He has cast down from heaven to earth the glory of Israel, Unmindful of his footstool on the day of his wrath. |

O Senhor destruiu, sem piedade, todas as moradas de Jacob: destruiu no seu furor as fortificações da filha de Judá, lançou-as por terra; rebaixou o reino e os seus príncipes. | 2 The Lord has consumed without pity all the dwellings of Jacob; He has torn down in his anger the fortresses of daughter Judah; He has brought to the ground in dishonor her king and her princes. |

O Senhor resolveu destruir os muros da filha de Sião; estendeu o seu cordel, e não retirou a sua mão, sem que ficasse tudo arruinado; enlutou o muro e antemuro, que estão, igualmente, desolados. | 8 The LORD marked for destruction the wall of daughter Zion: He stretched out the measuring line; his hand brought ruin, yet he did not relent-- He brought grief on wall and rampart till both succumbed. |

As suas portas estão sepultadas na terra; (o Senhor) destruiu, fez em pedaços as suas trancas; o seu rei e os seus príncipes estão entre as nações; já não há lei; os seus profetas já não conseguem visões do Senhor. | 9 Sunk into the ground are her gates; he has removed and broken her bars. Her king and her princes are among the pagans; priestly instruction is wanting, And her prophets have not received any vision from the LORD. |
| 10 JOD. Sentaram-se em terra, em silêncio, os velhos da filha de Sião; cobriram as suas cabeças de cinza, cingiram-se de cilícios. Inclinaram as suas cabeças até à terra, as virgens de Jerusalém. | 10 On the ground in silence sit the old men of daughter Zion; They strew dust on their heads and gird themselves with sackcloth; The maidens of Jerusalem bow their heads to the ground. |

Os meus olhos enfraqueceram de tanto chorar, as minhas entranhas turbaram-se, o meu fígado derramou-se por terra vendo a ruína da filha do meu povo, quando caíam mortos os meninos e as crianças de peito nas praças da cidade. | 11 Worn out from weeping are my eyes, within me all is in ferment; My gall is poured out on the ground because of the downfall of the daughter of my people, As child and infant faint away in the open spaces of the town. |

Os teus profetas anunciaram, a teu respeito, visões vãs e insensatas, e não te manifestaram a tua iniquidade, para te evitarem o cativeiro, mas anunciaram-te visões de engano e de mentira. | 14 Your prophets had for you false and specious visions; They did not lay bare your guilt, to avert your fate; They beheld for you in vision false and misleading portents. |
| 15 SAMEC. Batiam com as mãos, vendo-te todos os que passavam pelo caminho; assobiavam e abanavam a cabeça contra a filha de Jerusalém. Eis a cidade (diziam eles) de perfeita formosura, as delícias de toda a terra! | 15 All who pass by clap their hands at you; They hiss and wag their heads over daughter Jerusalem: "Is this the all-beautiful city, the joy of the whole earth?" |
| 16 FB. Abriam contra ti a sua boca todos os teus inimigos; assobiavam e rangiam os dentes, dizendo; Devorámo-la! Eis o dia que esperávamos; aqui o temos, aqui o vemos. | 16 All your enemies open their mouths against you; They hiss and gnash their teeth. They say, "We have devoured her. This at last is the day we hoped for; we have lived to see it!" |

O Senhor fez o que tinha planejado, cumpriu a palavra que tinha pronunciado desde os tempos antigos; destruiu sem piedade, alegrou o inimigo a teu respeito, exaltou o poder dos teus adversários. | 17 The LORD has done as he decreed: he has fulfilled the threat He set forth from days of old; he has destroyed and had no pity, Letting the enemy gloat over you and exalting the horn of your foes. |
| 18 SADE. O seu coração clama ao Senhor! Ó muralha da filha de Sião, faze correr uma como torrente de lágrimas de dia e de noite; não te dês descanso algum. não repouse a pupila dos teus olhos. | 18 Cry out to the Lord; moan, O daughter Zion! Let your tears flow like a torrent day and night; Let there be no respite for you, no repose for your eyes. |

| 20 RBS. Vê, Senhor, e considera: a quem trataste, alguma vez, assim? Há mulheres que comem os frutos das suas entranhas, os filhinhos embalados no seu regaço! Chamaste, como a um dia de solenidade, os que deviam aterrar-me de todas as partes; não houve no dia do furor do Senhor quem escapasse, quem ficasse com vida; aqueles que acarinhei e criei o meu Inimigo os exterminou. | 22 "You summoned as for a feast day terrors against me from all sides; There was not, on the day of your wrath, either fugitive or survivor; Those whom I bore and reared my enemy has utterly destroyed." |
