2 Thessalonians 3

1 Final y, brothers, pray for us that the Lord's message may spread quickly, and be received with honouras it was among you;	1 Au reste, mes frères, priez pour nous, afin que la parole de Dieu ait un libre cours et soit glorifiée, comme elle l'est chez vous,
2 and pray that we may be preserved from bigoted and evil people, for not everyone has faith.	2 et afin que nous soyons délivrés des hommes importuns et méchants; car tous n'ont pas la foi.
3 You can rely on the Lord, who wil give you strength and guard you from the evil One,	3 Mais Dieu est fidèle, et Il vous affermira, et vous préservera du mal.
4 and we, in the Lord, have every confidence in you, that you are doing and wil go on doing al that wetel you.	4 Nous avons à votre égard cette confiance dans le Seigneur, que vous faites et que vous ferez ce que nous vous prescrivons.
5 May the Lord turn your hearts towards the love of God and the perseverance of Christ.	5 Que le Seigneur dirige vos coeurs dans l'amour de Dieu et dans la patience du Christ.
6 In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we urge you, brothers, to keep away from any of the brothers wholives an undisciplined life, not in accordance with the tradition you received from us.	6 Nous vous ordonnons, frères, au nom de Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ, de vous éloigner de tout frère qui vit d'une manière déréglée, et non selon l'instruction qu'on a reçue de nous.
7 You know how you should take us as your model: we were not undisciplined when we were with you,	7 Car vous savez vous-mêmes comment il faut nous imiter, puisque nous n'avons pas mené parmi vous une conduite irrégulière;
8 nor did we ever accept food from anyone without paying for it; no, we worked with unsparing energy,night and day, so as not to be a burden on any of you.	8 et nous n'avons mangé gratuitement le pain de personne, mais nous avons travaillé nuit et jour avec peine et avec fatigue, pour n'être à charge à aucun de vous.
9 This was not because we had no right to be, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to imitate.	9 Ce n'est pas que nous n'en eussions le droit; mais nous avons voulu vous donner en nous-mêmes un modèle à imiter.
10 We urged you when we were with you not to let anyone eat who refused to work.	10 Car lorsque nous étions chez vous, nous vous déclarions que si quelqu'un ne veut pas travailler, il ne doit pas non plus manger.
11 Now we hear that there are some of you who are living lives without any discipline, doing no workthemselves but interfering with other people's.	11 Nous apprenons cependant que quelques-uns parmi vous se conduisent d'une manière déréglée, ne travaillant pas, mais s'occupant de choses vaines.
12 In the Lord Jesus Christ, we urge and cal on people of this kind to go on quietly working and earningthe food that they eat.	12 Or nous ordonnons à ces personnes-là, et nous les conjurons par le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, de manger un pain qui soit le leur, en travaillant paisiblement.
13 My brothers, never slacken in doing what is right.	13 Pour vous, frères, ne vous lassez point de faire le bien.
14 If anyone refuses to obey what I have written in this letter, take note of him and have nothing to dowith him, so that he wil be ashamed of himself,	14 Et si quelqu'un n'obéit pas à ce que nous ordonnons par cette lettre, notez-le, et n'ayez point de commerce avec lui, afin qu'il en ait de la confusion.
15 though you are not to treat him as an enemy, but to correct him as a brother.	15 Ne le regardez cependant pas comme un ennemi, mais reprenez-le comme un frère.
16 May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at al times and in every way. The Lord be with you all.	16 Que le Seigneur de la paix vous donne Lui-même la paix en tout temps et en tout lieu. Que le Seigneur soit avec vous tous.
17 This greeting is in my own hand-PAUL. It is the mark of genuineness in every letter; this is my own writing.	17 Je vous salue, moi Paul, de ma propre main. C'est là mon signe dans toutes mes lettres; j'écris ainsi.
