Ezequiel 19

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Entona una lamentación sobre los príncipes de Israel.	1 'Now, raise a lament for the princes of Israel.
2 Tú dirás: ¡Tu madre sí que era una leona en medio de los leones! Recostada entre los cachorros, amamantaba sus crías.	2 Say: What was your mother? A lioness among lions; lying among the cubs she nursed her whelps.
3 A uno de sus cachorros lo enalteció y él se convirtió en un león: aprendió a desgarrar su presa, devoró a los hombres.	3 She reared one of her whelps: he grew into a young lion; he learnt to tear his prey; he became a man-eater.
4 Pero las naciones se concertaron contra él y quedó atrapado en su fosa: así lo llevaron con garfios a la tierra de Egipto.	4 The nations came to hear of him; he was caught in their pit; they dragged him away with hooks toEgypt.
5 Al ver que nada podía esperar, que su esperanza estaba perdida, tomó a otro de sus cachorros e hizo de él un león.	5 Her expectation thwarted, and seeing her hope dashed, she took another of her whelps and made ayoung lion of him.
6 El se paseaba entre los leones, convertido en un león: aprendió a desgarrar su presa, devoró a los hombres.	6 He prowled among the lions, he grew into a young lion, he learnt to tear his prey; he became a man-eater.
7 Hizo estragos en sus palacios, devastó sus ciudades; la tierra y sus habitantes se espantaron por el fragor de sus rugidos.	7 He tore down their palaces, he destroyed their cities; the land and al its inhabitants were appal ed bythe sound of his roars.
8 Las naciones marcharon contra él, desde las regiones circundantes: tendieron sus redes contra él, y quedó atrapado en su fosa.	8 The nations marched out against him from the surrounding provinces; they spread their net over him;he was caught in their pit.
9 Lo encerraron con garfios en una jaula, lo llevaron al rey de Babilonia y lo pusieron en una fortaleza, para que no volviera a oírse su voz por las montañas de Israel.	9 They shackled him with hooks, they took him to the king of Babylon and threw him into a fortress, sothat his voice could never again be heard on the mountains of Israel.
10 Tu madre se parecía a una vid, plantada al borde de las aguas: desbordada de frutos y de hojas, porque el agua era abundante.	10 Your mother was like a vine planted beside the water, fruitful and leafy, because the water flowed soful .
11 Le salieron unas ramas vigorosas, que fueron cetros de soberanos. Su talla se elevó por encima del follaje, era bien visible por su altura, por la abundancia de sus ramas.	11 She had stout stems which became kingly sceptres; she grew higher and higher, up into the clouds;she was admired for her height and the number of her branches.
12 Pero fue arrancada con furor y arrojada por el suelo. El viento del este secó sus frutos, que fueron cortados y se secaron; y el fuego devoró su rama vigorosa.	12 But she was furiously uprooted and thrown on the ground; the east wind dried up her fruit, she wasbroken to pieces; her stout stem dried up, the fire devoured it.
13 Ahora está plantada en el desierto, en una tierra reseca y sedienta.	13 Now she has been transplanted to the desert, to a dry and thirsty land.
14 De su rama ha salido un fuego que devoró sus ramas y sus frutos. Ya no hay en ella ninguna rama vigorosa, ningún cetro de soberanos. Esta es una lamentación, y se la canta como tal.	14 Fire burst out of her stem devouring her branches and fruit. No more stout stem for her, no morekingly sceptre.' This is a lament; it was used as such.
