1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	1 La parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes :
2 Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel,	2 Fils de (d'un) l'homme, tourne ton visage contre Jérusalem, parle au sanctuaire, et prophétise contre la terre d'Israël.
3 And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of his sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.	3 Tu diras à la terre d'Israël : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu : Voici que je viens à toi ; je tirerai mon épée de son fourreau, et je tuerai en toi le juste et l'impie.
4 Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of his sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:	4 Et parce que je dois exterminer en toi le juste et l'impie, mon épée sortira de son fourreau contre toute chair, depuis le midi jusqu'au septentrion,
5 That all flesh may know that I the LORD have drawn forth my sword out of his sheath: it shall not return any more.	5 afin que toute chair sache que moi, le Seigneur, j'ai tiré mon épée de son fourreau et qu'elle n'y rentrera plus (j'ai tiré de son fourreau mon irrévocable glaive).
6 Sigh therefore, thou son of man, with the breaking of thy loins; and with bitterness sigh before their eyes.	6 Et toi, fils de (d'un) l'homme, gémis, les reins brisés (jusqu'au brisement de tes reins), et gémis en leur présence avec amertume.
7 And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.	7 Et lorsqu'ils te diront : Pourquoi gémis-tu ? tu diras : A cause de ce que j'entends ; car l'ennemi vient, et tous les cœurs sécheront, toutes les mains seront sans force, tous les esprits seront abattus, et l'eau coulera le long de tous les genoux. Le voici, il (Voici que cela) vient, et cela arrivera (s'accomplira), dit le Seigneur Dieu.
8 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	8 La parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes :
9 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD; Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished:	9 Fils de (d'un) l'homme, prophétise, et dis : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu : Parle (Dis). L'épée, l'épée est aiguisée, elle est polie.
10 It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter: should we then make mirth? it contemneth the rod of my son, as every tree.	10 C'est pour tuer les (des) victimes qu'elle est aiguisée, c'est pour étinceler qu'elle est polie ; toi qui ébranles le sceptre de mon fils, tu as coupé tous les arbres.
11 And he hath give it to be furbished, that it may be handled: this sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.	11 Je l'ai donnée à polir pour qu'on la tienne à la main ; cette épée est aiguisée, elle est polie, afin qu'elle soit dans la main de celui qui tue.
12 Cry and howl, son of man: for it shall be upon my people, it shall be upon all the princes of Israel: terrors by reason of the sword shall be upon my people: smite therefore upon thy thigh.	12 Crie et pousse des hurlements, fils de (d'un) l'homme, car elle est tirée contre mon peuple, contre tous les princes (chefs) d'Israël qui fuient ; ils sont livrés à l'épée avec mon peuple. Frappe donc sur ta cuisse,
13 Because it is a trial, and what if the sword contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, saith the Lord GOD.	13 car je l'ai approuvée (éprouvé), lors même qu'elle brisera le sceptre, et que celui-ci ne subsistera plus, dit le Seigneur Dieu.
14 Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine hands together, and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which entereth into their privy chambers.	14 Toi donc, fils de (d'un) l'homme, prophétise, et frappe tes mains l'une contre l'autre ; et que l'épée soit doublée, et que l'épée meurtrière soit triplée. C'est là l'épée du grand carnage, qui les fait s'épouvanter,
15 I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that their heart may faint, and their ruins be multiplied: ah! it is made bright, it is wrapped up for the slaughter.	15 qui fait sécher les cœurs, et qui multiplie les ruines. A toutes leurs portes je placerai (j'ai été) la terreur de cette épée perçante, polie pour étinceler et affilée pour tuer.
16 Go thee one way or other, either on the right hand, or on the left, whithersoever thy face is set.	16 Aiguise-toi, va à droite ou à gauche, partout où tes désirs t'appellent.
17 I will also smite mine hands together, and I will cause my fury to rest: I the LORD have said it.	17 Moi aussi j'applaudirai en frappant des mains, et j'assouvirai (par toi) ma colère (mon indignation). C'est moi, le Seigneur, qui ai parlé.
18 The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,	18 La parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes :
19 Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both twain shall come forth out of one land: and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city.	19 Toi, fils de (d'un) l'homme, trace-toi deux chemins, pour que l'épée du roi de Babylone y passe ; ils sortiront tous deux d'un même pays ; sa main tirera au sort ; il le tirera à l'entrée du chemin de la ville.
20 Appoint a way, that the sword may come to Rabbath of the Ammonites, and to Judah in Jerusalem the defenced.	20 Tu traceras un chemin par où l'épée viendra à Rabbath des enfants d'Ammon, et dans Juda, à Jérusalem, la ville très forte (fortifiée).
21 For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he made his arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver.	21 Car le roi de Babylone s'est arrêté dans un carrefour, à la tête de deux chemins, cherchant un présage (augure) ; il a mêlé des flèches, il a interrogé les idoles, il a consulté les entrailles.
22 At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering rams against the gates, to cast a mount, and to build a fort.	22 A sa droite, le sort est tombé sur Jérusalem, où il dressera des béliers, commandera le carnage, poussera des cris de guerre, dressera des béliers contre les portes, élèvera des retranchements et bâtira des fort(ification)s.
23 And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.	23 A leurs yeux, il paraîtra avoir consulté en vain les oracles, et imité le repos du sabbat ; mais lui, il se souvient de l'iniquité, et il les prendra (Jérusalem).
24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.	24 C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu : Parce que vous avez rappelé le souvenir de votre iniquité et révélé vos prévarications, et que vos péchés ont paru dans toutes vos pensées ; parce que, dis-je, vous en avez rappelé le souvenir, vous serez pris par sa main.
25 And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,	25 Mais toi, profane, chef impie d'Israël, toi dont vient le jour marqué pour la punition de ton iniquité,
26 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.	26 ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu : Ote(z) la tiare, enlevez (enlève) la couronne ; n'est-ce pas elle qui a élevé l'humble et humilié le grand ?
27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.	27 J'en ferai voir l'iniquité, l'iniquité, l'iniquité ; [mais cela n'arrivera que lorsque sera venu celui à qui appartient le jugement], et je le lui livrerai.
28 And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering:	28 Et toi, fils de (d'un) l'homme, prophétise, et dis : Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu aux enfants d'Ammon, touchant (et pour) leur opprobre ; tu leur diras : Epée, épée, sors du fourreau pour tuer ; sois polie, pour massacrer et pour briller.
29 Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end.	29 Pendant qu'on voit pour toi des visions vaines et qu'on te prédit des mensonges, tu tomberas (afin que tu tombes) sur le cou des impies blessés, dont vient le jour marqué (d'avance) pour la punition de leur iniquité.
30 Shall I cause it to return into his sheath? I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity.	30 Rentre dans ton fourreau, au lieu où tu as été créée ; je te jugerai dans le pays de ta naissance. (!)
31 And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skilful to destroy.	31 Je répandrai sur toi mon indignation, je soufflerai sur toi avec le feu de ma fureur, et je te livrerai aux mains d'hommes insensés, qui travaillent (ont machiné) pour la mort.
32 Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.	32 Tu seras la pâture du feu, ton sang coulera au milieu du pays, et tu seras livré à l'oubli ; car c'est moi, le Seigneur, qui ai parlé.
