Acts of the Apostles 13

1 Now there were, in the Church at Antioch, prophets and teachers, among whom were Barnabas, and Simon, who was called the Black, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manahen, who was the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.	1 C'erano nella chiesa stabilita ad Antiochia profeti e dottori: Bàrnaba, Simeone detto il Nero, Lucio di Cirene, Manaèn, educato insieme ad Erode il tetrarca, e Saulo.
2 Now as they were ministering for the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said to them: “Separate Saul and Barnabas for me, for the work for which I have selected them.”	2 Mentre essi prestavano servizio cultuale al Signore e facevano digiuni, lo Spirito Santo disse: "Mettetemi da parte Bàrnaba e Saulo per l'opera a cui li ho destinati".
3 Then, fasting and praying and imposing their hands upon them, they sent them away.	3 Allora, dopo aver digiunato e pregato, imposero loro le mani e li lasciarono partire.
4 And having been sent by the Holy Spirit, they went to Seleucia. And from there they sailed to Cyprus.	4 Essi, mandati in missione dallo Spirito Santo, scesero a Seleucia e di là si imbarcarono per Cipro.
5 And when they had arrived at Salamis, they were preaching the Word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they also had John in the ministry.	5 Giunti a Salamina, vi annunciavano la parola di Dio nelle sinagoghe dei Giudei. Avevano anche Giovanni come aiutante.
6 And when they had traveled throughout the entire island, even to Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-Jesu.	6 Attraversata tutta l'isola fino a Pafo, trovarono un mago, uno pseudoprofeta giudeo, di nome Bar-Iesus,
7 And he was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man. This man, summoning Barnabas and Saul, wanted to hear the Word of God.	7 che stava col proconsole Sergio Paolo, uomo intelligente. Costui fece chiamare Bàrnaba e Saulo, perché desiderava ascoltare la parola di Dio.
8 But Elymas the magician (for so his name is translated) stood against them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the Faith.	8 Ma Elimas, il mago (questo infatti è il significato del suo nome), si opponeva loro cercando di distogliere il proconsole dalla fede.
9 Then Saul, who is also called Paul, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him,	9 Allora Saulo, detto anche Paolo, pieno di Spirito Santo, fissandolo in volto disse:
10 and he said: “So full of every deceit and of all falsehoods, son of the devil, enemy of all justice, you never cease to subvert the righteous ways of the Lord!	10 "Uomo ricolmo di ogni inganno e di ogni malizia, figlio del diavolo, nemico di ogni giustizia, non la finirai di distorcere le vie rette del Signore?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you. And you will be blinded, not seeing the sun for a length of time.” And immediately a fog and a darkness fell over him. And wandering around, he was seeking someone who might lead him by the hand.	11 Ed ora, ecco, la mano del Signore è su di te: resterai cieco e per un certo tempo non potrai vedere la luce del sole". In quell'istante buio e oscurità lo avvolsero ed egli andava intorno cercando chi lo conducesse per mano.
12 Then the proconsul, when he had seen what was done, believed, being in wonder over the doctrine of the Lord.	12 Allora il proconsole, vedendo ciò che era accaduto, abbracciò la fede, colpito dalla dottrina del Signore.
13 And when Paul and those who were with him had sailed from Paphos, they arrived at Perga in Pamphylia. Then John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.	13 Paolo e i suoi compagni s'imbarcarono da Pafo e giunsero a Perge di Panfilia. Giovanni si separò da loro e ritornò a Gerusalemme.
14 Yet truly, they, traveling on from Perga, arrived at Antioch in Pisidia. And upon entering the synagogue on the Sabbath day, they sat down.	14 Essi, partendo da Perge, con una traversata giunsero ad Antiochia di Pisidia. Il giorno di sabato entrarono nella sinagoga e si posero a sedere.
15 Then, after the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent to them, saying: “Noble brothers, if there is in you any word of exhortation to the people, speak.”	15 Dopo la lettura della legge e dei profeti, i capi della sinagoga mandarono a dir loro: "Fratelli, se avete qualche parola d'esortazione per il popolo, ditela".
16 Then Paul, rising up and motioning for silence with his hand, said: “Men of Israel and you who fear God, listen closely.	16 Allora Paolo, alzatosi e fatto segno con la mano, disse: "Uomini d'Israele e voi che temete Dio, ascoltate.
17 The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people, when they were settlers in the land of Egypt. And with an exalted arm, he led them away from there.	17 Il Dio di questo popolo d'Israele scelse i padri nostri ed esaltò il popolo durante la sua dimora in Egitto, e con opere prodigiose li condusse fuori da quella terra.
18 And throughout a time of forty years, he endured their behavior in the desert.	18 Per circa quarant'anni li assisté nel deserto.
19 And by destroying seven nations in the land of Canaan, he divided their land among them by lot,	19 Poi distrusse sette popoli nella terra di Canaan e diede ad essi in eredità la loro terra:
20 after about four hundred and fifty years. And after these things, he gave them judges, even until the prophet Samuel.	20 tutto ciò nello spazio di circa quattrocentocinquant'anni. Dopo diede loro dei giudici fino al profeta Samuele.
21 And later on, they petitioned for a king. And God gave them Saul, the son of Kish, a man from the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.	21 Poi chiesero un re e Dio diede loro Saul figlio di Cis, della tribù di Beniamino, per quarant'anni.
22 And having removed him, he raised up for them king David. And offering testimony about him, he said, ‘I have found David, the son of Jesse, to be a man according to my own heart, who will accomplish all that I will.’	22 Dopo averlo deposto, suscitò loro un altro re, Davide, e gli rese questa testimonianza: Ho trovato Davide, figlio di Iesse, secondo il mio cuore, che eseguirà tutti i miei voleri.
23 From his offspring, according to the Promise, God has brought Jesus the Savior to Israel.	23 Dalla sua discendenza Dio, secondo la promessa, trasse un salvatore per Israele, Gesù.
24 John was preaching, before the face of his advent, a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.	24 Giovanni preparò la sua venuta predicando un battesimo di penitenza a tutto il popolo d'Israele.
25 Then, when John completed his course, he was saying: ‘I am not the one you consider me to be. For behold, one arrives after me, the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to loosen.’	25 E quando Giovanni stava per compiere la sua missione, diceva: "Io non sono ciò che voi pensate che io sia; ma ecco, viene dopo di me uno a cui io non sono degno di slegare i sandali".
26 Noble brothers, sons of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, it is to you the Word of this salvation has been sent.	26 Fratelli, figli della stirpe di Abramo, e voi che temete Dio, è a noi che è stato mandato questo messaggio di salvezza.
27 For those who were living in Jerusalem, and its rulers, heeding neither him, nor the voices of the Prophets that are read on every Sabbath, fulfilled these by judging him.	27 Infatti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme e i loro capi, rifiutando di riconoscere lui e non comprendendo gli oracoli dei profeti che si leggono ogni sabato, li hanno adempiuti, pronunciando la sua condanna.
28 And although they found no case for death against him, they petitioned Pilate, so that they might put him to death.	28 E pur non avendo trovato nessun motivo di condanna a morte, chiesero a Pilato che fosse ucciso.
29 And when they had fulfilled everything that had been written about him, taking him down from the tree, they placed him in a tomb.	29 Quando ebbero compiuto tutto ciò che era stato scritto intorno a lui, lo deposero dal patibolo e lo misero in un sepolcro.
30 Yet truly, God raised him up from the dead on the third day.	30 Ma Dio l'ha risuscitato dai morti
31 And he was seen for many days by those who went up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who even now are his witnesses to the people.	31 ed è apparso durante molti giorni a quelli che erano saliti con lui dalla Galilea a Gerusalemme, i quali ora sono suoi testimoni davanti al popolo.
32 And we are announcing to you that the Promise, which was made to our fathers,	32 E noi vi proclamiamo la buona novella: la promessa fatta ai padri
33 has been fulfilled by God for our children by raising up Jesus, just as it has been written in the second Psalm also: ‘You are my Son. This day I have begotten you.’	33 Dio l'ha adempiuta per noi, loro figli, facendo risorgere Gesù, come è scritto nel salmo secondo: Tu sei mio figlio, io oggi ti ho generato.
34 Now, since he raised him from the dead, so as to no longer return to corruption, he has said this: ‘I will give to you the holy things of David, the faithful one.’	34 Che poi lo abbia fatto risuscitare dai morti così che non ritorni alla corruzione, lo ha detto affermando: Darò a voi le cose sante di Davide, quelle permanenti.
35 And also then, in another place, he says: ‘You will not allow your Holy One to see corruption.’	35 Perciò dice ancora in un altro luogo: Non permetterai che il tuo santo veda la corruzione.
36 For David, when he had ministered to his generation in accordance with the will of God, fell asleep, and he was placed next to his fathers, and he saw corruption.	36 Davide infatti, dopo aver adempiuto nella sua generazione la volontà di Dio, si addormentò, fu sepolto con i suoi padri e vide la corruzione.
37 Yet truly, he whom God has raised from the dead has not seen corruption.	37 Ma colui che Dio ha risuscitato non ha visto la corruzione.
38 Therefore, let it be known to you, noble brothers, that through him is announced to you remission from sins and from everything by which you were not able to be justified in the law of Moses.	38 Vi sia dunque noto, o fratelli, che per mezzo suo a voi è annunciato il perdono dei peccati. E l'intera giustificazione, che non avete potuto ottenere mediante la legge di Mosè,
39 In him, all who believe are justified.	39 per mezzo suo la ottiene chiunque crede.
40 Therefore, be careful, lest what was said by the Prophets may overwhelm you:	40 Guardate perciò che non si avveri per voi la parola dei profeti:
41 ‘You despisers! Look, and wonder, and be scattered! For I am working a deed in your days, a deed which you would not believe, even if someone were to explain it to you.’ ”	41 Guardate, o spergiuri, stupitevi e allibite, perché io farò un'opera nei vostri giorni, un'opera che non la credereste se ve la raccontassero".
42 Then, as they were departing, they asked them if, on the following Sabbath, they might speak these words to them.	42 All'uscita li pregavano di parlare loro di queste cose anche nel sabato seguente.
43 And when the synagogue had been dismissed, many among the Jews and the new worshipers were following Paul and Barnabas. And they, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.	43 Scioltasi l'adunanza, molti Giudei e proseliti adoratori di Dio accompagnarono Paolo e Bàrnaba, i quali, continuando a parlare loro, li persuasero a perseverare nella grazia di Dio.
44 Yet truly, on the following Sabbath, nearly the entire city came together to hear the Word of God.	44 Il sabato seguente quasi tutta la città si radunò per ascoltare la parola di Dio.
45 Then the Jews, seeing the crowds, were filled with envy, and they, blaspheming, contradicted the things that were being said by Paul.	45 I Giudei, vedendo quella folla, furono presi da gelosia e contraddicevano alle cose dette da Paolo, bestemmiando.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas said firmly: “It was necessary to speak the Word of God first to you. But because you reject it, and so judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.	46 Allora Paolo e Bàrnaba, pieni di ardire, dissero: "Era necessario annunciare a voi prima di tutti la parola di Dio. Ma poiché la respingete e non vi ritenete degni della vita eterna, ecco, ci rivolgiamo ai pagani!
47 For so has the Lord instructed us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, so that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”	47 Così infatti ci ha ordinato il Signore: Ti ho posto a luce delle genti perché tu porti la salvezza fino all'estremità della terra".
48 Then the Gentiles, upon hearing this, were gladdened, and they were glorifying the Word of the Lord. And as many as believed were preordained to eternal life.	48 I pagani che ascoltavano ciò si rallegravano e glorificavano la parola di Dio, e quanti erano preordinati alla vita eterna abbracciarono la fede.
49 Now the word of the Lord was disseminated throughout the entire region.	49 La parola del Signore si diffondeva per tutta la regione.
50 But the Jews incited some devout and honest women, and the leaders of the city. And they stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas. And they drove them away from their parts.	50 Ma i Giudei istigarono le donne devote della nobiltà e gli uomini di primo piano della città, suscitarono una persecuzione contro Paolo e Barnaba e li cacciarono dai loro confini.
51 But they, shaking the dust from their feet against them, went on to Iconium.	51 Essi allora, scuotendo la polvere dai loro piedi contro di essi, se ne vennero a Iconio,
52 The disciples were likewise filled with gladness and with the Holy Spirit.	52 mentre i discepoli erano pieni di letizia e di Spirito Santo.
