Y'hoshua (יהושע) - Giosuè 15

1 וַיְהִי הַגֹּורָל לְמַטֵּה בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם אֶל־גְּבוּל אֱדֹום מִדְבַּר־צִן נֶגְבָּה מִקְצֵה תֵימָן	1 The portion falling to the tribe of the sons of Judah, by clans, was near the frontier of Edom, from thedesert of Zin southwards to Kadesh in the south.
2 וַיְהִי לָהֶם גְּבוּל נֶגֶב מִקְצֵה יָם הַמֶּלַח מִן־הַלָּשֹׁן הַפֹּנֶה נֶגְבָּה	2 Their southern frontier began at the tip of the Salt Sea, at the southerly bay;
3 וְיָצָא אֶל־מִנֶּגֶב לְמַעֲלֵה עַקְרַבִּים וְעָבַר צִנָה וְעָלָה מִנֶּגֶב לְקָדֵשׁ בַּרְנֵעַ וְעָבַר חֶצְרֹון וְעָלָה אַדָּרָה וְנָסַב הַקַּרְקָעָה	3 it proceeded south of the Ascent of Scorpions, crossed Zin and came up to Kadesh-Barnea from thesouth; past Hezron, it went on to Addar and turned towards Karka;
4 וְעָבַר עַצְמֹונָה וְיָצָא נַחַל מִצְרַיִם [וְהָיָה כ] (וְהָיוּ ק) תֹּצְאֹות הַגְּבוּל יָמָּה זֶה־יִהְיֶה לָכֶם גְּבוּל נֶגֶב	4 the frontier then went on to Azmon, came out at the Torrent of Egypt and reached as far as the sea.This is to be your southern frontier.
5 וּגְבוּל קֵדְמָה יָם הַמֶּלַח עַד־קְצֵה הַיַּרְדֵּן וּגְבוּל לִפְאַת צָפֹונָה מִלְּשֹׁון הַיָּם מִקְצֵה הַיַּרְדֵּן	5 The eastern frontier was the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan.
6 וְעָלָה הַגְּבוּל בֵּית חָגְלָה וְעָבַר מִצְּפֹון לְבֵית הָעֲרָבָה וְעָלָה הַגְּבוּל אֶבֶן בֹּהַן בֶּן־רְאוּבֵן	6 The northern boundary began at the bay at the mouth of the Jordan. The boundary went up to Beth-Hoglah, passed north of Beth-ha-Arabah and went on to the Stone of Bohan son of Reuben.
7 וְעָלָה הַגְּבוּל ׀ דְּבִרָה מֵעֵמֶק עָכֹור וְצָפֹונָה פֹּנֶה אֶל־הַגִּלְגָּל אֲשֶׁר־נֹכַח לְמַעֲלֵה אֲדֻמִּים אֲשֶׁר מִנֶּגֶב לַנָּחַל וְעָבַר הַגְּבוּל אֶל־מֵי־עֵין שֶׁמֶשׁ וְהָיוּ תֹצְאֹתָיו אֶל־עֵין רֹגֵל	7 The boundary then went on to Debir from the Vale of Achor and turned north towards the stone circleopposite the Ascent of Adummim, which is south of the Torrent; the boundary went on to the Waters of En-Shemesh and came out at En-Rogel.
8 וְעָלָה הַגְּבוּל גֵּי בֶן־הִנֹּם אֶל־כֶּתֶף הַיְבוּסִי מִנֶּגֶב הִיא יְרוּשָׁלִָם וְעָלָה הַגְּבוּל אֶל־רֹאשׁ הָהָר אֲשֶׁר עַל־פְּנֵי גֵי־הִנֹּם יָמָּה אֲשֶׁר בִּקְצֵה עֵמֶק־רְפָאִים צָפֹנָה	8 It then went back up the Val ey of Hinnom, coming from the south to the flank of the Jebusite -- that is,Jerusalem -- and climbed to the crest of the mountain barring the Valley of Hinnom to the west, at the northernend of the Val ey of the Rephaim.
9 וְתָאַר הַגְּבוּל מֵרֹאשׁ הָהָר אֶל־מַעְיַן מֵי נֶפְתֹּוחַ וְיָצָא אֶל־עָרֵי הַר־עֶפְרֹון וְתָאַר הַגְּבוּל בַּעֲלָה הִיא קִרְיַת יְעָרִים	9 From the mountain top, the boundary curved round to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah, went on tothe towns of Mount Ephron and then turned towards Baalah -- that is, Kiriath-Jearim.
10 וְנָסַב הַגְּבוּל מִבַּעֲלָה יָמָּה אֶל־הַר שֵׂעִיר וְעָבַר אֶל־כֶּתֶף הַר־יְעָרִים מִצָּפֹונָה הִיא כְסָלֹון וְיָרַד בֵּית־שֶׁמֶשׁ וְעָבַר תִּמְנָה	10 From Baalah, the boundary curved westwards to the highlands of Seir, skirted the northern slope ofMount Jearim -- that is, Chesalon -- went down to Beth-Shemesh and through Timnah,
11 וְיָצָא הַגְּבוּל אֶל־כֶּתֶף עֶקְרֹון צָפֹונָה וְתָאַר הַגְּבוּל שִׁכְּרֹונָה וְעָבַר הַר־הַבַּעֲלָה וְיָצָא יַבְנְאֵל וְהָיוּ תֹּצְאֹות הַגְּבוּל יָמָּה	11 came out on the northern flank of Ekron, turned towards Shikkeron and, passing through thehighlands of Baalah, came out at Jabneel, and reached as far as the sea.
12 וּגְבוּל יָם הַיָּמָּה הַגָּדֹול וּגְבוּל זֶה גְּבוּל בְּנֵי־יְהוּדָה סָבִיב לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם	12 The western boundary was the Great Sea itself. Such was the frontier surrounding the sons of Judah,by clans.
13 וּלְכָלֵב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּה נָתַן חֵלֶק בְּתֹוךְ בְּנֵי־יְהוּדָה אֶל־פִּי יְהוָה לִיהֹושֻׁעַ אֶת־קִרְיַת אַרְבַּע אֲבִי הָעֲנָק הִיא חֶבְרֹון	13 Caleb son of Jephunneh was given a share within that of the sons of Judah, in accordance withYahweh's order to Joshua: Kiriath-Arba, the town of the father of Anak -- that is, Hebron.
14 וַיֹּרֶשׁ מִשָּׁם כָּלֵב אֶת־שְׁלֹושָׁה בְּנֵי הָעֲנָק אֶת־שֵׁשַׁי וְאֶת־אֲחִימַן וְאֶת־תַּלְמַי יְלִידֵי הָעֲנָק	14 Caleb drove out the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai, descended from Anak.
15 וַיַּעַל מִשָּׁם אֶל־יֹשְׁבֵי דְּבִר וְשֵׁם־דְּבִר לְפָנִים קִרְיַת־סֵפֶר	15 From there he marched on the inhabitants of Debir; Debir in olden days was cal ed Kiriath-Sepher.
16 וַיֹּאמֶר כָּלֵב אֲשֶׁר־יַכֶּה אֶת־קִרְיַת־סֵפֶר וּלְכָדָהּ וְנָתַתִּי לֹו אֶת־עַכְסָה בִתִּי לְאִשָּׁה	16 Caleb then said, 'To the man who attacks and takes Kiriath-Sepher, I shal give my daughter Achsahas wife.'
17 וַיִּלְכְּדָהּ עָתְנִיאֵל בֶּן־קְנַז אֲחִי כָלֵב וַיִּתֶּן־לֹו אֶת־עַכְסָה בִתֹּו לְאִשָּׁה	17 The man who captured it was Othniel son of Kenaz, brother of Caleb, who gave him his daughterAchsah as wife.
18 וַיְהִי בְּבֹואָהּ וַתְּסִיתֵהוּ לִשְׁאֹול מֵאֵת־אָבִיהָ שָׂדֶה וַתִּצְנַח מֵעַל הַחֲמֹור וַיֹּאמֶר־לָהּ כָּלֵב מַה־לָּךְ	18 When she arrived, he urged her to ask her father for arable land, but when she alighted from thedonkey and Caleb asked her, 'What is the matter?'
19 וַתֹּאמֶר תְּנָה־לִּי בְרָכָה כִּי אֶרֶץ הַנֶּגֶב נְתַתָּנִי וְנָתַתָּה לִי גֻּלֹּת מָיִם וַיִּתֶּן־לָהּ אֵת גֻּלֹּת עִלִּיֹּות וְאֵת גֻּלֹּת תַּחְתִּיֹּות׃ פ	19 she said to him, 'Grant me a blessing! As the land you have given me is the Negeb, give me springsof water too!' So Caleb gave her what she wanted, the upper springs and the lower springs.
20 זֹאת נַחֲלַת מַטֵּה בְנֵי־יְהוּדָה לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם	20 Such was the heritage of the tribe of the sons of Judah, by clans.
21 וַיִּהְיוּ הֶעָרִים מִקְצֵה לְמַטֵּה בְנֵי־יְהוּדָה אֶל־גְּבוּל אֱדֹום בַּנֶּגְבָּה קַבְצְאֵל וְעֵדֶר וְיָגוּר	21 Towns at the extremity of the tribe of the sons of Judah, near the frontier of Edom in the Negeb:Kabzeel, Arad, Jagur,
22 וְקִינָה וְדִימֹונָה וְעַדְעָדָה	22 Kinah, Dimon, Aroer,
23 וְקֶדֶשׁ וְחָצֹור וְיִתְנָן	23 Kedesh, Hazor-Ithnan,
24 זִיף וָטֶלֶם וּבְעָלֹות	24 Ziph, Telem, Bealoth,
25 וְחָצֹור ׀ חֲדַתָּה וּקְרִיֹּות חֶצְרֹון הִיא חָצֹור	25 Hazor-Hadattah, Kiriath-Hezron -- that is, Hazor-
26 אֲמָם וּשְׁמַע וּמֹולָדָה	26 Amam, Shema, Moladah,
27 וַחֲצַר גַּדָּה וְחֶשְׁמֹון וּבֵית פָּלֶט	27 Hazar-Gaddah, Heshmon, Beth-Pelet,
28 וַחֲצַר שׁוּעָל וּבְאֵר שֶׁבַע וּבִזְיֹותְיָה	28 Hazar-Shual, Beersheba and its dependencies,
29 בַּעֲלָה וְעִיִּים וָעָצֶם	29 Baalah, Iim, Ezem,
30 וְאֶלְתֹּולַד וּכְסִיל וְחָרְמָה	30 Eltolad, Chesil, Hormah,
31 וְצִקְלַג וּמַדְמַנָּה וְסַנְסַנָּה	31 Ziklag, Madmannah, Sansannah,
32 וּלְבָאֹות וְשִׁלְחִים וְעַיִן וְרִמֹּון כָּל־עָרִים עֶשְׂרִים וָתֵשַׁע וְחַצְרֵיהֶן׃ ס	32 Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain and Rimmon: in al , twenty-nine towns with their vil ages.
33 בַּשְּׁפֵלָה אֶשְׁתָּאֹול וְצָרְעָה וְאַשְׁנָה	33 In the lowlands: Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah,
34 וְזָנֹוחַ וְעֵין גַּנִּים תַּפּוּחַ וְהָעֵינָם	34 Zanoah, En-Gannim, Tappuah, Enam,
35 יַרְמוּת וַעֲדֻלָּם שֹׂוכֹה וַעֲזֵקָה	35 Jarmuth, Adul am, Socoh, Azekah,
36 וְשַׁעֲרַיִם וַעֲדִיתַיִם וְהַגְּדֵרָה וּגְדֵרֹתָיִם עָרִים אַרְבַּע־עֶשְׂרֵה וְחַצְרֵיהֶן	36 Shaaraim, Aditaim, Ha-Gederah and Gederothaim: fourteen towns with their vil ages.
37 צְנָן וַחֲדָשָׁה וּמִגְדַּל־גָּד	37 Zenan, Hadashah, Migdal-Gad,
38 וְדִלְעָן וְהַמִּצְפֶּה וְיָקְתְאֵל	38 Dilean, Ha-Mizpeh, Jokteel,
39 לָכִישׁ וּבָצְקַת וְעֶגְלֹון	39 Lachish, Bozkath, Eglon,
40 וְכַבֹּון וְלַחְמָס וְכִתְלִישׁ	40 Cabbon, Lahmas, Chitlish,
41 וּגְדֵרֹות בֵּית־דָּגֹון וְנַעֲמָה וּמַקֵּדָה עָרִים שֵׁשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵה וְחַצְרֵיהֶן׃ ס	41 Gederoth, Beth-Dagon, Naamah and Makkedah: sixteen towns with their vil ages.
42 לִבְנָה וָעֶתֶר וְעָשָׁן	42 Libna, Ether, Asham,
43 וְיִפְתָּח וְאַשְׁנָה וּנְצִיב	43 Iphtah, Ashnah, Nezib,
44 וּקְעִילָה וְאַכְזִיב וּמָרֵאשָׁה עָרִים תֵּשַׁע וְחַצְרֵיהֶן	44 Keilah, Achzib and Mareshah: nine towns with their vil ages.
45 עֶקְרֹון וּבְנֹתֶיהָ וַחֲצֵרֶיהָ	45 Ekron with its dependencies and its vil ages.
46 מֵעֶקְרֹון וָיָמָּה כֹּל אֲשֶׁר־עַל־יַד אַשְׁדֹּוד וְחַצְרֵיהֶן	46 From Ekron to the sea, everything to the side of Ashdod, with its vil ages.
47 אַשְׁדֹּוד בְּנֹותֶיהָ וַחֲצֵרֶיהָ עַזָּה בְּנֹותֶיהָ וַחֲצֵרֶיהָ עַד־נַחַל מִצְרָיִם וְהַיָּם [הַגָּבֹול כ] (הַגָּדֹול ק) וּגְבוּל׃ ס	47 Ashdod with its dependencies and its vil ages; Gaza with its dependencies and its vil ages as far asthe Torrent of Egypt, the Great Sea forming the boundary.
48 וּבָהָר שָׁמִיר וְיַתִּיר וְשֹׂוכֹה	48 In the highlands: Shamir, Jattir, Socoh,
49 וְדַנָּה וְקִרְיַת־סַנָּה הִיא דְבִר	49 Dannah, Kiriath-Sepher, now Debir,
50 וַעֲנָב וְאֶשְׁתְּמֹה וְעָנִים	50 Anab, Eshtemoh, Anim,
51 וְגֹשֶׁן וְחֹלֹן וְגִלֹה עָרִים אַחַת־עֶשְׂרֵה וְחַצְרֵיהֶן	51 Goshen, Holon and Giloh: eleven towns with their vil ages.
52 אֲרַב וְרוּמָה וְאֶשְׁעָן	52 Arab, Dumah, Eshan,
53 [וְיָנִים כ] (וְיָנוּם ק) וּבֵית־תַּפּוּחַ וַאֲפֵקָה	53 Janum, Beth-Tappuah, Aphekah,
54 וְחֻמְטָה וְקִרְיַת אַרְבַּע הִיא חֶבְרֹון וְצִיעֹר עָרִים תֵּשַׁע וְחַצְרֵיהֶן׃ ס	54 Humtah, Kiriath-Arba, now Hebron, and Zior: nine towns with their vil ages.
55 מָעֹון ׀ כַּרְמֶל וָזִיף וְיוּטָּה	55 Maon, Carmel, Ziph, Juttah,
56 וְיִזְרְעֶאל וְיָקְדְעָם וְזָנֹוחַ	56 Jezreel, Jokdeam, Zanoah,
57 הַקַּיִן גִּבְעָה וְתִמְנָה עָרִים עֶשֶׂר וְחַצְרֵיהֶן	57 Ha-Kain, Gibeah and Timnah: ten towns with their vil ages.
58 חַלְחוּל בֵּית־צוּר וּגְדֹור	58 Halhul, Beth-Zur, Gedor,
59 וּמַעֲרָת וּבֵית־עֲנֹות וְאֶלְתְּקֹן עָרִים שֵׁשׁ וְחַצְרֵיהֶן	59 Maarath, Beth-Anoth and Eltekon: six towns with their vil ages. Tekoa, Ephrathah, now Bethlehem,Peor, Etam, Kulon, Tatam, Sores, Carem, Gallim, Bether and Manach: eleven towns with their vil ages.
60 קִרְיַת־בַּעַל הִיא קִרְיַת יְעָרִים וְהָרַבָּה עָרִים שְׁתַּיִם וְחַצְרֵיהֶן׃ ס	60 Kiriath-Baal, that is Kiriath-Jearim, and Rabbah: two towns with their vil ages.
61 בַּמִּדְבָּר בֵּית הָעֲרָבָה מִדִּין וּסְכָכָה	61 In the desert: Beth-Arabah, Middin, Secacah,
62 וְהַנִּבְשָׁן וְעִיר־הַמֶּלַח וְעֵין גֶּדִי עָרִים שֵׁשׁ וְחַצְרֵיהֶן	62 Nibshan, Salt Town and En-Gedi: six towns with their vil ages.
63 וְאֶת־הַיְבוּסִי יֹושְׁבֵי יְרוּשָׁלִַם לֹא־ [יוּכְלוּ כ] (יָכְלוּ ק) בְנֵי־יְהוּדָה לְהֹורִישָׁם וַיֵּשֶׁב הַיְבוּסִי אֶת־בְּנֵי יְהוּדָה בִּירוּשָׁלִַם עַד הַיֹּום הַזֶּה׃ פ	63 The Jebusites, however, who lived in Jerusalem, the sons of Judah were unable to dispossess, andthe Jebusites stil live in Jerusalem today, side by side with the sons of Judah.
