Magistro chori. Maskil. Filiorum Core. | 1 [For the choirmaster Poem Of the sons of Korah] As a deer yearns for running streams, so I yearn foryou, my God. |
Quemadmodum desiderat cervus ad fontes aquarum, ita desiderat anima mea ad te, Deus. | 2 I thirst for God, the living God; when shal I go to see the face of God? |
Sitivit anima mea ad Deum, Deum vivum; quando veniam et apparebo ante faciem Dei? | 3 I have no food but tears day and night, as al day long I am taunted, 'Where is your God?' |
Fuerunt mihi lacrimae meae panis die ac nocte, dum dicitur mihi cotidie: “ Ubi est Deus tuus? ”. | 4 This I remember as I pour out my heart, how I used to pass under the roof of the Most High used to goto the house of God, among cries of joy and praise, the sound of the feast. |
Haec recordatus sum et effudi in me animam meam; quoniam transibam in locum tabernaculi admirabilis usque ad domum Dei in voce exsultationis et confessionis multitudinis festa celebrantis. | 5 Why be so downcast, why all these sighs? Hope in God! I will praise him stil , my Saviour, |
Quare tristis es, anima mea, et quare conturbaris in me? Spera in Deo, quoniam adhuc confitebor illi, salutare vultus mei et Deus meus. | 6 my God. When I am downcast I think of you: from the land of Jordan and Hermon, I think of you, humble mountain. |
In meipso anima mea contristata est; propterea memor ero tui de terra Iordanis et Hermonim, de monte Misar. | 7 Deep is cal ing to deep by the roar of your cataracts, al your waves and breakers have rolled over me. |
Abyssus abyssum invocat in voce cataractarum tuarum; omnes gurgites tui et fluctus tui super me transierunt. | 8 In the daytime God sends his faithful love, and even at night; the song it inspires in me is a prayer tomy living God. |
In die mandavit Dominus misericordiam suam, et nocte canticum eius apud me est: oratio ad Deum vitae meae. | 9 I shal say to God, my rock, 'Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go around in mourning, harrassed by the enemy?' |
Dicam Deo: “ Susceptor meus es. Quare oblitus es mei, et quare contristatus incedo, dum affligit me inimicus? ”. | 10 With death in my bones, my enemies taunt me, al day long they ask me, 'Where is your God?' |
Dum confringuntur ossa mea, exprobraverunt mihi, qui tribulant me, dum dicunt mihi quotidie: “ Ubi est Deus tuus? ”. - | 11 Why so downcast, why al these sighs? Hope in God! I wil praise him stil , my Saviour, my God. |
Quare tristis es, anima mea, et quare conturbaris in me? Spera in Deo, quoniam adhuc confitebor illi, salutare vultus mei et Deus meus. |
