| 1 Ascoltate questa parola, o vacche grasse che state sopra le montagne di Samaria, voi che opprimete i deboli, che schiacciate ì poveri, che dite ai vostri padroni: « Portate e noi berremo ». | 1 "Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are in the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to their husbands, 'Bring, that we may drink!' |
| 2 Il Signore Dio ha giurato per la sua santità: « Ecco vengono sopra di voi dei giorni in cui v'infilzeranno sugli spiedi, e ciò che resterà di voi sarà messo in caldaie bollenti. | 2 The Lord GOD has sworn by his holiness that, behold, the days are coming upon you, when they shall take you away with hooks, even the last of you with fishhooks. |
| 3 E uscirete per le brecce, l'una addosso all'altra, e sarete gettati in Armon — dice il Signore. | 3 And you shall go out through the breaches, every one straight before her; and you shall be cast forth into Harmon," says the LORD. |
| 4 Andate a Betel ad agire empiamente, a Galgala a moltiplicare le prevaricazioni, portate nel mattino le vostre vittime, e le vostre decime nei tre giorni. | 4 "Come to Bethel, and transgress; to Gilgal, and multiply transgression; bring your sacrifices every morning, your tithes every three days; |
| 5 E offrite col lievito dei sacrifizi di lode, annunziate delle oblazioni volontarie, pubblicatele; dacché a voi così piace, o figli d'Israele, — dice il Signore Dio. | 5 offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving of that which is leavened, and proclaim freewill offerings, publish them; for so you love to do, O people of Israel!" says the Lord GOD. |
| 6 Per questo io vi diedi l'allegamento dei denti in tutte le vostre città e la mancanza del pane in tutte le vostre dimore; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore Dio. | 6 "I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places, yet you did not return to me," says the LORD. |
| 7 E allora io impedii alla pioggia di venire a voi, quando mancavano ancora tre mesi alla mietitura, feci piovere sopra una città e sopra un'altra città non feci piovere: una parte era rinfrescata dalla pioggia, e l'altra, non avendo da me la pioggia, era riarsa. | 7 "And I also withheld the rain from you when there were yet three months to the harvest; I would send rain upon one city, and send no rain upon another city; one field would be rained upon, and the field on which it did not rain withered; |
| 8 E due e tre città andarono ad un'altra città per bere l'acqua, e non si dissetarono: eppure voi non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore. | 8 so two or three cities wandered to one city to drink water, and were not satisfied; yet you did not return to me," says the LORD. |
| 9 Vi colpii col vento infocato e colla ruggine; i vostri numerosi giardini, le vostre vigne, i vostri uliveti, i vostri figli li ha divorati l'eruca; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore. | 9 "I smote you with blight and mildew; I laid waste your gardens and your vineyards; your fig trees and your olive trees the locust devoured; yet you did not return to me," says the LORD. |
| 10 Io inviai in mezzo a voi la morte nella maniera dell'Egitto, feci perir sotto la spada la vostra gioventù, fino a far prendere i vostri stessi cavalli; e feci giungere alle vostre narici la putredine dei vostri accimpamenti; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore. | 10 "I sent among you a pestilence after the manner of Egypt; I slew your young men with the sword; I carried away your horses; and I made the stench of your camp go up into your nostrils; yet you did not return to me," says the LORD. |
| 11 Io vi ho distrutti, come Dio distrusse Sodoma e Gomorra, e voi siete diventati come un tizzone sottratto ad un incendio; eppure non siete tornati a me — dice il Signore. | 11 "I overthrew some of you, as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and you were as a brand plucked out of the burning; yet you did not return to me," says the LORD. |
| 12 Per questo io ti farò queste cose, o Israele, e quando te le avrò fatte, preparati ad andare incentro al tuo Dio, o Israele. | 12 "Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!" |
| 13 Infatti Colui che forma le montagne, e crea i venti, e fa sentire agli uomini la sua parola, e produce la nebbia del mattino, e cammina sopra i luoghi piti alti della terra si chi ama il Signore Dio degli eserciti ». | 13 For lo, he who forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares to man what is his thought; who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth--the LORD, the God of hosts, is his name! |
