1 But Jesus continued on to the Mount of Olives.	1 Jesús fue al monte de los Olivos.
2 And early in the morning, he went again to the temple; and all the people came to him. And sitting down, he taught them.	2 Al amanecer volvió al Templo, y todo el pueblo acudía a el. Entonces se sentó y comenzó a enseñarles.
3 Now the scribes and Pharisees brought forward a woman caught in adultery, and they stood her in front of them.	3 Los escribas y los fariseos le trajeron a una mujer que había sido sorprendida en adulterio y, poniéndola en medio de todos,
4 And they said to him: “Teacher, this woman was just now caught in adultery.	4 dijeron a Jesús: «Maestro, esta mujer ha sido sorprendida en flagrante adulterio.
5 And in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such a one. Therefore, what do you say?”	5 Moisés, en la Ley, nos ordenó apedrear a esta clase de mujeres. Y tú, ¿qué dices?».
6 But they were saying this to test him, so that they might be able to accuse him. Then Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the earth.	6 Decían esto para ponerlo a prueba, a fin de poder acusarlo. Pero Jesús, inclinándose, comenzó a escribir en el suelo con el dedo.
7 And then, when they persevered in questioning him, he stood upright and said to them, “Let whoever is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her.”	7 Como insistían, se enderezó y les dijo: «El que no tenga pecado, que arroje la primera piedra».
8 And bending down again, he wrote on the earth.	8 E inclinándose nuevamente, siguió escribiendo en el suelo.
9 But upon hearing this, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, with the woman standing in front of him.	9 Al oír estas palabras, todos se retiraron, uno tras otro, comenzando por los más ancianos. Jesús quedó solo con la mujer, que permanecía allí,
10 Then Jesus, raising himself up, said to her: “Woman, where are those who accused you? Has no one condemned you?”	10 e incorporándose, le preguntó: «Mujer, ¿dónde están tus acusadores? ¿Alguien te ha condenado?».
11 And she said, “No one, Lord.” Then Jesus said: “Neither will I condemn you. Go, and now do not choose to sin anymore.”	11 Ella le respondió: «Nadie, Señor». «Yo tampoco te condeno, le dijo Jesús. Vete, no peques más en adelante».
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me does not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”	12 Jesús les dirigió una vez más la palabra, diciendo: «Yo soy la luz del mundo. El que me sigue no andará en tinieblas, sino que tendrá la luz de la Vida».
13 And so the Pharisees said to him, “You offer testimony about yourself; your testimony is not true.”	13 Los fariseos le dijeron: «Tú das testimonio de ti mismo: tu testimonio no vale».
14 Jesus responded and said to them: “Even though I offer testimony about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going.	14 Jesús les respondió: «Aunque yo doy testimonio de mí, mi testimonio vale porque sé de dónde vine y a dónde voy; pero ustedes no saben de dónde vengo ni a dónde voy.
15 You judge according to the flesh. I do not judge anyone.	15 Ustedes juzgan según la carne; yo no juzgo a nadie,
16 And when I do judge, my judgment is true. For I am not alone, but it is I and he who sent me: the Father.	16 y si lo hago, mi juicio vale porque no soy yo solo el que juzga, sino yo y el Padre que me envió.
17 And it is written in your law that the testimony of two men is true.	17 En la Ley de ustedes está escrito que el testimonio de dos personas es válido.
18 I am one who offers testimony about myself, and the Father who sent me offers testimony about me.”	18 Yo doy testimonio de mí mismo, y también el Padre que me envió da testimonio de mí».
19 Therefore, they said to him, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered: “You know neither me, nor my Father. If you did know me, perhaps you would know my Father also.”	19 Ellos le preguntaron: «¿Dónde está tu Padre?». Jesús respondió: «Ustedes no me conocen ni a mí ni a mi Padre; si me conocieran a mí, conocerían también a mi Padre».
20 Jesus spoke these words at the treasury, while teaching in the temple. And no one apprehended him, because his hour had not yet come.	20 El pronunció estas palabras en la sala del Tesoro, cuando enseñaba en el Templo. Y nadie lo detuvo, porque aún no había llegado su hora.
21 Therefore, Jesus again spoke to them: “I am going, and you shall seek me. And you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you are not able to go.”	21 Jesús les dijo también: «Yo me voy, y ustedes me buscarán y morirán en su pecado. Adonde yo voy, ustedes no pueden ir».
22 And so the Jews said, “Is he going to kill himself, for he said: ‘Where I am going, you are not able to go?’ ”	22 Los judíos se preguntaban: «¿Pensará matarse para decir: «Adonde yo voy, ustedes no pueden ir»?
23 And he said to them: “You are from below. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.	23 Jesús continuó: «Ustedes son de aquí abajo, yo soy de lo alto. Ustedes son de este mundo, yo no soy de este mundo.
24 Therefore, I said to you, that you will die in your sins. For if you will not believe that I am, you will die in your sin.”	24 Por eso les he dicho: "Ustedes morirán en sus pecados". Porque si no creen que Yo Soy, morirán en sus pecados».
25 And so they said to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them: “The Beginning, who is also speaking to you.	25 Los judíos le preguntaron: «¿Quién eres tú?». Jesús les respondió: «Esto es precisamente lo que les estoy diciendo desde el comienzo.
26 I have much to say about you and to judge. But he who sent me is true. And what I have heard from him, this I speak within the world.”	26 De ustedes, tengo mucho que decir, mucho que juzgar. Pero aquel que me envió es veraz, y lo que aprendí de él es lo que digo al mundo».
27 And they did not realize that he was calling God his Father.	27 Ellos no comprendieron que Jesús se refería al Padre.
28 And so Jesus said to them: “When you will have lifted up the Son of man, then you shall realize that I am, and that I do nothing of myself, but just as the Father has taught me, so do I speak.	28 Después les dijo: «Cuando ustedes hayan levantado en alto al Hijo del hombre, entonces sabrán que Yo Soy y que no hago nada por mí mismo, sino que digo lo que el Padre me enseñó.
29 And he who sent me is with me, and he has not abandoned me alone. For I always do what is pleasing to him.”	29 El que me envió está conmigo y no me ha dejado solo, porque yo hago siempre lo que le agrada».
30 As he was speaking these things, many believed in him.	30 Mientras hablaba así, muchos creyeron en él.
31 Therefore, Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him: “If you will abide in my word, you will truly be my disciples.	31 Jesús dijo a aquellos judíos que habían creído en él: «Si ustedes permanecen fieles a mi palabra, serán verdaderamente mis discípulos:
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”	32 conocerán la verdad y la verdad los hará libres».
33 They answered him: “We are the offspring of Abraham, and we have never been a slave to anyone. How can you say, ‘You shall be set free?’ ”	33 Ellos le respondieron: «Somos descendientes de Abraham y jamás hemos sido esclavos de nadie. ¿Cómo puedes decir entonces: "Ustedes serán libres"»?.
34 Jesus answered them: “Amen, amen, I say to you, that everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.	34 Jesús les respondió: «Les aseguro que todo el que peca es esclavo del pecado.
35 Now the slave does not abide in the house for eternity. Yet the Son does abide in eternity.	35 El esclavo no permanece para siempre en la casa; el hijo, en cambio, permanece para siempre.
36 Therefore, if the Son has set you free, then you will truly be free.	36 Por eso, si el Hijo los libera, ustedes serán realmente libres.
37 I know that you are sons of Abraham. But you are seeking to kill me, because my word has not taken hold in you.	37 Yo sé que ustedes son descendientes de Abraham, pero tratan de matarme porque mi palabra no penetra en ustedes.
38 I speak what I have seen with my Father. And you do what you have seen with your father.”	38 Yo digo lo que he visto junto a mi Padre, y ustedes hacen lo que han aprendido de su padre».
39 They responded and said to him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them: “If you are the sons of Abraham, then do the works of Abraham.	39 Ellos le replicaron: «Nuestro padre es Abraham». Y Jesús les dijo: «Si ustedes fueran hijos de Abraham obrarían como él.
40 But now you are seeking to kill me, a man who has spoken the truth to you, which I have heard from God. This is not what Abraham did.	40 Pero ahora quieren matarme a mí, al hombre que les dice la verdad que ha oído de Dios. Abraham no hizo eso.
41 You do the works of your father.” Therefore, they said to him: “We were not born out of fornication. We have one father: God.”	41 Pero ustedes obran como su padre». Ellos le dijeron: «Nosotros no hemos nacido de la prostitución; tenemos un solo Padre, que es Dios». Jesús prosiguió:
42 Then Jesus said to them: “If God were your father, certainly you would love me. For I proceeded and came from God. For I did not come from myself, but he sent me.	42 «Si Dios fuera su Padre, ustedes me amarían, porque yo he salido de Dios y vengo de él. No he venido por mí mismo, sino que él me envió.
43 Why do you not recognize my speech? It is because you are not able to hear my word.	43 ¿Por qué ustedes no comprenden mi lenguaje? Es porque no pueden escuchar mi palabra.
44 You are of your father, the devil. And you will carry out the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning. And he did not stand in the truth, because the truth is not in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks it from his own self. For he is a liar, and the father of lies.	44 Ustedes tienen por padre al demonio y quieren cumplir los deseos de su padre. Desde el comienzo él fue homicida y no tiene nada que ver con la verdad, porque no hay verdad en él. Cuando miente, habla conforme a lo que es, porque es mentiroso y padre de la mentira.
45 But if I speak the truth, you do not believe me.	45 Pero a mí no me creen, porque les digo la verdad.
46 Which of you can convict me of sin? If I speak the truth to you, why do you not believe me?	46 ¿Quién de ustedes probará que tengo pecado? Y si les digo la verdad. ¿por qué no me creen?
47 Whoever is of God, hears the words of God. For this reason, you do not hear them: because you are not of God.”	47 El que es de Dios escucha las palabras de Dios; si ustedes no las escuchan, es porque no son de Dios».
48 Therefore, the Jews responded and said to him, “Are we not correct in saying that you are a Samaritan, and that you have a demon?”	48 Los judíos le replicaron: «¿No tenemos razón al decir que eres un samaritano y que estás endemoniado?». Jesús respondió:
49 Jesus responded: “I do not have a demon. But I honor my Father, and you have dishonored me.	49 «Yo no estoy endemoniado, sino que honro a mi Padre, y ustedes me deshonran a mí.
50 But I am not seeking my own glory. There is One who seeks and judges.	50 Yo no busco mi gloria; hay alguien que la busca, y es él el que juzga.
51 Amen, amen, I say to you, if anyone will have kept my word, he will not see death for eternity.”	51 Les aseguro que el que es fiel a mi palabra, no morirá jamás».
52 Therefore, the Jews said: “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham is dead, and the Prophets; and yet you say, ‘If anyone will have kept my word, he shall not taste death for eternity.’	52 Los judíos le dijeron: «Ahora sí estamos seguros de que estás endemoniado. Abraham murió, los profetas también, y tú dices: «El que es fiel a mi palabra, no morirá jamás».
53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. So who do you make yourself to be?”	53 ¿Acaso eres más grande que nuestro padre Abraham, el cual murió? Los profetas también murieron. ¿Quién pretendes ser tú?»
54 Jesus responded: “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me. And you say about him that he is your God.	54 Jesús respondió: «Si yo me glorificara a mí mismo, mi gloria no valdría nada. Es mi Padre el que me glorifica, el mismo al que ustedes llaman «nuestro Dios»,
55 And yet you have not known him. But I know him. And if I were to say that I do not know him, then I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and I keep his word.	55 y al que, sin embargo, no conocen. Yo lo conozco y si dijera: «No lo conozco», sería, como ustedes, un mentiroso. Pero yo lo conozco y soy fiel a su palabra.
56 Abraham, your father, rejoiced that he might see my day; he saw it and was glad.”	56 Abraham, el padre de ustedes, se estremeció de gozo, esperando ver mi Día: lo vio y se llenó de alegría».
57 And so the Jews said to him, “You have not yet reached fifty years, and you have seen Abraham?”	57 Los judíos le dijeron: «Todavía no tienes cincuenta años ¿y has visto a Abraham».
58 Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.”	58 Jesús respondió: «Les aseguro que desde antes que naciera Abraham, Yo Soy».
59 Therefore, they took up stones to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and he departed from the temple.	59 Entonces tomaron piedras para apedrearlo, pero Jesús se escondió y salió del Templo.
