Prima Epistola di Santo Paulo alli Tessalonicesi 5

1 Delli tempi e momenti, fratelli, non è bisogno che scriviamo a voi.	1 About times and dates, brothers, there is no need to write to you
2 Chè voi medesimi sapete apertamente, che il dì del Signore così verrà (subitamente), come viene il furone di notte.	2 for you are wel aware in any case that the Day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night.
3 Chè quando gli uomini diranno: pace e securità, allora repentinamente verrà sopra loro pericolo, sì come (subitamente) viene il dolore a quella che dee parturire, e non potranno campare.	3 It is when people are saying, 'How quiet and peaceful it is' that sudden destruction fal s on them, assuddenly as labour pains come on a pregnant woman; and there is no escape.
4 Ma voi, fratelli, non siete nelle tenebre, chè quello die comprenda voi come latrone.	4 But you, brothers, do not live in the dark, that the Day should take you unawares like a thief.
5 Imperò [che] tutti voi siete figliuoli della luce, e figliuoli del dì; e non siete figliuoli della notte, nè delle tenebre.	5 No, you are al children of light and children of the day: we do not belong to the night or to darkness,
6 Adunque non dormiamo sì come tutti gli altri; ma vegliamo e siamo temperati (in mangiare e in bere).	6 so we should not go on sleeping, as everyone else does, but stay wide awake and sober.
7 Chè quelli che dormono, nella notte (cioè nel peccato) dormono; e quelli che son ebrii, nella notte sono ebrii.	7 Night is the time for sleepers to sleep and night the time for drunkards to be drunk,
8 Ma noi, che siamo figliuoli del dì, siamo temperati; e abbiamo indosso la panciera della fede; abbiamo l' elmo della speranza e della salute.	8 but we belong to the day and we should be sober; let us put on faith and love for a breastplate, and thehope of salvation for a helmet.
9 Chè Dio non puose noi sopra l' ira, ma sopra acquistamento di salute per il nostro Signore Iesù. Cristo.	9 God destined us not for his retribution, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 Il quale fu morto per noi, acciò che se noi vegliamo, ovver se noi dormiamo, insieme con lui viviamo.	10 who died for us so that, awake or asleep, we should stil live united to him.
11 Per la qual cosa consolatevi insieme, e l' uno all' altro dia buono edificamento, sì come voi fate.	11 So give encouragement to each other, and keep strengthening one another, as you do already.
12 Fratelli, preghiamo voi, che conosciate coloro che si affaticano intra voi, e sopra stanno a voi nel Signore Dio, e (quelli che) ammoniscono voi,	12 We appeal to you, my brothers, to be considerate to those who work so hard among you as yourleaders in the Lord and those who admonish you.
13 che gli abbiate grandemente in amore, per (la fatica e per) l'opera di loro; e abbiate pace in essi.	13 Have the greatest respect and affection for them because of their work. Be at peace amongyourselves.
14 Preghiamo voi, fratelli, ancora, che riprendiate coloro che (non si posano e che) non stanno in quiete, e consoliate coloro che siano fragili nei loro animi, riceviate li infermi e siate pazienti a tutti.	14 We urge you, brothers, to admonish those who are undisciplined, encourage the apprehensive,support the weak and be patient with everyone.
15 Guardate che niuno non renda male per male ad alcuno; ma sempre adoperate quelle cose che son buone intra voi e a tutte genti.	15 Make sure that people do not try to repay evil for evil; always aim at what is best for each other and foreveryone.
16 Godete sempre (nel Signore).	16 Always be joyful;
17 E senza intermissione orate.	17 pray constantly;
18 In iutte le cose riferite grazie (a Dio); imperò che questa è la volontà di Dio per Iesù Cristo, in tutti voi.	18 and for al things give thanks; this is the wil of God for you in Christ Jesus.
19 Il spirito (che è ardente), non lo spegnete.	19 Do not stifle the Spirit
20 Non abbiate in dispetto (nè per niente) le profezie.	20 or despise the gift of prophecy with contempt;
21 Tutte le cose provate; e quello ch' è buono tenete.	21 test everything and hold on to what is good
22 Astenetevi da ogni (cosa e) specie mala (e perversa).	22 and shun every form of evil.
23 E Dio di (tutta) pace santifichi voi in tutte le cose, sì che il vostro spirito rimanga intiero, e l'anima e il corpo sia senza alcuno reo lamento, e sia servato nell' avvenimento del nostro Signore Iesù Cristo.	23 May the God of peace make you perfect and holy; and may your spirit, life and body be keptblameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Dio sì è fedele, il quale chiamò voi; e farà queste cose.	24 He who has cal ed you is trustworthy and wil carry it out.
25 Fratelli, orate per noi.	25 Pray for us, my brothers.
26 Salutate tutti li fratelli con santo basiamento.	26 Greet al the brothers with a holy kiss.
27 Scongiurovi per Iesù Cristo, che questa epistola sia letta a tutti li santi fratelli.	27 My orders, in the Lord's name, are that this letter is to be read to al the brothers.
28 La grazia di nostro Signore sia con tutti voi. Amen.	28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.2Th 1:1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God our Father and the LordJesus Christ
