NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 It was the High Priest Simon son of Onias who repaired the Temple during his lifetime and in his day fortified the sanctuary.	1 Simão filho de Onias sumo sacerdote, em sua vida reparou a casa (do Senhor), e em seus dias fortificou o templo.
2 He laid the foundations of double depth, the high buttresses of the Temple precincts.	2 Foi ele que fundou a alta construção do templo, o edifício duplo e as elevadas muralhas do mesmo templo.
3 In his day the pool was excavated, a reservoir as huge as the sea.	3 Em seus dias correram os mananciais das águas dos reservatórios, que se encheram extraordinariamente, como o mar (de bronze).
4 Anxious to save the people from ruin, he fortified the city against siege.	4 Teve cuidado do seu povo, livrou-o da perdição. Conseguiu engrandecer a cidade; nas suas relações com o povo alcançou glória, e alargou a entrada do templo e do átrio.
5 How splendid he was with the people thronging round him, when he emerged from the curtained shrine,
6 like the morning star among the clouds, like the moon at the ful ,	6 Como a estrela da manhã, no meio da névoa, como a Lua resplandecente no plenilúnio, e como um Sol brilhante, assim luziu no templo de Deus.
7 like the sun shining on the Temple of the Most High, like the rainbow gleaming against bril iant clouds,
8 like a rose in springtime, like a lily by a spring, like a branch of the incense tree in summer,	8 (Ele era) como o arco-íris que reluz entre as nuvens iluminadas, como a flor das roseiras nos dias da primavera, como os lírios que estão junto da corrente de água, como o incenso que exala fragrância em dias de verão,
9 like fire and incense in the censer, like a massive golden vessel encrusted with every kind of preciousstone,	9 como a chama refulgente, e o incenso que arde no fogo:
10 like an olive tree loaded with fruit, like a cypress soaring to the clouds;	10 como um vaso de ouro maciço, ornado de toda a casta de pedras preciosas.
11 when he took his ceremonial robe and put on his magnificent ornaments, when he went up to the holyaltar and fil ed the sanctuary precincts with his grandeur;	11 como a oliveira que brota e como o cipreste que se eleva ao alto, quando tomava a sua vestidura de glória, e quando se revestia de todos os ornamentos da sua dignidade.
12 when he received the portions from the hands of the priests, himself standing by the altar hearth,crowned with the circle of his brothers, as a cedar of Lebanon is by its foliage, as though surrounded by thetrunks of palm trees.	12 Quando subia ao altar santo, honrava as vestiduras sagradas.
13 When all the sons of Aaron in their glory, with the offerings of the Lord in their hands, stood before thewhole assembly of Israel,	13 Recebia as porções (das vítimas) da mão dos sacerdotes, conservando-se de pé junto do altar, e, em volta, os seus irmãos formavam uma coroa, como uma plantação de cedros do Líbano.
14 while he completed the rites at the altars, nobly presenting the offerings to the Almighty, Most High!	14 Estavam em torno dele, como os ramos duma palmeira, todos os filhos de Aarão na sua glória,
15 He would reach out his hand to the cup and pour a libation of wine, pouring it at the foot of the altar, afragrance pleasing to the Most High, King of All;	15 A oblação destinada ao Senhor estava nas mãos deles, na presença de toda a assembleia de Israel. Para consumar o sacrifício sobre o altar, para tornar mais solene a oblação ao Rei excelso.
16 then the sons of Aaron would shout and blow their metal trumpets, making a mighty sound ring out asa reminder before the Most High;	16 estendia a sua mão para fazer a libação, e derramava o sangue da uva.
17 and immediately the people al together would fal on their faces to the ground, in adoration of theirLord, the Almighty, God Most High,	17 Derramava-o ao pé do altar, como um perfume divino ao Príncipe excelso.
18 and with the cantors chanting their hymns of praise. Sweet was the melody of al these voices,	18 Então os filhos de Aarão levantavam ás suas vozes, tocavam as suas trombetas de metal batido e faziam ressoar um grande concerto para renovarem diante do Senhor a memória (da sua aliança).
19 as the people pleaded with the Lord Most High and prayed in the presence of the Merciful, until theservice of the Lord was completed and the ceremony at an end.	19 Todo o povo se apressava e prostrava-se com o rosto por terra, para adorar o Senhor seu Deus e fazer orações ao Deus omnipotente e excelso.
20 Then he would come down and raise his hands over the whole assembly of the Israelites, to give themthe Lord's blessing from his lips, being privileged to pronounce his name;	20 Os cantores levantavam as suas vozes, e naquela grande casa retinia um som cheio de suavidade.
21 and once again the people would bow low to receive the blessing of the Most High.	21 O povo fazia as suas preces ao Senhor excelso, até ficar de todo completo o culto do Senhor, até terminarem as funções sagradas.
22 And now bless the God of al things, the doer of great deeds everywhere, who has exalted our daysfrom the womb and has acted merciful y towards us.	22 Então (o sumo sacerdote), descendo (do altar), levantava as suas mãos sobre todo o congresso dos filhos de Israel, para dar glória a Deus com seus lábios, e para se glorificar no seu nome.
23 May he grant us cheerful hearts and bring peace in our time, in Israel for ages on ages.	23 (Então o povo) repetia a sua oração, querendo manifestar o poder de Deus.
24 May his mercy be faithfully with us, may he redeem us in our own times!	24 E agora rogai ao Deus de todas as criaturas, que fez grandes coisas em toda a terra, que aumentou os nossos dias desde o ventre materno, e que nos tratou sempre segundo a sua misericórdia.
25 There are two nations that my soul detests, the third is not a nation at al :	25 Conceda-nos ele a alegria do coração, e reine a paz em Israel em nossos dias e para sempre,
26 the inhabitants of Mount Seir, the Philistines, and the stupid people living at Shechem.	26 a fim de que Israel creia que está connosco a misericórdia de Deus, e para que ele nos livre no seu dia.
27 Instruction in wisdom and knowledge is what has been written in this book by Jesus son of SiraEleazar of Jerusalem, who has poured a rain of wisdom from his heart.	27 Dois povos aborrece a minha alma, e o terceiro, que eu aborreço nem sequer é um povo:
28 Blessed is he who devotes his time to these and grows wise by taking them to heart!	28 Os que habitam no monte Seir, os Filisteus, e a gente insensata que habita em Siquém.
29 If he practises them he will be strong enough for anything, since the light of the Lord is his path.	29 Estas são as instruções de sabedoria e de disciplina, que deixou escritas neste livro Jesus, filho de Sirach, natural de Jerusalém, o qual derramou a sabedoria do seu coração.
