Abisai disse: Eu descerei contigo. | 6 Speaking to Ahimelech the Hittite and Abishai son of Zeruiah and brother of Joab, David said, 'Whowil come down with me to the camp, to Saul?' Abishai answered, 'I will go down with you.' |
| 7 Foram, pois, Davide e Abisai de noite ao povo, e encontraram Saul deitado e dormindo na sua tenda com a sua lança fixa na terra, à cabeceira, e Abner e toda a sua gente dormindo ao redor dele. | 7 So in the dark David and Abishai made their way towards the force, where they found Saul lyingasleep inside the camp, his spear stuck in the ground beside his head, with Abner and the troops lying roundhim. |
| 8 Abisai disse a Davide: Deus entregou-te hoje nas mãos o teu inimigo; agora, peço-te, deixa-mo pregar à terra com a lança, dum só golpe: (um só golpe bastará) não será necessário segundo. | 8 Abishai then said to David, 'Today God has put your enemy in your power; so now let me pin him tothe ground with his own spear. Just one stroke! I shal not need to strike him twice.' |
| 9 Davide disse a Abisai: Não o mates! Quem estenderá a sua mão, contra o ungido do Senhor, e ficará impune? | 9 David said to Abishai, 'Do not kil him, for who could raise his hand against Yahweh's anointed and gounpunished? |
| 10 Davide disse: Viva o Senhor que, a não ser que o Senhor o mate, ou chegue o dia da sua morte, ou pereça estando em batalha, (não morrerá); | 10 As Yahweh lives,' David said, 'Yahweh himself wil strike him down: either the day wil come for himto die, or he will go into battle and perish then. |
| 11 não permita o Senhor que eu estenda a minha mão contra o ungido do Senhor. Toma a lança, que está à sua cabeceira, e o copo da água, e vamo-nos. | 11 Yahweh forbid that I should raise my hand against Yahweh's anointed! But now let us take the spearbeside his head and the pitcher of water, and let us go away.' |

Todos dormiam, porque o Senhor os tinha sepultado num profundo sono. | 12 David took the spear and the pitcher of water from beside Saul's head, and they made off. No onesaw, no one knew, no one woke up; they were al asleep, because a torpor from Yahweh had fal en on them. |
| 13 Tendo Davide passado á parte oposta e parado ao longe, no alto do monte, havendo entre eles grande distância, | 13 David crossed to the other side and halted on the top of the mountain a long way off; there was awide space between them. |
| 14 bradou ao povo, e a Abner filho de Ner, dizendo: Não responderás Abner? Abner, respondendo, disse: Quem és tu que estás gritando e desassossegas o rei? | 14 David then cal ed out to the troops and to Abner son of Ner, 'Abner, why don't you answer?' Abnerreplied, 'Who is that calling?' |
| 15 Davide disse a Abner: Não és tu um homem (valente)? E quem há em Israel como tu? Como, pois, não guardaste o rei, teu Senhor? Alguém do povo entrou aí para matar o rei, teu senhor. | 15 David said to Abner, 'Are you not a man? Who is your equal in Israel? Why, then, did you not guardthe king your lord? One of the people came to kill the king your lord. |
| 16 Não é bom isto, que fizeste; viva o Senhor, que vós mereceis a morte, vós que tão mal guardastes o vosso amo, o ungido do Senhor; vede, agora, onde está a lança do rei, onde está o copo da água, que estava à sua cabeceira. | 16 What you did was not wel done. As Yahweh lives, you all deserve to die since you did not guardyour lord, Yahweh's anointed. Look where the king's spear is now, and the pitcher of water which was beside hishead!' |
| 17 Saul reconheceu a voz de Davide e disse: Não é esta a tua voz, meu filho Davide? Davide disse: É a minha voz, ó rei, meu senhor. | 17 Recognising David's voice, Saul said, 'Is that your voice, my son David?' David replied, 'It is myvoice, my lord king. |
| 18 E acrescentou: Por que motivo persegue o meu senhor o seu servo? Que fiz eu? Que maldade está na minha mão? | 18 Why is my lord pursuing his servant?' he said. 'What have I done? What crime have I committed? |
| 19 Ouve, pois, agora, te rogo, ó rei meu senhor, as palavras de teu servo: Se o Senhor te incita contra mim, receba ele o perfume do meu sacrifício; se, porém, são os filhos dos homens, malditos sejam diante do Senhor, porque me expulsaram hoje, para que eu não habite na herança do Senhor, dizendo: Vai, serve a deuses estranhos. | 19 May my lord king now listen to his servant's words: if Yahweh has incited you against me, may he beappeased with an offering; but if human beings have done it, may they be accursed before Yahweh, since theyhave as effectively banished me today from sharing in Yahweh's heritage as if they had said, "Go and serveother gods!" |
| 20 E agora não seja derramado o meu sangue na terra, diante do Senhor, porque o rei de Israel saiu em busca duma pulga, assim como se persegue uma perdiz pelos montes. | 20 So I pray now that my blood shall not be shed on soil remote from Yahweh's presence, when theking of Israel has mounted an expedition to take my life, as one might hunt a partridge in the mountains!' |
| 21 Saul disse: Pequei; volta, meu filho Davide, porque não te tornarei a fazer mal daqui em diante, pois que a minha vida foi hoje preciosa aos teus olhos, porque é manifesto que procedi nesciamente e que cometi uma grande falta. | 21 Saul replied, 'I have done wrong! Come back, my son David; I shal never harm you again, sincetoday you have shown respect for my life. Yes, I have behaved like a fool, I have been profoundly in the wrong.' |
| 22 Respondendo Davide, disse: Eis a lança do rei; venha cá um de seus criados, e leve-a. | 22 In reply, David said, 'Here is the king's spear. Let one of the men come across and get it. |
| 23 O Senhor retribuirá a cada um conforme a sua justiça e fidelidade; o Senhor entregou-te hoje na minha mão, e eu não quis estender a minha mão contra o ungido do Senhor. | 23 May Yahweh reward each as each has been upright and loyal. Today Yahweh put you in my powerbut I would not raise my hand against Yahweh's anointed. |
| 24 Assim como a tua vida foi hoje preciosa aos meus olhos, assim a minha seja preciosa aos olhos do Senhor, e ele me livre de toda a tribulação. | 24 As today I set great value by your life, so may Yahweh set great value by my life and deliver me fromevery tribulation!' |
| 25 Disse Saul a Davide: Bem-dito sejas tu, meu filho Davide; certamente serás bem sucedido nas tuas empresas. Com isto foi Davide ao seu caminho, e Saul voltou para sua casa. | 25 Saul then said, 'May you be blessed, my son David! In what you undertake, you wil certainlysucceed.' David then went on his way and Saul returned home. |
