Deuteronomy 19

1 When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;	1 Quando o Senhor teu Deus tiver exterminado de os povos, cuja terra te há-de dar, quando a possuíres, e habitardes nas suas cidades e casas,
2 Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.	2 separarás para ti três cidades no meio do país cuja posse o Senhor teu Deus te há-de dar.
3 Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.	3 Aplanarás com cuidado o caminho e dividirás em três porções iguais todo o território que o Senhor te der, por herança, para que o que está fugitivo por homicídio, tenha um lugar vizinho a que se acolha.
4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;	4 Eis o caso do homicida fugitivo, cuja vida se deve conservar; será quando ferir o seu próximo sem querer, sem antes ter sido seu inimigo, nem ontem nem ante-ontem.
5 As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:	5 Assim, se um foi com outro cortar lenha a uma mata, e se, ao tempo que cortava a lenha, lhe escapou o machado da mão, e saindo o ferto fora do cato, feriu o seu amigo, e o matou, ele se acolherá a uma das sobreditas cidades, e viverá.
6 Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past.	6 Doutro modo poderia suceder que algum parente daquele, cujo sangue foi derramado, estimulado da sua dor, o seguisse e o prendesse, se o caminho fosse muito longo, e matasse um homem, que não merece a morte, visto não se provar que antes tivesse tido inimizade com o que foi morto.
7 Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.	7 Portanto mando-te que ponhas à parte três cidades.
8 And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;	8 Quando o Senhor teu Deus tiver alargado os teus limites, como jurou a teus pais, e te tiver dado toda a terra que lhes prometeu dar-te
9 If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:	9 (Se guardares os seus mandamentos, se fizeres o que ou hoje te prescrevo, amando o Senhor teu Deus e andando sempre pelos seus caminhos) juntarás a essas três cidades outras três,
10 That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.	10 para que se não derrame o sangue inocente no meio da terra que o Senhor teu Deus te der por herança, e não caia sangue sobre ti.
11 But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities:	11 Se alguém, tendo ódio ao seu próximo, armar ciladas à sua vida e, levantando-se, o ferir e matar, e se refugiar em uma das sobreditas cidades,
12 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.	12 os anciães da sua cidade mandarão tirá-lo do lugar do refúgio, e o entregarão nas mãos do vingador do sangue, para ser morto.
13 Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.	13 Não terás compaixão dele, e tirarás de Israel o reato do sangue inocente, para que te suceda bem.
14 Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour's landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.	14 Não moverás, nem transportarás os marcos do teu próximo, que teus predecessores fixaram na herança que o Senhor teu Deus te der, no país que ele te entregar.
15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.	15 Não valerá contra alguém uma só testemunha, qualquer que for o delito ou o crime; tudo será verificado sobre o depoimento de duas ou três testemunhas.
16 If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong;	16 Se se apresentar uma testemunha falsa contra um homem, acusando-o de prevaricação,
17 Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;	17 ambos os contendores comparecerão diante do Senhor na presença dos sacerdotes e juízes que estiverem em exercício naqueles dias.
18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother;	18 Quando estes, depois dum diligentíssimo exame, conhecerem que a testemunha disse uma mentira contra o seu irmão,
19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.	19 far-lhe-ão o que ele tinha intenção de fazer ao seu irmão, e tirarás o mal do meio de ti,
20 And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.	20 para que os outros, ouvindo isto, tenham medo, e, de nenhum modo, se atrevam a fazer tais coisas.
21 And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.	21 Não terás compaixão dele, mas exigirás vida por vida, olho por olho, dente por dente, mão por mão, pé por pé.
