Hosea 12

1 Ephraim feedeth on the wind, and followeth the burning heat: all the day long he multiplied lies and desolation: and he hath made a covenant with the Assyrians, and carried oil into Egypt.	1 Ephraïm se repaît de vent, il suit la chaleur brûlante; tout le jour il multiplie le mensonge et la violence; il a fait alliance avec les Assyriens, et il a porté de l'huile en Egypte.
2 Therefore there is a judgment of the Lord with Juda, and a visitation for Jacob: he will render to him according to his ways, and according to his devices.	2 Le Seigneur est donc en jugement avec Juda, et Il va visiter Jacob: Il lui rendra selon ses voies et selon ses desseins.
3 In the womb he supplanted his brother: and by his strength he had success with an angel.	3 Dans le sein maternel il supplanta son frère, et dans sa force il lutta avec l'Ange.
4 And he prevailed over the angel, and was strengthened: he wept, and made supplication to him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us.	4 Et il prévalut contre l'Ange, et il fut vainqueur; il pleura et Le supplia. Il Le trouva à Béthel, et c'est là que le Seigneur nous parla.
5 Even the Lord the God of hosts, the Lord is his memorial.	5 Le Seigneur est le Dieu des armées, le Seigneur est l'objet de son souvenir.
6 Therefore turn thou to thy God : keep mercy and judgment, and hope in thy God always.	6 Convertis-toi donc à ton Dieu; garde la miséricorde et la justice, et espère toujours en ton Dieu.
7 He is like Chanaan, there is a deceitful balance in his hand, he hath loved oppression.	7 Chanaan a dans sa main une balance trompeuse, il aime l'injustice.
8 And Ephraim said: But yet I am become rich, I have found me an idol: all my labours shall not find me the iniquity that I have committed.	8 Ephraïm dit: En vérité, Je suis devenu riche; J'ai trouvé une idole pour moi; mais dans tous mes travaux on ne trouvera aucune iniquité que J'aie commise.
9 And I that am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, will yet cause thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the feast.	9 Et Moi Je suis le Seigneur ton Dieu depuis le pays d'Egypte; Je te ferai encore habiter dans des tentes, comme aux jours de la fête.
10 And I have spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and I have used similitudes by the ministry of the prophets.	10 J'ai parlé aux prophètes, J'ai multiplié les visions, et les prophètes m'ont représenté à vous sous diverses images.
11 If Galaad be an idol, then in vain were they in Galgal offering sacrifices with bullocks: for their altars also are as heaps in the furrows of the field.	11 Si Galaad est une idole, c'est bien en vain qu'on immole aux boeufs de Galgal, car leurs autels sont comme des monceaux de pierre sur les sillons des champs.
12 Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and was a keeper for a wife.	12 Jacob a fui au pays de Syrie, Israël a servi pour une femme et a gardé les troupeaux pour une femme.
13 But the Lord by a prophet brought Israel out of Egypt: and he was preserved by a prophet.	13 Par un prophète le Seigneur a tiré Israël de l'Egypte, et par un prophète il fut gardé.
14 Ephraim hath provoked me to wrath with his bitterness, and his blood shall come upon him, and his Lord will render his reproach unto him.	14 Ephraïm M'a provoqué à la colère par ses crimes; le sang qu'il a versé retombera sur lui, et son Seigneur lui rendra son ignominie.
