| 4 Era do número dos cativos, que Nabucodonosor, rei de Babilônia, tinha levado de Jerusalém com Jeconias, rei de Judá. | 4 He was one of the captives whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had brought from Jerusalem with Jeconiah king of Judea. And this was his dream: |
| 5 O seu sonho foi este: Pareceu-lhe ouvir vozes, estrondos, trovões, terremotos e perturbações sobre a terra. | 5 Behold, noise and confusion, thunders and earthquake, tumult upon the earth! |
| 6 Depois, subitamente, apareceram dois grandes dragões, prontos para combater um contra o outro. | 6 And behold, two great dragons came forward, both ready to fight, and they roared terribly. |
| 7 Ao grito deles, alvoroçaram-se todas as nações para combater o povo dos justos, | 7 And at their roaring every nation prepared for war, to fight against the nation of the righteous. |
| 8 Foi aquele um dia de trevas e de perigo, de tribulação e de angústia, e houve grande temor sobre a terra. | 8 And behold, a day of darkness and gloom, tribulation and distress, affliction and great tumult upon the earth! |
| 9 Conturbou-se a nação dos justos, temendo os seus males, e preparou-se para a morte. | 9 And the whole righteous nation was troubled; they feared the evils that threatened them, and were ready to perish. |
| 10 Clamaram a Deus, e, quando levantaram o grito, uma pequena fonte tornou-se um rio muito grande, e derramou águas em grandíssima abundância. | 10 Then they cried to God; and from their cry, as though from a tiny spring there came a great river, with abundant water; |
| 11 A luz e o sol brilharam, e os humildes foram exaltados e devoraram os grandes. | 11 light came, and the sun rose, and the lowly were exalted and consumed those held in honor. |
| 12 Quando Mardoqueu viu isto, levantou-se do leito e pôs-se a pensar no que Deus quereria fazer; tinha o sonho fixo em seu espírito, desejando saber o que significaria. | 12 Mordecai saw in his dream what God had determined to do, and after he awoke he had it on his mind and sought all day to understand it in every detail. |
