| 2 e anche di Emat sua confinante e di Tiro e Sidone, perchè ostentano troppa sapienza. | 2 Hamath also, which borders thereon, Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise. |
| 3 E Tiro ha edificato i suoi ripari e ha ammucchiato l'argento come la terra, e l'oro come il fango delle piazze. | 3 Tyre has built herself a rampart, and heaped up silver like dust, and gold like the dirt of the streets. |
| 4 Ecco che il Signore se ne impadronirà e abbatterà la sua marittima potenza, ed essa sarà divorata dal fuoco. | 4 But lo, the Lord will strip her of her possessions and hurl her wealth into the sea, and she shall be devoured by fire. |
| 5 Ascalon vedrà ciò con terrore: e Gaza con gran sbigottimento: e Accaron, perchè la sua speranza è svanita. E Gaza rimarrà senza re e Ascalon non sarà più abitata. | 5 Ashkelon shall see it, and be afraid; Gaza too, and shall writhe in anguish; Ekron also, because its hopes are confounded. The king shall perish from Gaza; Ashkelon shall be uninhabited; |
| 6 E in Azoto abiterà lo straniero e farà perire la superbia dei Filistei. | 6 a mongrel people shall dwell in Ashdod; and I will make an end of the pride of Philistia. |
| 7 E toglierò via dalla bocca del Filisteo il suo sangue, e le abominazioni dai suoi denti; e resterà anch'egli pel nostro Dio, e sarà come un condottiero in Giuda; e Accaron avrà la sorte del Jebuseo. | 7 I will take away its blood from its mouth, and its abominations from between its teeth; it too shall be a remnant for our God; it shall be like a clan in Judah, and Ekron shall be like the Jebusites. |
| 8 E circonderò la mia casa con quelli della mia milizia che andranno e verranno, e non passerà più sopra di loro l'oppressore, perchè ora la guardo cogli occhi miei. | 8 Then I will encamp at my house as a guard, so that none shall march to and fro; no oppressor shall again overrun them, for now I see with my own eyes. |
| 9 Esulta grandemente, o figlio di Sion, giubila, o figlia di Gerusalemme: Ecco che viene a te il tuo Re, giusto e salvatore, egli è povero e cavalca sopra un'asina e su un piccolo asinello. | 9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on an ass, on a colt the foal of an ass. |
| 10 Io disperderò i cocchi da Efraim e i cavalli da Gerusalemme e l'arco di guerra sarà abolito; Egli annunzierà la pace alle genti e il suo dominio sarà da un mare all'altro, e dal fiume fino alle estremità della terra. | 10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall command peace to the nations; his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. |
| 11 Tu anche, mediante il sangue della tua alleanza, hai rimandato liberi i tuoi prigionieri dalla fossa dove non c'è acqua. | 11 As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will set your captives free from the waterless pit. |
| 12 Ritornate alle vostre mura, o prigionieri della speranza, oggi stesso io ti annunzio che ti renderò il doppio. | 12 Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double. |
| 13 Perchè io brandirò Giuda come un arco; impugnerò Efraim e contro i figli tuoi, o Grecia, susciterò i tuoi figli, o Sion, e ti renderò come la spada dei forti. | 13 For I have bent Judah as my bow; I have made Ephraim its arrow. I will brandish your sons, O Zion, over your sons, O Greece, and wield you like a warrior's sword. |
| 14 E sopra di loro si vedrà il Signore Dio, e i suoi dardi scoccheranno come la folgore, e il Signore Dio squillerà la tromba e s'avanzerà fra il turbine che viene da mezzogiorno. | 14 Then the LORD will appear over them, and his arrow go forth like lightning; the Lord GOD will sound the trumpet, and march forth in the whirlwinds of the south. |
| 15 E il Signore degli eserciti li proteggerà; ed essi consumeranno e calpesteranno i sassi della fionda, assaporando l'ebrezza come dal vino, ricolmi come coppe, come i corni dei pingui altari. | 15 The LORD of hosts will protect them, and they shall devour and tread down the slingers; and they shall drink their blood like wine, and be full like a bowl, drenched like the corners of the altar. |
| 16 E il Signore Dio loro li salverà in quel giorno, come gregge del suo popolo; perchè si eleveranno come pietre sante nella sua terra. | 16 On that day the LORD their God will save them for they are the flock of his people; for like the jewels of a crown they shall shine on his land. |
| 17 Quale è il suo bene e quale è il suo bello, se non il frumento degli eletti, il vino che fa germogliare le vergini? | 17 Yea, how good and how fair it shall be! Grain shall make the young men flourish, and new wine the maidens. |
