1 Ils étaient déjà près de Jérusalem et ils entraient dans Bethphagé sur le mont des Oliviers. Alors Jésus envoya deux disciples	1 And when they had drawn near to Jerusalem, and had arrived at Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2 en leur disant: "Allez jusqu’au village d’en face. Vous trouverez tout de suite une ânesse attachée avec son petit. Vous la détacherez et vous me l’amènerez.	2 saying to them: “Go into the town that is opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Release them, and lead them to me.
3 Et si quelqu’un vous dit quelque chose, répondez que le Seigneur en a besoin mais qu’il les renverra aussitôt.”	3 And if anyone will have said anything to you, say that the Lord has need of them. And he will promptly dismiss them.”
4 C’est ainsi que se réalisa la parole du prophète:	4 Now all this was done in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet, saying,
5 Dites à la fille de Sion: ‘Voici que ton roi vient à toi, pacifique et monté sur un âne, sur un ânon né pour servir.’	5 “Tell the daughter of Zion: Behold, your king comes to you meekly, sitting on a donkey and on a colt, the son of one accustomed to the yoke.”
6 Les disciples allèrent et firent comme Jésus leur avait ordonné.	6 Then the disciples, going out, did just as Jesus instructed them.
7 Ils amenèrent l’ânesse et l’ânon; ils les couvrirent de leurs manteaux et Jésus s’assit dessus.	7 And they brought the donkey and the colt, and they laid their garments on them, and they helped him sit upon them.
8 La foule était très nombreuse; certains étendaient leurs manteaux sur le chemin, d’autres coupaient des rameaux sur les arbres et en couvraient le chemin.	8 Then a very numerous crowd spread their garments on the way. But others cut branches from the trees and scattered them on the way.
9 La foule qui allait devant ou qui suivait lançait des acclamations: "Hosanna pour le fils de David! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Hosanna dans les hauteurs du ciel!”	9 And the crowds that preceded him, and those that followed, cried out, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!”
10 Lorsque Jésus entra dans Jérusalem, toute la ville commença à s’agiter. On disait: "Qui est-ce?”	10 And when he had entered into Jerusalem, the entire city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
11 Et les gens répondaient: "C’est le prophète Jésus, de Nazareth en Galilée!”	11 But the people were saying, “This is Jesus, the Prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”
12 Jésus entra dans le Temple et il mit dehors tous ceux qui vendaient ou achetaient dans le Temple. Il retournait les tables des changeurs de monnaie et les sièges des vendeurs de colombes.	12 And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and he cast out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the chairs of the vendors of doves.
13 Il leur disait: "Il est écrit: Ma maison sera appelée Maison de Prière, mais vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de voleurs.”	13 And he said to them: “It is written: ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer. But you have made it into a den of robbers.’ ”
14 Dans le Temple, des aveugles et des éclopés vinrent à lui et il les guérit.	14 And the blind and the lame drew near to him in the temple; and he healed them.
15 Les chefs des prêtres et les maîtres de la Loi voyaient tous les prodiges que Jésus réalisait; ils voyaient aussi les enfants qui criaient dans le Temple: “Hosanna au fils de David!” et ils étaient furieux.	15 Then the leaders of the priests and the scribes became indignant, seeing the miracles that he wrought, and the children crying out in the temple, saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!”
16 Ils lui dirent: "Entends-tu ce qu’ils disent?” Et Jésus leur répondit: "Bien sûr. N’avez-vous jamais lu ces paroles: Tu as mis ta louange dans la bouche des enfants et des nourrissons?”	16 And they said to him, “Do you hear what these ones are saying?” But Jesus said to them, “Certainly. Have you never read: For out of the mouth of babes and infants, you have perfected praise?”
17 Puis Jésus les laissa et sortit de la ville en direction de Béthanie pour y passer la nuit.	17 And leaving them behind, he went out, beyond the city, into Bethania, and he lodged here.
18 Au matin, comme Jésus regagnait la ville, il eut faim.	18 Then, as he was returning to the city in the morning, he was hungry.
19 Il alla droit à un figuier qu’il avait vu près du chemin, mais il n’y trouva rien: il n’y avait que des feuilles. Alors il s’adressa à l’arbre: "Tu ne donneras plus de fruits, plus jamais!” Et au même instant le figuier devint sec.	19 And seeing a certain fig tree beside the way, he approached it. And he found nothing on it, except only leaves. And he said to it, “May fruit never spring forth from you, for all time.” And immediately the fig tree was dried up.
20 En voyant cela les disciples étaient tout étonnés et ils lui demandaient: "Mais comment le figuier est-il devenu sec d’un seul coup?”	20 And seeing this, the disciples wondered, saying, “How did it dry up so quickly?”
21 Alors Jésus leur dit: "En vérité, je vous le dis, si vous avez la foi au point de ne pas hésiter, vous ferez beaucoup plus que de dessécher ce figuier; vous direz à la montagne: ‘Enlève-toi de là et jette-toi dans la mer’, et cela se fera.	21 And Jesus responded to them by saying: “Amen I say to you, if you have faith and do not hesitate, not only shall you do this, concerning the fig tree, but even if you would say to this mountain, ‘Take and cast yourself into the sea,’ it shall be done.
22 Tout ce que vous pouvez demander dans la prière, avec la foi vous l’obtiendrez.”	22 And all things whatsoever that you shall ask for in prayer: believing, you shall receive.”
23 Jésus entra dans le Temple. Il était là en train d’enseigner quand les chefs des prêtres et les anciens du peuple s’approchèrent pour lui demander: "De quelle autorité fais-tu tout cela? Qui t’a chargé de le faire?”	23 And when he had arrived at the temple, as he was teaching, the leaders of the priests and the elders of the people approached him, saying: “By what authority do you do these things? And who has given this authority to you?”
24 Jésus leur dit: "Eh bien moi aussi je vais vous poser une question, une seule:	24 In response, Jesus said to them: “I also will question you with one word: if you tell me this, I also will tell you by what authority I do these things.
25 Quand Jean s’est mis à baptiser, était-ce une initiative du Ciel, ou bien humaine?” Les autres commencent à se dire: "Si nous parlons d’une initiative divine, il nous dira: ‘Pourquoi n’avez-vous pas cru en lui?’	25 The baptism of John, where was it from? Was it from heaven, or from men?” But they thought within themselves, saying:
26 Et si nous disons que c’était une chose purement humaine, gare au peuple! Car tous considèrent Jean comme un prophète.”	26 “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’ But if we say, ‘From men,’ we have the crowd to fear, for they all hold John to be a prophet.”
27 Aussi répondent-ils à Jésus: "Nous ne savons pas.” Et lui de leur dire: "Je ne vous dirai pas non plus de quel droit je fais tout cela.”	27 And so, they answered Jesus by saying, “We do not know.” So he also said to them: “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.
28 “Mais donnez-moi plutôt votre avis: un homme avait deux fils. Il s’adresse au premier pour lui dire: ‘Mon garçon, va travailler aujourd’hui à ma vigne.’	28 But how does it seem to you? A certain man had two sons. And approaching the first, he said: ‘Son, go out today to work in my vineyard.’
29 Et lui répond: ‘Je n’en ai pas envie’. Mais ensuite il se reprend et il y va.	29 And responding, he said, ‘I am not willing.’ But afterwards, being moved by repentance, he went.
30 Le père s’adresse également à l’autre et lui dit la même chose; il répond: ‘Bien sûr que oui, seigneur!’ Mais il n’y va pas.	30 And approaching the other, he spoke similarly. And answering, he said, ‘I am going, lord.’ And he did not go.
31 Lequel des deux a fait la volonté du père?” Ils répondent: "Le premier.” Alors Jésus leur dit: "En vérité, je vous le dis, les collecteurs de l’impôt et les prostituées vous devancent sur le chemin du Royaume de Dieu.	31 Which of the two did the will of the father?” They said to him, “The first.” Jesus said to them: “Amen I say to you, that tax collectors and prostitutes shall precede you, into the kingdom of God.
32 Car Jean est venu vous montrer le chemin de la justice, mais vous n’avez pas cru en lui, alors que les collecteurs de l’impôt et les prostituées croyaient en lui. Et malgré leur exemple, vous ne vous êtes pas repris: même après coup vous n’avez pas cru en lui.”	32 For John came to you in the way of justice, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. Yet even after seeing this, you did not repent, so as to believe him.
33 “Écoutez donc une autre parabole: un propriétaire a planté une vigne; il l’a entourée d’un mur, il a creusé un pressoir, il a bâti un abri pour le garde. Et puis il l’a remise à des fermiers pendant que lui s’en allait à l’étranger.	33 Listen to another parable. There was a man, the father of a family, who planted a vineyard, and surrounded it with a hedge, and dug a press in it, and built a tower. And he loaned it out to farmers, and he set out to sojourn abroad.
34 “Or voici qu’arrive le moment de la récolte, et il envoie ses serviteurs pour rencontrer les fermiers et prendre sa part de la récolte.	34 Then, when the time of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the farmers, so that they might receive its fruits.
35 Mais les fermiers se rendent maîtres des serviteurs: ils frappent l’un, tuent l’autre et assomment un troisième à coups de pierres.	35 And the farmers apprehended his servants; they struck one, and killed another, and stoned yet another.
36 De nouveau des serviteurs sont envoyés, plus nombreux que les premiers, mais on les traite de la même manière.	36 Again, he sent other servants, more than before; and they treated them similarly.
37 “Alors lui, pour finir, leur envoie son fils. Il pensait en effet: ‘Ils auront du respect pour mon fils.’	37 Then, at the very end, he sent his son to them, saying: ‘They will revere my son.’
38 “Mais lorsque les fermiers voient le fils, ils se disent: ‘C’est lui l’héritier; allons-y, tuons-le, et son héritage sera à nous.’	38 But the farmers, seeing the son, said among themselves: ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and then we will have his inheritance.’
39 Ils le saisissent donc, le jettent hors de la vigne et le tuent.	39 And apprehending him, they cast him outside the vineyard, and they killed him.
40 Maintenant, lorsque le maître de la vigne se présentera, comment va-t-il traiter ces fermiers?”	40 Therefore, when the lord of the vineyard arrives, what will he do to those farmers?”
41 Les autres répondent: "Il enverra ces misérables à la mort qu’ils méritent et il remettra la vigne à d’autres fermiers: ceux-là lui en donneront les fruits quand viendra la saison.”	41 They said to him, “He will bring those evil men to an evil end, and he will loan out his vineyard to other farmers, who shall repay to him the fruit in its time.”
42 Jésus leur dit: “Peut-être avez-vous lu ceci dans les Écritures: La pierre rejetée par les constructeurs est devenue la pierre d’angle. C’est le Seigneur qui l’avait donnée, et nous restons à l’admirer.	42 Jesus said to them: “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone that the builders have rejected has become the cornerstone. By the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes?’
43 “Aussi je vous dis que le Royaume de Dieu vous sera enlevé pour être donné à un peuple qui en produira les fruits.	43 Therefore, I say to you, that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and it shall be given to a people who shall produce its fruits.
44 Quant à la pierre, celui qui tombera sur elle se brisera, et celui sur qui elle tombera, elle l’écrasera!”	44 And whoever will have fallen on this stone shall be broken, yet truly, on whomever it shall fall, it will crush him.”
45 Les chefs des prêtres et les Pharisiens écoutaient ces paraboles, et ils comprirent que Jésus parlait pour eux.	45 And when the leaders of the priests, and the Pharisees had heard his parables, they knew that he was speaking about them.
46 Ils auraient voulu s’emparer de lui, mais ils craignaient la foule qui voyait en Jésus un prophète.	46 And though they sought to take hold of him, they feared the crowds, because they held him to be a prophet.
