1 And as he was departing from the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Teacher, observe these fine stones and fine structures.”	1 E mentre usciva dal tempio, uno dei suoi discepoli gli disse: Maestro, guarda che pietre, che fabbrica!
2 And in response, Jesus said to him: “Do you see all these great buildings? There shall not be left stone upon stone, which is not torn down.”	2 Ma Gesù gli rispose: Vedi In questi grandi edifici? Non ri­marrà pietra su pietra che non sia diroccata.
3 And as he sat at the Mount of Olives, opposite the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew questioned him privately.	3 E mentre egli se­deva sul monte degli Ulivi, di faccia al tempio, Pietro, Giaco­mo e Giovanni e Andrea gii do­mandarono in disparte:
4 “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things will begin to be fulfilled?”	4 Spiega­ci, quando accadranno queste cose e qual ne sarà il segno quan­do tutto ciò sarà per effettuarsi?
5 And Jesus, answering, began to say to them: “See to it that no one leads you astray.	5 E Gesù prese a dir loro: Ba­date che nessuno vi seduca.
6 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘For I am he,’ and they will lead many astray.	6 Perchè molti verranno in nome mio a dire: Son io, e sedurranno mol­ti.
7 But when you will have heard of wars and rumors of wars, you should not be afraid. For these things must be, but the end is not so soon.	7 Quando poi sentirete guer­re e rumori di guerre, non te­mete, è necessario che ciò avven­ga, ma non sarà ancora la fine.
8 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom over kingdom, and there shall be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are but the beginning of the sorrows.	8 Perchè si solleverà popolo con­tro popolo, e regno contro regno, e ci saranno dei terremoti in va­ri luoghi e carestie. Questo è il principio dei dolori.
9 But see to yourselves. For they will hand you over to councils, and in the synagogues you will be beaten, and you shall stand before governors and kings because of me, as a testimony for them.	9 Ma voi ba­date a voi stessi, perchè vi consegneranno ai Sinedrii, e sarete flagellati nelle Sinagoghe e sarete per causa mia fatti comparire davanti ai presidi ed ai re della terra, a rendere la testimonianza dinanzi a loro.
10 And the Gospel must first be preached to all nations.	10 Ma prima bisogna che il Vangelo sia predicato intutte le nazioni.
11 And when they have seized you and handed you over, do not consider in advance what to say. But whatever will be given you in that hour, say that. For you will not be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.	11 E quando vi condurranno ai tribunali, non vi preoccupate di quel che avrete a dire, ma quello che in quel punto vi sarà dato, quello dite; perchè non siete voi che parlate, ma lo Spirito Santo.
12 Then brother will betray brother to death, and the father, a son; and children will rise up against their parents and will bring about their death.	12 E il fratello darà a morte il fratello, il padre il figlio, e i figli si rivolteranno contro i genitori e li faranno morire.
13 And you will be hated by all for the sake of my name. But whoever will have persevered unto the end, the same will be saved.	13 E sarete in odio a tutti per il mio nome. Ma chi avrà perseverato sino alla fine si salverà.
14 Then, when you have seen the abomination of desolation, standing where it ought not to be, let the reader understand: then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.	14 Quando poi vedrete l'abominazione della desolazione posta dove non dovrebbe stare (chi legge intenda) allora quanti sono in Giudea fuggano ai monti;
15 And let whoever is on the rooftop not descend to the house, nor enter so as to take anything from the house.	15 chi è sulla terrazza non scenda nè entri in casa per prendere qualche cosa;
16 And let whoever may be in the field not return to take his garment.	16 chi sarà nel campo non torni indietro a prendere la veste.
17 But woe to those who are pregnant or nursing in those days.	17 Guai alle gravide e a quelle che allatteranno in quei giorni!
18 Truly, pray that these things may not happen in winter.	18 E pregate che ciò non avvenga d'inverno;
19 For those days shall have such tribulations as have not been since the beginning of the creation that God founded, even until now, and shall not be.	19 perchè quei giorni saranno di tali tribolazioni quali mai furono da principio del mondo, che Dio ha creato fino ad ora, nè mai più saranno.
20 And unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would be saved. But, for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days.	20 E se il Signore non avesse abbreviato quei giorni non scamperebbe nessun vivente, ma in grazia degli eletti che ha scelti ha accorciato quei giorni.
21 And then, if anyone will have said to you: ‘Behold, here is the Christ. Behold, in that place.’ Do not believe it.	21 Se uno allora vi dirà: Ecco qui il Cristo, eccolo là, non gli credete.
22 For false Christs and false prophets will rise up, and they will present signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if it were possible, even the elect.	22 Perchè sorgeranno dei falsi Cristi e dei falsi profeti che faranno segni e prodigi tali da sedurre, se fosse possibile, anche gli eletti.
23 Therefore, you must take heed. Behold, I have foretold all to you.	23 State dunque attenti, ecco io vi ho predetto tutto.
24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her splendor.	24 Ma in quei giorni, dopo quelle tribolazioni, s'oscurerà il sole e la luna non darà più la sua luce,
25 And the stars of heaven will be falling down, and the powers that are in heaven will be moved.	25 e le stelle cadranno dal cielo e le potenze dei cieli saranno sconvolte.
26 And then they shall see the Son of man arriving on the clouds, with great power and glory.	26 E allora vedranno il Figlio dei l'uomo venir sulle nubi con grande potenza e gloria.
27 And then he will send his Angels, and gather together his elect, from the four winds, from the limits of the earth, to the limits of heaven.	27 E allora manderà gli angeli suoi, e dai quattro venti radunerà i suoi eletti, dall'estremo della terra a quello del cielo.
28 Now from the fig tree discern a parable. When its branch becomes tender and the foliage has been formed, you know that summer is very near.	28 Dal fico imparate il paragone. Quando il ramo si fa tenero e mette le foglie, sapete che l'estate è vicina;
29 So also, when you will have seen these things happen, know that it is very near, even at the doors.	29 Così anche voi, quando vedrete avvenire queste cose, sappiate che egli è vicino alle porte.
30 Amen I say to you, that this lineage shall not pass away, until all these things have happened.	30 La verità vi dico: non passerà questa generazione prima che tutto questo avvenga.
31 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away.	31 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.
32 But concerning that day or hour, no one knows, neither the Angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.	32 In quanto poi a quel giorno e a quell'ora, nessuno li sa, nè gli angeli del cielo, nè il Figlio; ma solo il Padre,
33 Take heed, be vigilant, and pray. For you do not know when the time may be.	33 State attenti, vegliate e pregate, perchè non sapete quando sia quel tempo.
34 It is like a man who, setting out on a sojourn, left behind his house, and gave his servants authority over every work, and instructed the doorkeeper to stand watch.	34 Così un uomo, mettendosi in viaggio, lasciò la casa e ne diede ai servi suoi il governo, a ciascuno il suo ufficio, e al portinaio comandò di vigilare.
35 Therefore, be vigilant, for you do not know when the lord of the house may arrive: in the evening, or in the middle of the night, or at first light, or in the morning.	35 Vigilate voi dunque, perchè non sapete quando sia per venire il padrone di casa, se alla sera o alla mezzanotte o al canto del gallo o alla mattina;
36 Otherwise, when he will have arrived unexpectedly, he may find you sleeping.	36 onde non succeda che, arrivando egli all'improvviso, vi trovi addormentati.
37 But what I say to you, I say to all: Be vigilant.”	37 E ciò che dico a voi lo dico a tutti: vegliate.
