Acts of the Apostles 13

1 Now there were, in the Church at Antioch, prophets and teachers, among whom were Barnabas, and Simon, who was called the Black, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manahen, who was the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.	1 C'erano nella comunità di Antiòchia profeti e dottori: Bàrnaba, Simeone soprannominato Niger, Lucio di Cirène, Manaèn, compagno d'infanzia di Erode tetrarca, e Saulo.
2 Now as they were ministering for the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said to them: “Separate Saul and Barnabas for me, for the work for which I have selected them.”	2 Mentre essi stavano celebrando il culto del Signore e digiunando, lo Spirito Santo disse: "Riservate per me Bàrnaba e Saulo per l'opera alla quale li ho chiamati".
3 Then, fasting and praying and imposing their hands upon them, they sent them away.	3 Allora, dopo aver digiunato e pregato, imposero loro le mani e li accomiatarono.
4 And having been sent by the Holy Spirit, they went to Seleucia. And from there they sailed to Cyprus.	4 Essi dunque, inviati dallo Spirito Santo, discesero a Selèucia e di qui salparono verso Cipro.
5 And when they had arrived at Salamis, they were preaching the Word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they also had John in the ministry.	5 Giunti a Salamina cominciarono ad annunziare la parola di Dio nelle sinagoghe dei Giudei, avendo con loro anche Giovanni come aiutante.
6 And when they had traveled throughout the entire island, even to Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-Jesu.	6 Attraversata tutta l'isola fino a Pafo, vi trovarono un tale, mago e falso profeta giudeo, di nome Bar-Iesus,
7 And he was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man. This man, summoning Barnabas and Saul, wanted to hear the Word of God.	7 al seguito del proconsole Sergio Paolo, persona di senno, che aveva fatto chiamare a sé Bàrnaba e Saulo e desiderava ascoltare la parola di Dio.
8 But Elymas the magician (for so his name is translated) stood against them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the Faith.	8 Ma Elimas, il mago, - ciò infatti significa il suo nome - faceva loro opposizione cercando di distogliere il proconsole dalla fede.
9 Then Saul, who is also called Paul, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him,	9 Allora Saulo, detto anche Paolo, pieno di Spirito Santo, fissò gli occhi su di lui e disse:
10 and he said: “So full of every deceit and of all falsehoods, son of the devil, enemy of all justice, you never cease to subvert the righteous ways of the Lord!	10 "O uomo pieno di ogni frode e di ogni malizia, figlio del diavolo, nemico di ogni giustizia, quando cesserai di sconvolgere le vie diritte del Signore?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you. And you will be blinded, not seeing the sun for a length of time.” And immediately a fog and a darkness fell over him. And wandering around, he was seeking someone who might lead him by the hand.	11 Ecco la mano del Signore è sopra di te: sarai cieco e per un certo tempo non vedrai il sole". Di colpo piombò su di lui oscurità e tenebra, e brancolando cercava chi lo guidasse per mano.
12 Then the proconsul, when he had seen what was done, believed, being in wonder over the doctrine of the Lord.	12 Quando vide l'accaduto, il proconsole credette, colpito dalla dottrina del Signore.
13 And when Paul and those who were with him had sailed from Paphos, they arrived at Perga in Pamphylia. Then John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.	13 Salpati da Pafo, Paolo e i suoi compagni giunsero a Perge di Panfilia. Giovanni si separò da loro e ritornò a Gerusalemme.
14 Yet truly, they, traveling on from Perga, arrived at Antioch in Pisidia. And upon entering the synagogue on the Sabbath day, they sat down.	14 Essi invece proseguendo da Perge, arrivarono ad Antiòchia di Pisidia ed entrati nella sinagoga nel giorno di sabato, si sedettero.
15 Then, after the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent to them, saying: “Noble brothers, if there is in you any word of exhortation to the people, speak.”	15 Dopo la lettura della Legge e dei Profeti, i capi della sinagoga mandarono a dire loro: "Fratelli, se avete qualche parola di esortazione per il popolo, parlate!".
16 Then Paul, rising up and motioning for silence with his hand, said: “Men of Israel and you who fear God, listen closely.	16 Si alzò Paolo e fatto cenno con la mano disse: "Uomini di Israele e voi timorati di Dio, ascoltate.
17 The God of the people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people, when they were settlers in the land of Egypt. And with an exalted arm, he led them away from there.	17 Il Dio di questo popolo d'Israele scelse i nostri padri ed esaltò il popolo durante il suo esilio in terra d'Egitto, 'e con braccio potente li condusse via di là'.
18 And throughout a time of forty years, he endured their behavior in the desert.	18 Quindi, 'dopo essersi preso cura di loro per circa quarant'anni nel deserto',

21 And later on, they petitioned for a king. And God gave them Saul, the son of Kish, a man from the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years.	21 Allora essi chiesero un re e Dio diede loro Saul, figlio di Cis, della tribù di Beniamino, per quaranta anni.
22 And having removed him, he raised up for them king David. And offering testimony about him, he said, ‘I have found David, the son of Jesse, to be a man according to my own heart, who will accomplish all that I will.’	22 E, dopo averlo rimosso dal regno, suscitò per loro come re Davide, al quale rese questa testimonianza: 'Ho trovato Davide', figlio di Iesse, 'uomo secondo il mio cuore'; egli adempirà tutti i miei voleri.
23 From his offspring, according to the Promise, God has brought Jesus the Savior to Israel.	23 Dalla discendenza di lui, secondo la promessa, Dio trasse per Israele un salvatore, Gesù.
24 John was preaching, before the face of his advent, a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.	24 Giovanni aveva preparato la sua venuta predicando un battesimo di penitenza a tutto il popolo d'Israele.
25 Then, when John completed his course, he was saying: ‘I am not the one you consider me to be. 26 Noble brothers, sons of the stock of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, it is to you the Word of this salvation has been sent.	26 Fratelli, figli della stirpe di Abramo, e quanti fra voi siete timorati di Dio, a noi è stata mandata questa parola di salvezza.
27 For those who were living in Jerusalem, and its rulers, heeding neither him, nor the voices of the Prophets that are read on every Sabbath, fulfilled these by judging him.	27 Gli abitanti di Gerusalemme infatti e i loro capi non l'hanno riconosciuto e condannandolo hanno adempiuto le parole dei profeti che si leggono ogni sabato;
28 And although they found no case for death against him, they petitioned Pilate, so that they might put him to death.	28 e, pur non avendo trovato in lui nessun motivo di condanna a morte, chiesero a Pilato che fosse ucciso.
29 And when they had fulfilled everything that had been written about him, taking him down from the tree, they placed him in a tomb.	29 Dopo aver compiuto tutto quanto era stato scritto di lui, lo deposero dalla croce e lo misero nel sepolcro.
30 Yet truly, God raised him up from the dead on the third day.	30 Ma Dio lo ha risuscitato dai morti
31 And he was seen for many days by those who went up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who even now are his witnesses to the people.	31 ed egli è apparso per molti giorni a quelli che erano saliti con lui dalla Galilea a Gerusalemme, e questi ora sono i suoi testimoni davanti al popolo.
32 And we are announcing to you that the Promise, which was made to our fathers,	32 E noi vi annunziamo la buona novella che la promessa fatta ai padri si è compiuta,
33 has been fulfilled by God for our children by raising up Jesus, just as it has been written in the second Psalm also: ‘You are my Son. This day I have begotten you.’	33 poiché Dio l'ha attuata per noi, loro figli, risuscitando Gesù, come anche sta scritto nel salmo secondo: 'Mio figlio sei tu, oggi ti ho generato.'
34 Now, since he raised him from the dead, so as to no longer return to corruption, he has said this: ‘I will give to you the holy things of David, the faithful one.’	34 E che Dio lo ha risuscitato dai morti, in modo che non abbia mai più a tornare alla corruzione, è quanto ha dichiarato: 'Darò a voi le cose sante promesse a Davide, quelle sicure.'
35 And also then, in another place, he says: ‘You will not allow your Holy One to see corruption.’	35 Per questo anche in un altro luogo dice: 'Non permetterai che il tuo santo subisca la corruzione.'
36 For David, when he had ministered to his generation in accordance with the will of God, fell asleep, and he was placed next to his fathers, and he saw corruption.	36 Ora Davide, dopo aver eseguito il volere di Dio nella sua generazione, morì e fu unito ai suoi padri e subì la corruzione.
37 Yet truly, he whom God has raised from the dead has not seen corruption.	37 Ma colui che Dio ha risuscitato, non ha subìto la corruzione.
38 Therefore, let it be known to you, noble brothers, that through him is announced to you remission from sins and from everything by which you were not able to be justified in the law of Moses.	38 Vi sia dunque noto, fratelli, che per opera di lui vi viene annunziata la remissione dei peccati
39 In him, all who believe are justified.	39 e che per lui chiunque crede riceve giustificazione da tutto ciò da cui non vi fu possibile essere giustificati mediante la legge di Mosè.
40 Therefore, be careful, lest what was said by the Prophets may overwhelm you:	40 Guardate dunque che non avvenga su di voi ciò che è detto nei Profeti:
41 ‘You despisers! Look, and wonder, and be scattered! For I am working a deed in your days, a deed which you would not believe, even if someone were to explain it to you.’ ”	41 'Mirate, beffardi, stupite e nascondetevi, poiché un'opera io compio ai vostri giorni, un'opera che non credereste, se vi fosse raccontata'!".
42 Then, as they were departing, they asked them if, on the following Sabbath, they might speak these words to them.	42 E, mentre uscivano, li pregavano di esporre ancora queste cose nel prossimo sabato.
43 And when the synagogue had been dismissed, many among the Jews and the new worshipers were following Paul and Barnabas. And they, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.	43 Sciolta poi l'assemblea, molti Giudei e proseliti credenti in Dio seguirono Paolo e Bàrnaba ed essi, intrattenendosi con loro, li esortavano a perseverare nella grazia di Dio.
44 Yet truly, on the following Sabbath, nearly the entire city came together to hear the Word of God.	44 Il sabato seguente quasi tutta la città si radunò per ascoltare la parola di Dio.
45 Then the Jews, seeing the crowds, were filled with envy, and they, blaspheming, contradicted the things that were being said by Paul.	45 Quando videro quella moltitudine, i Giudei furono pieni di gelosia e contraddicevano le affermazioni di Paolo, bestemmiando.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas said firmly: “It was necessary to speak the Word of God first to you. But because you reject it, and so judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.	46 Allora Paolo e Bàrnaba con franchezza dichiararono: "Era necessario che fosse annunziata a voi per primi la parola di Dio, ma poiché la respingete e non vi giudicate degni della vita eterna, ecco noi ci rivolgiamo ai pagani.
47 For so has the Lord instructed us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, so that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”	47 Così infatti ci ha ordinato il Signore: 'Io ti ho posto come luce per le genti, perché tu porti la salvezza sino all'estremità della terra'".
48 Then the Gentiles, upon hearing this, were gladdened, and they were glorifying the Word of the Lord. And as many as believed were preordained to eternal life.	48 Nell'udir ciò, i pagani si rallegravano e glorificavano la parola di Dio e abbracciarono la fede tutti quelli che erano destinati alla vita eterna.
49 Now the word of the Lord was disseminated throughout the entire region.	49 La parola di Dio si diffondeva per tutta la regione.
50 But the Jews incited some devout and honest women, and the leaders of the city. And they stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas. And they drove them away from their parts.	50 Ma i Giudei sobillarono le donne pie di alto rango e i notabili della città e suscitarono una persecuzione contro Paolo e Bàrnaba e li scacciarono dal loro territorio.
51 But they, shaking the dust from their feet against them, went on to Iconium.	51 Allora essi, scossa contro di loro la polvere dei piedi, andarono a Icònio,
52 The disciples were likewise filled with gladness and with the Holy Spirit.	52 mentre i discepoli erano pieni di gioia e di Spirito Santo.
