1 And it happened that, in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth of the month, when I was in the midst of the captives beside the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw the visions of God.	1 E addivenne nel XXX anno, nel quarto, nel V dì del mese, conciosia cosa ch' io fussi nel mezzo delli prigioni a lato al fiume (che si chiama) Cobar, li cieli s' apersono, e io vidi le visioni di Dio.
2 On the fifth of the month, the same is the fifth year of the transmigration of king Joachin,	2 Nel quinto dì del mese, questo fue l'anno quinto della transmigrazione di Ioachin re di Giuda,
3 the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel, a priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans, next to the river Chebar. And the hand of the Lord was over him there.	3 disse Iddio ad Ezechiel, figliuolo di Buzi, sacerdote nella terra de' Caldei, a lato al fiume (che si chiama) Cobar; e la mano di Dio fue ivi sopra lui.
4 And I saw, and behold, a whirlwind arrived from the north. And a great cloud, wrapped in fire and brightness, was all around it. And from its midst, that is, from the midst of the fire, there was something with the appearance of amber.	4 E io vidi, ed ecco uno vento di turbine veniva d'aquilone, e una nuvola grande e fuoco involgente e splendore nel suo circuito, e del mezzo di lui quasi similitudine di transparente e rilucente, cioè di mezzo del fuoco;
5 And in its midst, there was the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: the likeness of a man was in them.	5 e nel mezzo di lui la similitudine di quattro animali; e questo [aspetto] di loro era similitudine d'uomo in loro.
6 Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings.	6 E uno avea quattro facce, e avea quattro penne.
7 Their feet were straight feet, and the sole of their foot was like the sole of the foot of a calf, and they sparkled with the appearance of glowing brass.	7 E li loro piedi erano diritti, e la pianta dei loro piedi era come pianta [del piede] di vitello, e le faville aveano aspetto di metallo risplendente.
8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on the four sides. And they had faces with the wings on the four sides.	8 E la mano d' uomo era sotto le penne loro in quattro parti; e aveano le faccie e le penne per quattro parti.
9 And their wings were joined to one another. They did not turn as they went. Instead, each one advanced before his face.	9 E le loro penne erano congiunte, quelle dell' uno all' altro; e quando andavano non ritornavano, ma ciascuno andava inanzi alla faccia sua.
10 But as for the likeness of their face, there was the face of a man, and the face of a lion on the right of each of the four, then the face of an ox on the left of each of the four, and the face of an eagle above each of the four.	10 E la similitudine del loro volto era faccia. d' uomo, e la faccia di leone dalla (loro) parte diritta di loro quattro; e dalla parte manca di loro quattro era la faccia di bue, e di sopra a loro quattro era la faccia d'aquila.
11 Their faces and their wings were extended above: two wings of each one were joined together, and two covered their bodies.	11 E le loro facce e le loro penne erano distese sopra; due penne di cadauno di loro si congiungeano, e due copriano li loro corpi.
12 And each one of them advanced before his face. Wherever the impetus of the spirit was to go, there they went. And they did not turn as they advanced.	12 E ciascuno andava dinanzi alla sua faccia; e andavano colà dove era lo impeto dello spirito, e quando andavano non ritornavano.
13 And as for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like that of burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps. This was the vision dashing in the midst of the living creatures, a bright fire, with lightning going forth from the fire.	13 E la similitudine di questi animali e lo loro. aspetto era (similitudine d' animali) quasi come di carboni di fuoco ardenti, e come aspetto di lampade. Questa era la visione discorrente nel mezzo delli animali, isplendore di fuoco, e del fuoco usciva una saetta.
14 And the living creatures went and returned like flashes of lightning.	14 E li animali andavano e ritornavano in similitudine di saetta rilucente.
15 And as I beheld the living creatures, there appeared above the earth, next to the living creatures, one wheel having four faces.	15 E quando io riguardava li animali, apparve una ruota sopra la terra a lato alli animali, la quale avea quattro facce.
16 And the appearance of the wheels and their work was like the appearance of the sea. And each of the four were similar to one another. And their appearance and work was like a wheel in the center of a wheel.	16 E l'aspetto delle ruote e la loro opera sì era quasi come visione di mare; una era la similitudine di quelle quattro ruote; e lo loro aspetto e le loro opere, quasi come la ruota nel mezzo della ruota.
17 Going forth, they went by means of their four parts. And they did not turn as they went.	17 E li andamenti andavano per quattro parti di quelle; e conciosia cosa che andassono, non ritornavano (allo luogo dove declinava quella che prima era, e tutte l' altre seguitavano, e conciosia cosa che andassono, non ritornavano).
18 Also, the size and height and appearance of the wheels was dreadful. And the entire body was full of eyes all around each of the four.	18 E la statura era alle ruote, e l'altezza, e di orribile aspetto; e tutto lo (loro) corpo era pieno d'occhi nel circuito di quelle quattro.
19 And when the living creatures advanced, the wheels advanced together with them. And when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels, too, were lifted up at the same time.	19 E quando andavano li animali, andavano anche le ruote a lato a loro; e quando li animali si levavano di terra, insiememente si levavano le ruote.
20 Wherever the spirit went, as the spirit was going forth to that place, the wheels, too, were lifted up together, so as to follow them. For the spirit of life was in the wheels.	20 Dovunque andava lo spirito, andando colà lo spirito (ritto), e le ruote si levavano, e seguitavano lui; e lo spirito della vita era nelle ruote.
21 When going forth, they went forth, and when standing still, they stood still. And when they were lifted up from the earth, the wheels, too, were lifted up together, so as to follow them. For the spirit of life was in the wheels.	21 Egli andavano colli andanti, e stavano colli stanti; e levavansi di terra con quelli che si levavano, e le ruote seguitavano loro, però che lo spirito della vita era nelle ruote.
22 And above the heads of the living creatures was the likeness of a firmament: similar to crystal, but dreadful to behold, and extending over their heads from above.	22 E la similitudine sopra lo capo delli animali era a modo di firmamento, ed era come aspetto di cristallo orribile, e disteso era sopra lo capo loro di sopra.
23 And their wings were straight under the firmament, one toward the other. One of them was covered by two wings on his body, and the other was covered similarly.	23 E sotto lo firmamento le loro penne erano diritte l'uno all' altro; e ciascuno velava lo suo corpo con due ale, e l' altro similmente si velava.
24 And I heard the sound of their wings, like the sound of many waters, like the sound of the sublime God. When they walked, it was like the sound of a multitude, like the sound of an army. And when they stood still, their wings were let down.	24 E io udiva lo suono dell' ale, come suono di molte acque, ed era quasi suono dell' alto Iddio; e quando andavano, era lo suono come suono di moltitudine, e come suono di gente d' arme; e quando istavano fermi, si lasciavano le loro penne.
25 For when a voice came from above the firmament, which was over their heads, they stood still, and they put down their wings.	25 Ma quando si faceva la voce sopra lo firmamento, lo quale era sopra lo loro capo, istavano e sottometteano le sue ale.
26 And above the firmament, which was suspended over their heads, there was the likeness of a throne, with the appearance of the sapphire stone. And over the likeness of the throne, there was a likeness with the appearance of a man above it.	26 E sopra lo firmamento, il quale era molto elevato sopra i capi loro, era quasi come aspetto di pietra di saffiro la similitudine del trono; e sopra la similitudine del trono quasi come aspetto d' uomo di sopra.
27 And I saw something with the appearance of amber, with the likeness of fire within it and all around it. And from his waist and upward, and from his waist downward, I saw something with the appearance of fire shining all around.	27 E vidi quasi come similitudine di rilucente, e come aspetto di fuoco, dentro per lo circuito suo; da' suoi lombi di sopra, e dalli lombi suoi insino di sotto, vidi come specie di fuoco risplendente nel circuito.
28 There was the appearance of the rainbow, as when it is in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the splendor on every side.	28 Come aspetto d' arco, quando è nel nuvolo nel dì della piova; questo era l'aspetto dello splendore per lo circuito.
