1 “Pay attention, lest you perform your justice before men, in order to be seen by them; otherwise you shall not have a reward with your Father, who is in heaven.	1 «Cuidad de no practicar vuestra justicia delante de los hombres para ser vistos por ellos; de lo contrario no tendréis recompensa de vuestro Padre celestial.
2 Therefore, when you give alms, do not choose to sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the towns, so that they may be honored by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.	2 Por tanto, cuando hagas limosna, no lo vayas trompeteando por delante como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y por las calles, con el fin de ser honrados por los hombres; en verdad os digo que ya reciben su paga.
3 But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,	3 Tú, en cambio, cuando hagas limosna, que no sepa tu mano izquierda lo que hace tu derecha;
4 so that your almsgiving may be in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will repay you.	4 así tu limosna quedará en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.
5 And when you pray, you should not be like the hypocrites, who love standing in the synagogues and at the corners of the streets to pray, so that they may be seen by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward.	5 «Y cuando oréis, no seáis como los hipócritas, que gustan de orar en las sinagogas y en las esquinas de las plazas bien plantados para ser vistos de los hombres; en verdad os digo que ya reciben su paga.
6 But you, when you pray, enter into your room, and having shut the door, pray to your Father in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will repay you.	6 Tú, en cambio, cuando vayas a orar, entra en tu aposento y, después de cerrar la puerta, ora a tu Padre, que está allí, en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.
7 And when praying, do not choose many words, as the pagans do. For they think that by their excess of words they might be heeded.	7 Y al orar, no charléis mucho, como los gentiles, que se figuran que por su palabrería van a ser escuchados.
8 Therefore, do not choose to imitate them. For your Father knows what your needs may be, even before you ask him.	8 No seáis como ellos, porque vuestro Padre sabe lo que necesitáis antes de pedírselo.
9 Therefore, you shall pray in this way: Our Father, who is in heaven: May your name be kept holy.	9 «Vosotros, pues, orad así: Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu Nombre;
10 May your kingdom come. May your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth.	10 venga tu Reino; hágase tu Voluntad así en la tierra como en el cielo.
11 Give us this day our life-sustaining bread.	11 Nuestro pan cotidiano dánosle hoy;
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.	12 y perdónanos nuestras deudas, así como nosotros hemos perdonado a nuestros deudores;
13 And lead us not into temptation. But free us from evil. Amen.	13 y no nos dejes caer en tentación, mas líbranos del mal.
14 For if you will forgive men their sins, your heavenly Father also will forgive you your offenses.	14 «Que si vosotros perdonáis a los hombres sus ofensas, os perdonará también a vosotros vuestro Padre celestial;
15 But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your sins.	15 pero si no perdonáis a los hombres, tampoco vuestro Padre perdonará vuestras ofensas.
16 And when you fast, do not choose to become gloomy, like the hypocrites. For they alter their faces, so that their fasting may be apparent to men. Amen I say to you, that they have received their reward.	16 «Cuando ayunéis, no pongáis cara triste, como los hipócritas, que desfiguran su rostro para que los hombres vean que ayunan; en verdad os digo que ya reciben su paga.
17 But as for you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,	17 Tú, en cambio, cuando ayunes, perfuma tu cabeza y lava tu rostro,
18 so that your fasting will not be apparent to men, but to your Father, who is in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will repay you.	18 para que tu ayuno sea visto, no por los hombres, sino por tu Padre que está allí, en lo secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.
19 Do not choose to store up for yourselves treasures on earth: where rust and moth consume, and where thieves break in and steal.	19 «No os amontonéis tesoros en la tierra, donde hay polilla y herrumbre que corroen, y ladrones que socavan y roban.
20 Instead, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither rust nor moth consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal.	20 Amontonaos más bien tesoros en el cielo, donde no hay polilla ni herrumbre que corroan, ni ladrones que socaven y roben.
21 For where your treasure is, there also is your heart.	21 Porque donde esté tu tesoro, allí estará también tu corazón.
22 The lamp of your body is your eye. If your eye is wholesome, your entire body will be filled with light.	22 «La lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo. Si tu ojo está sano, todo tu cuerpo estará luminoso;
23 But if your eye has been corrupted, your entire body will be darkened. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great will that darkness be!	23 pero si tu ojo está malo, todo tu cuerpo estará a oscuras. Y, si la luz que hay en ti es oscuridad, ¡qué oscuridad habrá!
24 No one is able to serve two masters. For either he will have hatred for the one, and love the other, or he will persevere with the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.	24 Nadie puede servir a dos señores; porque aborrecerá a uno y amará al otro; o bien se entregará a uno y despreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios y al Dinero.
25 And so I say to you, do not be anxious about your life, as to what you will eat, nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?	25 «Por eso os digo: No andéis preocupados por vuestra vida, qué comeréis, ni por vuestro cuerpo, con qué os vestiréis. ¿No vale más la vida que el alimento, y el cuerpo más que el vestido?
26 Consider the birds of the air, how they neither sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of much greater value than they are?	26 Mirad las aves del cielo: no siembran, ni cosechan, ni recogen en graneros; y vuestro Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿No valéis vosotros más que ellas?
27 And which of you, by thinking, is able to add one cubit to his stature?	27 Por lo demás, ¿quién de vosotros puede, por más que se preocupe, añadir un solo codo a la medida de su vida?
28 And as for clothing, why are you anxious? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither work nor weave.	28 Y del vestido, ¿por qué preocuparos? Observad los lirios del campo, cómo crecen; no se fatigan, ni hilan.
29 But I say to you, that not even Solomon, in all his glory, was arrayed like one of these.	29 Pero yo os digo que ni Salomón, en toda su gloria, se vistió como uno de ellos.
30 So if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and cast into the oven tomorrow, how much more will he care for you, O little in faith?	30 Pues si a la hierba del campo, que hoy es y mañana se echa al horno, Dios así la viste, ¿no lo hará mucho más con vosotros, hombres de poca fe?
31 Therefore, do not choose to be anxious, saying: ‘What shall we eat, and what shall we drink, and with what shall we be clothed?’	31 No andéis, pues, preocupados diciendo: ¿Qué vamos a comer?, ¿qué vamos a beber?, ¿con qué vamos a vestirnos?
32 For the Gentiles seek all these things. Yet your Father knows that you need all these things.	32 Que por todas esas cosas se afanan los gentiles; pues ya sabe vuestro Padre celestial que tenéis necesidad de todo eso.
33 Therefore, seek first the kingdom of God and his justice, and all these things shall be added to you as well.	33 Buscad primero su Reino y su justicia, y todas esas cosas se os darán por añadidura.
34 Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow; for the future day will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its evil.”	34 Así que no os preocupéis del mañana: el mañana se preocupará de sí mismo. Cada día tiene bastante con su propio mal.
