Proverbios 8

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 ¿No está llamando la Sabiduría? y la Prudencia, ¿no alza su voz?	1 Is not Wisdom cal ing? Is not Understanding raising her voice?
2 En la cumbre de las colinas que hay sobre el camino, en los cruces de sendas se detiene;	2 On the heights overlooking the road, at the crossways, she takes her stand;
3 junto a las puertas, a la salida de la ciudad, a la entrada de los portales, da sus voces:	3 by the gates, at the entrance to the city, on the access-roads, she cries out,
4 «A vosotros, hombres, os llamo, para los hijos de hombre es mi voz.	4 'I am cal ing to you, al people, my words are addressed to al humanity.
5 Entended, simples, la prudencia y vosotros, necios, sed razonables.	5 Simpletons, learn how to behave, fools, come to your senses.
6 Escuchad: voy a decir cosas importantes y es recto cuanto sale de mis labios.	6 Listen, I have something important to tel you, when I speak, my words are right.
7 Porque verdad es el susurro de mi boca y mis labios abominan la maldad.	7 My mouth proclaims the truth, for evil is abhorrent to my lips.
8 Justos son todos los dichos de mi boca, nada hay en ellos astuto ni tortuoso.	8 Al the words from my mouth are upright, nothing false there, nothing crooked,
9 Todos están abiertos para el inteligente y rectos para los que la ciencia han encontrado.	9 everything plain, if you can understand, straight, if you have acquired knowledge.
10 Recibid mi instrucción y no la plata, la ciencia más bien que el oro puro.	10 Accept my discipline rather than silver, and knowledge of me in preference to finest gold.
11 Porque mejor es la sabiduría que las piedras preciosas, ninguna cosa apetecible se le puede igualar.	11 For Wisdom is more precious than jewels, and nothing else is so worthy of desire.
12 «Yo, la Sabiduría, habito con la prudencia, yo he inventado la ciencia de la reflexión.	12 'I, Wisdom, share house with Discretion, I am mistress of the art of thought.
13 (El temor de Yahveh es odiar el mal.) La soberbia y la arrogancia y el camino malo y la boca torcida yo aborrezco.	13 (Fear of Yahweh means hatred of evil.) I hate pride and arrogance, wicked behaviour and a lyingmouth.
14 Míos son el consejo y la habilidad, yo soy la inteligencia, mía es la fuerza.	14 To me belong good advice and prudence, I am perception: power is mine!
15 Por mí los reyes reinan y los magistrados administran la justicia.	15 By me monarchs rule and princes decree what is right;
16 Por mí los príncipes gobiernan y los magnates, todos los jueces justos.	16 by me rulers govern, so do nobles, the lawful authorities.
17 Yo amo a los que me aman y los que me buscan me encontrarán.	17 I love those who love me; whoever searches eagerly for me finds me.
18 Conmigo están la riqueza y la gloria, la fortuna sólida y la justicia.	18 With me are riches and honour, lasting wealth and saving justice.
19 Mejor es mi fruto que el oro, que el oro puro, y mi renta mejor que la plata acrisolada.	19 The fruit I give is better than gold, even the finest, the return I make is better than pure silver.
20 Yo camino por la senda de la justicia, por los senderos de la equidad,	20 I walk in the way of uprightness in the path of justice,
21 para repartir hacienda a los que me aman y así llenar sus arcas».	21 to endow my friends with my wealth and to fil their treasuries.
22 «Yahveh me creó, primicia de su camino, antes que sus obras más antiguas.	22 'Yahweh created me, first-fruits of his fashioning, before the oldest of his works.
23 Desde la eternidad fui fundada, desde el principio, antes que la tierra.	23 From everlasting, I was firmly set, from the beginning, before the earth came into being.
24 Cuando no existían los abismos fui engendrada, cuando no había fuentes cargadas de agua.	24 The deep was not, when I was born, nor were the springs with their abounding waters.
25 Antes que los montes fuesen asentados, antes que las colinas, fui engendrada.	25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hil s, I came to birth;
26 No había hecho aún la tierra ni los campos, ni el polvo primordial del orbe.	26 before he had made the earth, the countryside, and the first elements of the world.
27 Cuando asentó los cielos, allí estaba yo, cuando trazó un círculo sobre la faz del abismo,	27 When he fixed the heavens firm, I was there, when he drew a circle on the surface of the deep,
28 cuando arriba condensó las nubes, cuando afianzó las fuentes del abismo,	28 when he thickened the clouds above, when the sources of the deep began to swel ,
29 cuando al mar dio su precepto - y las aguas no rebasarán su orilla - cuando asentó los cimientos de la tierra,	29 when he assigned the sea its boundaries -- and the waters will not encroach on the shore -- when hetraced the foundations of the earth,
30 yo estaba allí, como arquitecto, y era yo todos los días su delicia, jugando en su presencia en todo tiempo,	30 I was beside the master craftsman, delighting him day after day, ever at play in his presence,
31 jugando por el orbe de su tierra; y mis delicias están con los hijos de los hombres».	31 at play everywhere on his earth, delighting to be with the children of men.
32 «Ahora pues, hijos, escuchadme, dichosos los que guardan mis caminos.	32 'And now, my children, listen to me. Happy are those who keep my ways.
33 Escuchad la instrucción y haceos sabios, no la despreciéis.	33 Listen to instruction and become wise, do not reject it.
34 Dichoso el hombre que me escucha velando ante mi puerta cada día, guardando las jambas de mi entrada.	34 Blessed, whoever listens to me, who day after day keeps watch at my gates to guard my portals.
35 Porque el que me halla, ha hallado la vida, ha logrado el favor de Yahveh.	35 For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains the favour of Yahweh;
36 Pero el que me ofende, hace daño a su alma; todos los que me odian, aman la muerte».	36 but whoever misses me harms himself, al who hate me are in love with death.'
