l'herbe s'est desséchée, et la fleur est tombée ; mais la parole de notre Seigneur demeure éternellement.
9 Get thee up upon a high mountain, thou that bringest good tidings to Sion: lift up thy voice with strength, thou that bringest good tidings to Jerusalem: lift it up, fear not. Say to the cities of Juda: Behold your God:	9 Monte sur une haute montagne, toi qui annonces la bonne nouvelle à (évangélises) Sion ; élève ta voix avec force, toi qui annonces la bonne nouvelle à (évangélises) Jérusalem ; élève-la, ne crains pas. Dis aux villes de Juda : Voici votre Dieu,
10 Behold the Lord God shall come with strength, and his arm shall rule: Behold his reward is with him and his work is before him.	10 voici que le Seigneur Dieu vient avec (viendra dans sa) puissance, et son bras dominera ; sa récompense est avec lui, et son œuvre est devant lui.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather together the lambs with his arm, and shall take them up in his bosom, and he himself shall carry them that are with young.	11 Comme un pasteur il fera paître son troupeau ; il réunira les agneaux dans ses bras, et il les prendra dans son sein ; il portera lui-même les brebis pleines.
12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and weighed the heavens with his palm? who hath poised with three fingers the bulk of the earth, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?	12 Qui a mesuré les eaux dans le creux de sa main (sa poignée), et qui a pesé les cieux dans sa paume ? qui soutient (a soutenu) de trois doigts la masse de la terre ? qui a pesé (équilibré) les montagnes avec un (au) poids et les collines dans la balance ?
13 Who hath forwarded the spirit of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor, and hath taught him?	13 Qui a aidé l'esprit du Seigneur ? Qui a été son conseiller et lui a montré ce qu'il devait faire (l'a enseigné) ?
14 With whom hath he consulted, and who hath instructed him, and taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and shewed him the way of understanding?	14 Qui a-t-il consulté pour en recevoir de l'instruction ? Qui lui a appris le sentier de la justice ? Qui lui a enseigné la science ? Qui lui a montré le chemin de la sagesse (prudence) ?
15 Behold the Gentiles are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the smallest grain of a balance: behold the islands are as a little dust.	15 Voici, les nations sont comme la goutte (coulant) d'un seau, et comme un grain dans (ce qui donne un mouvement à) la balance ; les îles sont comme une fine poussière.
16 And Libanus shall not be enough to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.	16 Le Liban ne suffirait pas pour le bûcher (allumer le feu de son autel), et ses animaux ne suffiraient pas pour l'holocauste.
17 All nations are before him as if they had no being at all, and are counted to him as nothing, and vanity.	17 Tous les peuples sont devant lui comme s'ils n'étaient pas, et il les regarde comme un rien et un néant.
18 To whom then have you likened God? or what image will you make for him?	18 A qui donc ferez-vous ressembler Dieu, et quelle image (forme) en tracerez-vous ?
19 Hath the workman cast a graven statue? or hath the goldsmith formed it with gold, or the silversmith with plates of silver?	19 L'ouvrier ne coule-il pas une statue en fonte ? L'orfèvre ne la couvre-t-il pas d'or, et celui qui travaille l'argent ne la (re)couvre-t-il pas de lames d'argent ?
20 He hath chosen strong wood, and that will not rot: the skilful workman seeketh how he may set up an idol that may not be moved.	20 L'ouvrier habile (Il) choisit un bois fort, qui ne pourrisse pas ; il (l'ouvrier habile) cherche comment il placera la statue, de sorte qu'elle ne branle pas.
21 Do you not know? hath it not been heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have you not understood the foundations of the earth ?	21 Ne le savez-vous pas ? Ne l'avez-vous pas appris ? Cela ne vous a-t-il pas été annoncé dès le commencement ? n'avez-vous pas compris comment la terre a été fondée (les fondements de la terre) ?
22 It is he that sitteth upon the globe of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as locusts: he that stretcheth out the heavens as nothing, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.	22 (N'avez-vous pas compris que) C'est lui qui est assis au-dessus du cercle de la terre, et ceux qui l'habitent sont comme des sauterelles ; il étend les cieux comme un rideau (rien), et il les déploie comme une tente (tabernacle) dressé(e) pour y habiter.
23 He that bringeth the searchers of secrets to nothing, that hath made the judges of the earth as vanity.	23 Il anéantit ceux qui recherchent les secrets, et il réduit à rien les (a fait des) juges de la terre (une chose vaine).
24 And surely their stock was neither planted, nor sown, nor rooted in the earth: suddenly he hath blown upon them, and they are withered, and a whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.	24 (A la vérité) Ils n'avaient pas (leur tronc n'avait) été (ni) planté(s) ni semé(s), et leur tronc n'avait pas jeté de racines en (ni enracine dans la) terre ; tout à coup il a soufflé sur eux, et ils se sont desséchés, le tourbillon les a emportés (emportera) comme le chaume.
25 And to whom have ye likened me, or made me equal, saith the Holy One?	25 A qui m'avez-vous assimilé et égalé ? dit le saint.
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these things: who bringeth out their host by number, and calleth them all by their names: by the greatness of his might, and strength, and power, not one of them was missing.	26 Levez vos yeux en haut, et voyez qui a créé ces choses, qui fait marcher en ordre l'armée des astres, et qui les appelle tous par leur nom ; il excelle tellement en grandeur, en vertu et en puissance, que pas un d'eux ne fait défaut (une seule ne manque).
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel: My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?	27 Pourquoi dis-tu, (ô) Jacob, pourquoi dis-tu, (ô) Israël : Ma voie est (a été) cachée au Seigneur, et mon droit passe inaperçu (jugement a été mis de côté) devant mon Dieu ?
28 Knowest thou not, or hast thou not heard? the Lord is the everlasting God, who hath created the ends of the earth: he shall not faint, nor labour, neither is there any searching out of his wisdom.	28 Ne le sais-tu pas, ou ne l'as-tu pas appris ? Dieu est le Seigneur éternel qui a créé les extrémités de la terre ; il ne se lasse pas, il ne se fatigue pas, et sa sagesse est impénétrable.
29 It is he that giveth strength to the weary, and increaseth force and might to them that are not.	29 Il donne de la force à celui qui est fatigué (las), et il multiplie la force et la vigueur de ceux qui sont en défaillance.
30 Youths shall faint, and labour, and young men shall fall by infirmity.	30 Les adolescents (enfants) se lasse(ro)nt et se fatigue(ro)nt, et les jeunes gens tombe(ro)nt de faiblesse ;
31 But they that hope in the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall take wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.	31 mais ceux qui espèrent au Seigneur renouvellent leur force ; ils prendront des ailes comme l'aigle, ils courront sans se fatiguer, et ils marcheront sans se lasser (et ne défailliront pas).
