| 1 Alegra-te, estéril, que não dás à luz; entoa cânticos de júbilo, tu que não sentes as dores do parto, porque os filhos da desamparada são muito mais do que os daquela que tem marido, diz o Senhor. | 1 Shout for joy, barren one who has borne no children! Break into cries and shouts of joy, you who werenever in labour! For the children of the forsaken one are more in number than the children of the wedded wife,says Yahweh. |
| 2 Alarga o espaço da tua tenda, estende quanto puderes as peles da tua cobertura, estica as tuas cordas e segura as tuas estacas, | 2 Widen the space of your tent, extend the curtains of your home, do not hold back! Lengthen your ropes,make your tent-pegs firm, |
| 3 porque tu te estenderás para a direita e para a esquerda, e a tua posteridade tomará posse das nações e povoará as cidades desertas. | 3 for you wil burst out to right and to left, your race wil dispossess the nations and repopulate desertedtowns. |
| 4 Não temas, porque não serás confundida, não te envergonhes porquanto não terás de que te envergonhar, pois te esquecerás da confusão da tua mocidade e não te lembrarás mais do opróbrio da tua viuvez. | 4 Do not fear, you wil not be put to shame again, do not worry, you will not be disgraced again; for youwil forget the shame of your youth and no longer remember the dishonour of your widowhood. |
| 5 Com efeito, o teu esposo é o teu Criador, que se chama Senhor dos exércitos; o teu redentor é o Santo de Israel, chamado o Deus de toda a terra. | 5 For your Creator is your husband, Yahweh Sabaoth is his name, the Holy One of Israel is yourredeemer, he is cal ed God of the whole world. |
| 6 O Senhor te chamou, como uma mulher desamparada e angustiada, como uma mulher repudiada desde a mocidade, disse o teu Deus. | 6 Yes, Yahweh has cal ed you back like a forsaken, grief-stricken wife, like the repudiated wife of hisyouth, says your God. |
| 7 Por um momento, por um breve espaço te abandonei, mas (agora) te congrego com grande misericórdia. | 7 I did forsake you for a brief moment, but in great compassion I shal take you back. |
| 8 No momento da minha indignação escondi de ti, por um pouco, a minha face, porém compadeci-me de ti, com um amor eterno, diz o Senhor, teu Redentor. | 8 In a flood of anger, for a moment I hid my face from you. But in everlasting love I have taken pity onyou, says Yahweh, your redeemer. |
| 9 Eu faço por ti como fiz nos dias de Noé, a quem jurei que não mais derramaria as águas (do dilúvio) sobre a terra; jurei não mais me irritar contra ti, nem te aterrorizar. | 9 For me it wil be as in the days of Noah when I swore that Noah's waters should never flood the worldagain. So now I swear never to be angry with you and never to rebuke you again. |
| 10 Ainda que os montes sejam abalados e tremam as colinas, o meu amor não se apartará de ti, a minha aliança de paz não se mudará, diz o Senhor, compadecido de ti. | 10 For the mountains may go away and the hil s may totter, but my faithful love wil never leave you, mycovenant of peace will never totter, says Yahweh who takes pity on you. |
| 11 Infeliz, combatida da tempestade, sem consolação alguma, eis que te vou edificar sobre jaspe, fundar sobre safiras; | 11 Unhappy creature, storm-tossed, unpitied, look, I shal lay your stones on agates and your foundationson sapphires. |
| 12 farei as tuas ameias de rubis, as tuas portas de carbúnculo, uma muralha envolvente de pedras preciosas. | 12 I shal make your battlements rubies, your gateways firestone and your entire wal precious stones. |
| 13 Todos os teus filhos serão instruídos pelo Senhor e gozarão duma grande paz. | 13 Al your children wil be taught by Yahweh and great wil be your children's prosperity. |
| 14 Serás fundada sobre a justiça; estarás livre da opressão, pois nada terás a temer, e do pavor, pois não chegará a ti. | 14 In saving justice you will be made firm, free from oppression: you will have nothing to fear; free fromterror: it wil not approach you. |
| 15 Se te atacarem, não será da minha parte, e quem te atacar cairá diante de ti. | 15 Should anyone attack you, that wil not be my doing, and whoever does attack you, for your sake willfal . |
| 16 Fui eu que criei o ferreiro que sopra sobre os carvões ardentes e que daí retira a arma que deve trabalhar: fui eu que criei o destruidor para destruir | 16 I created the smith who blows on the charcoal-fire to produce a weapon for his use; I also created thedestroyer to ruin it. |
| 17 Toda a arma fabricada contra ti, não terá préstimo; e tu condenarás toda a língua que se apresente em juízo contra ti. Esta é a herança dos servos do Senhor, esta a justiça que lhes virá de mim, diz o Senhor. | 17 No weapon forged against you wil succeed. Any voice raised against you in court you will refute.Such is the lot of the servants of Yahweh, the saving justice I assure them, declares Yahweh. |
