Proverbi 16

DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Le disposizioni dell’animo son dell’uomo; Ma la risposta della lingua è dal Signore	1 A human heart makes the plans, Yahweh gives the answer.
2 Tutte le vie dell’uomo gli paiono pure; Ma il Signore pesa gli spiriti	2 A person's own acts seem right to the doer, but Yahweh is the weigher of souls.
3 Rimetti le tue opere nel Signore, E i tuoi pensieri saranno stabiliti	3 Commend what you do to Yahweh, and what you plan wil be achieved.
4 Il Signore ha fatto ogni cosa per sè stesso; Eziandio l’empio per lo giorno del male	4 Yahweh made everything for its own purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of disaster.
5 Chiunque è altiero d’animo è abbominevole al Signore; D’ora in ora egli non resterà impunito	5 Every arrogant heart is abhorrent to Yahweh: be sure this wil not go unpunished.
6 L’iniquità sarà purgata con benignità, e con verità; E per lo timor del Signore l’uomo si ritrae dal male	6 By faithful love and constancy sin is expiated; by fear of Yahweh evil is avoided.
7 Quando il Signore gradisce le vie dell’uomo, Pacifica con lui eziandio i suoi nemici	7 Let Yahweh be pleased with someone's way of life and he makes that person's very enemies intofriends.
8 Meglio vale poco con giustizia, Che grandi entrate senza dirittura	8 Better have little and with it uprightness than great revenues with injustice.
9 Il cuor dell’uomo delibera della sua via; Ma il Signore dirizza i suoi passi	9 The human heart may plan a course, but it is Yahweh who makes the steps secure.
10 Indovinamento è nelle labbra del re; La sua bocca non falla nel giudicio	10 The lips of the king utter prophecies, he keeps faith when he speaks in judgement.
11 La stadera, e le bilance giuste son del Signore; Tutti i pesi del sacchetto son sua opera	11 The balances and scales belong to Yahweh, al the weights in the bag are of his making.
12 Operare empiamente è abbominevole ai re; Perciocchè il trono sarà stabilito per giustizia	12 Evil-doing is abhorrent to kings, since uprightness is a throne's foundation.
13 Le labbra giuste son quelle che i re gradiscono; Ed essi amano chi parla dirittamente	13 Upright lips are welcome to a king, he loves someone of honest words.
14 L’ira del re son messi di morte; Ma l’uomo savio la placherà.	14 The king's wrath is the herald of death, but the wise will appease it.
15 Nella chiarezza della faccia del re vi è vita; E la sua benevolenza è come la nuvola della pioggia della stagione della ricolta	15 When the king's face brightens it spel s life, his favour is like the rain in spring.
16 Quant’è egli cosa migliore acquistar sapienza che oro! E quant’è egli cosa più eccellente acquistar prudenza che argento!	16 Better gain wisdom than gold, choose understanding in preference to silver.
17 La strada degli uomini diritti è di stornarsi dal male; Chi osserva la sua via guarda l’anima sua	17 To turn from evil is the way of the honest; whoever watches the path keeps life safe.
18 La superbia viene davanti alla ruina, E l’alterezza dello spirito davanti alla caduta	18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fal .
19 Meglio è essere umile di spirito co’ mansueti, Che spartir le spoglie con gli altieri	19 Better be humble with the poor than share the booty with the proud.
20 Chi è intendente nella parola troverà bene; E beato chi si confida nel Signore	20 Whoever listens closely to the word finds happiness; whoever trusts Yahweh is blessed.
21 Il savio di cuore sarà chiamato intendente; E la dolcezza delle labbra aggiugnerà dottrina	21 The wise of heart is acclaimed as intel igent, sweetness of speech increases knowledge.
22 Il senno è una fonte di vita in coloro che ne son dotati; Ma l’ammaestramento degli stolti è stoltizia	22 Shrewdness is a fountain of life for its possessor, the fol y of fools is their own punishment.
23 Il cuor dell’uomo savio rende avveduta la sua bocca, E aggiunge dottrina alle sue labbra	23 The heart of the wise lends shrewdness to speech and makes words more persuasive.
24 I detti soavi sono un favo di miele, Dolcezza all’anima, e medicina alle ossa	24 Kindly words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste, wholesome to the body.
25 Vi è tal via che pare diritta all’uomo, Il fine della quale son le vie della morte	25 There is a way that some think straight, but it leads in the end to death.
26 L’anima di chi si affatica si affatica per lui stesso; Perciocchè la sua bocca lo preme	26 A worker's appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger urges him on.
27 L’uomo scellerato apparecchia del male; E in su le sue labbra vi è come un fuoco ardente.	27 A worthless person concocts evil, such a one's talk is like a scorching fire.
28 L’uomo perverso commette contese; E chi va sparlando disunisce gli amici	28 A troublemaker sows strife, a slanderer divides friend from friend.
29 L’uomo violento seduce il suo compagno, E lo conduce per una via che non è buona.	29 The violent lures his neighbour astray and leads him by a way that is not good.
30 Chi chiude gli occhi macchinando perversità, Dimena le labbra quando ha compiuto il male	30 Whoever narrows the eyes to think up tricks and purses the lips has already done wrong.
31 La canutezza è una corona gloriosa; Ella si troverà nella via della giustizia	31 White hairs are a crown of honour, they are found in the ways of uprightness.
32 Meglio vale chi è lento all’ira, che il forte; E meglio vale chi signoreggia il suo cruccio, che un prenditor di città	32 Better an equable person than a hero, someone with self-mastery than one who takes a city.
33 La sorte è gittata nel grembo; Ma dal Signore procede tutto il giudicio di essa	33 In the fold of the garment the lot is thrown, but from Yahweh comes the decision.
