1 Kings 11

1 But king Solomon loved many foreign women, including the daughter of Pharaoh, and women of Moab, and of Ammon, and of Idumea, and of Sidon, and of the Hittites.	1 El rey Salomón amó a muchas mujeres, además de la hija del Faraón: mujeres moabitas, amonitas, edomitas, sidonias e hititas,
2 These were of the nations about whom the Lord said to the sons of Israel: “You shall not enter to them, and none of them shall enter to anyone of yours. For they will most certainly turn aside your hearts, so that you follow their gods.” And yet, to these Solomon was joined with a greatly enflamed love.	2 es decir, de esas naciones de las que el Señor había dicho a los israelitas: «No se unan a ellas, y que ellas no se unan a ustedes; seguramente les desviarán el corazón hacia otros dioses». Pero Salomón se enamoró de ellas.
3 And for him, there were seven hundred wives, as if they were queens, and three hundred concubines. And the women turned aside his heart.	3 Tuvo setecientas mujeres con rango de princesas y trescientas concubinas, y sus mujeres le pervirtieron el corazón.
4 And when now he was old, his heart was perverted by the women, so that he followed strange gods. And his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.	4 Así, en la vejez de Salomón, sus mujeres les desviaron el corazón hacia otros dioses, y su corazón ya no perteneció íntegramente al Señor, su Dios, como el de su padre David.
5 For Solomon worshipped Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, and Milcom, the idol of the Ammonites.	5 Salomón fue detrás de Astarté, la diosa de los sidonios, y detrás de Milcóm, el abominable ídolo de los amonitas.
6 And Solomon did what was not pleasing in the sight of the Lord. And he did not continue to follow the Lord, as his father David did.	6 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, y no siguió plenamente al Señor, como lo había hecho su padre David.
7 Then Solomon built a shrine for Chemosh, the idol of Moab, on the mount that is opposite Jerusalem, and for Milcom, the idol of the sons of Ammon.	7 Fue entonces cuando Salomón erigió, sobre la montaña que está al este de Jerusalén, un lugar alto dedicado a Quemós, el abominable ídolo de Moab, y a Milcóm, el ídolo de los amonitas.
8 And he acted in this manner for all his foreign wives, who were burning incense and immolating to their gods.	8 Y lo mismo hizo para todas sus mujeres extranjeras, que quemaban incienso y ofrecían sacrificios a sus dioses.
9 And so, the Lord became angry with Solomon, because his mind had been turned away from the Lord, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice,	9 El Señor se indignó contra Salomón, porque su corazón se había apartado de él, el Dios de Israel, que se le había aparecido dos veces
10 and who had instructed him about this matter, lest he follow strange gods. But he did not observe what the Lord commanded to him.	10 y le había prohibido ir detrás de otros dioses. Pero Salomón no observó lo que le había mandado el Señor.
11 And so, the Lord said to Solomon: “Because you have this with you, and because you have not kept my covenant and my precepts, which I commanded to you, I will tear apart your kingdom, and I will give it to your servant.	11 Entonces el Señor dijo a Salomón: «Porque has obrado así y no has observado mi alianza ni los preceptos que yo te prescribí, voy a arrancarte el reino y se lo daré a uno de tus servidores.
12 Yet truly, I will not do it in your days, for the sake of your father David. From the hand of your son, I will tear it away.	12 Sin embargo, no lo haré mientras tú vivas, por consideración a tu padre David: se lo arrancaré de las manos a tu hijo.
13 Neither will I take away the whole kingdom. Instead, I will grant one tribe to your son, for the sake of David, my servant, and Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”	13 Pero no le arrancaré todo el reino, sino que le daré a tu hijo una tribu, por consideración a mi servidor David y a Jerusalén, la que yo elegí».
14 Then the Lord raised up an adversary to Solomon, Hadad of Idumea, from an offspring of the king who was in Idumea.	14 El Señor le suscitó a Salomón un adversario: Hadad, el edomita, de la estirpe real de Edom.
15 For when David was in Idumea, Joab, the leader of the military, had ascended to bury those who had been killed, and he had killed every male in Idumea.	15 En efecto, después que David derrotó a Edom, Joab, el general del ejército, al subir para enterrar a sus víctimas, ultimó a todos los varones de Edom.
16 And Joab remained in that place for six months, with all of Israel, until he had put to death every male in Idumea.	16 Porque Joab se quedó allí seis meses, con todo Israel, hasta acabar con todos los varones de Edom.
17 Then Hadad fled, he and some men of Idumea from among the servants of his father with him, so that he might enter into Egypt. But Hadad was then a little boy.	17 Pero Hadad, que entonces era muy joven, logró huir con algunos edomitas servidores de su padre, para ir a Egipto.
18 And when they had risen up from Midian, they went into Paran, and they took with them some men from Paran. And they went into Egypt, to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. And he gave him a house, and he appointed food for him, and he assigned land to him.	18 Partieron de Madián y llegaron a Parán, donde se les agregaron algunos hombres de Parán. Luego entraron en Egipto y se presentaron ante el Faraón, rey de Egipto, que dio a Hadad una casa, le aseguró el sustento y le concedió tierras.
19 And Hadad found great favor before Pharaoh, so much so that he gave to him as wife, the sister of his own wife, queen Tahpenes.	19 Hadad se ganó a tal punto el favor del Faraón, que este le dio por esposa a su cuñada, la hermana de Tajfenés, la reina madre.
20 And the sister of Tahpenes bore to him a son, Genubath. And Tahpenes raised him in the house of Pharaoh. And Genubath was living with Pharaoh and his sons.	20 La hermana de Tajfenés le dio un hijo, llamado Guenubat, al que Tajfenés crió en la casa del Faraón. Así Guenubat permaneció en la casa del Faraón, entre los hijos de este.
21 And when Hadad had heard in Egypt that David had slept with his fathers, and that Joab, the leader of the military, had died, he said to Pharaoh, “Release me, so that I may go to my own land.”	21 Pero cuando Hadad se enteró en Egipto de que David se había ido a descansar con sus padres, y que también había muerto Joab, el general del ejército, dijo al Faraón: «Déjame ir a mi país».
22 And Pharaoh said to him, “But what is lacking to you with me, so that you would seek to go to your own land?” But he responded: “Nothing. Yet I beg you that you may release me.”	22 El Faraón le respondió: «¿Qué te falta junto a mí para que ahora trates de ir a tu país?». «Nada, dijo él, pero déjame partir».
23 Also, God raised up against him an adversary, Rezon, the son of Eliada, who had fled from his lord, Hadad-Ezer, the king of Zobah.	23 Dios le suscitó además a Salomón otro adversario: Rezón, hijo de Eliadá. El había huido de Hadadézer, rey de Sobá, su señor;
24 And he gathered together men against him. And when David put those of Zobah to death, he became a leader of robbers. And they went away to Damascus, and they lived there. And they appointed him to be king of Damascus.	24 Había agrupado a unos cuantos hombres en torno de él y se había convertido en jefe de una banda. Como David los perseguía a muerte, fue a establecerse en Damasco, y allí reinó.
25 And he was an adversary to Israel during all the days of Solomon. And such is the evil of Hadad and of his hatred against Israel. And he reigned in Syria.
26 Also, there was Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, an Ephraimite from Zeredah, a servant of Solomon, whose mother was named Zeruah, a widowed woman. He lifted up his hand against the king.	26 Jeroboam, hijo de Nebat, el efraimita, natural de Seredá –cuya madre, una viuda, se llamaba Seruá– estaba al servicio de Salomón y se sublevó contra él.
27 And this is the reason for his rebellion against him: that Solomon built up Millo, and that he filled in a deep hole in the city of David, his father.	27 La ocasión en que se sublevó contra el rey fue la siguiente: Salomón estaba construyendo el Terraplén y cubría el desnivel que había en la Ciudad de David, su padre.
28 Now Jeroboam was a valiant and powerful man. And perceiving the young man to be ingenious and industrious, Solomon appointed him as first ruler over the tributes of the entire house of Joseph.	28 Jeroboam era un hombre de gran valía, y Salomón, al ver cómo el joven ejecutaba la obra, lo puso al frente de los servicios que debía prestar la casa de José.
29 And it happened, in that time, that Jeroboam departed from Jerusalem. And the prophet Ahijah, the Shilonite, wearing with a new cloak, found him on the way. And the two were alone in the field.	29 En cierta ocasión, Jeroboam salió de Jerusalén y lo encontró en el camino el profeta Ajías, de Silo; este iba cubierto con un manto nuevo, y los dos estaban solos en el campo.
30 And taking his new cloak, with which he was covered, Ahijah tore it into twelve parts.	30 Ajías tomó el manto que llevaba encima y lo desgarró en doce pedazos.
31 And he said to Jeroboam: “Take ten pieces for yourself. For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: ‘Behold, I will tear the kingdom from the hand of Solomon, and I will give to you ten tribes.	31 Luego dijo a Jeroboam: «Toma para di diez pedazos, porque sí habla el Señor, el Dios de Israel: Yo voy a desgarrar el reino que Salomón tiene en su mano, y te daré las diez tribus.
32 Yet one tribe shall remain with him, for the sake of my servant, David, as well as Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel.	32 Una sola tribu será para él, por consideración a mi servidor David y a Jerusalén, la ciudad que yo elegí entre todas las tribus de Israel.
33 For he has abandoned me, and he has adored Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, and Chemosh, the god of Moab, and Milcom, the god of the sons of Ammon. And he has not walked in my ways, so that he would do justice before me, and so that he would carry out my precepts and judgments, as his father David did.	33 Porque él me abandonó y se postró delante de Astarté, la diosa de los sidonios, delante de Quemós, el dios de Moab, y delante de Milcóm, el dios de los amonitas, y porque no siguió mis caminos haciendo lo que es recto a mis ojos y practicando mis preceptos y mis leyes como su padre David.
34 But I will not take the entire kingdom from his hand. Instead, I will establish him as the ruler during all the days of his life, for the sake of my servant David, whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my precepts.	34 Pero no le quitaré el reino de su mano, sino que lo mantendré como jefe todos los días de su vida, por consideración a mi servidor David, a quien elegí y que observó mis mandamientos y preceptos;
35 But I will take away the kingdom from the hand of his son, and I will give to you ten tribes.	35 quitaré el reino de manos de su hijo y te lo daré a ti. A ti te daré diez tribus
36 Then, to his son, I will give one tribe, so that there may remain a lamp for my servant David before me, for all days, in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen, so that my name would be there.	36 y a su hijo una sola, a fin de que mi servidor David tenga siempre una lámpara ante mí en Jerusalén, la ciudad que yo me elegí para poner mi Nombre en ella.
37 And I will take you up, and you shall reign over all that your soul desires. And you shall be king over Israel.	37 En cuanto a ti, yo te constituiré, tú reinarás conforme a tus deseos y serás rey de Israel.
38 Therefore, if you will listen to all that I will command you, and if you will walk in my ways, and do what is right in my sight, keeping my commandments and my precepts, just as my servant David did, then I will be with you, and I will build for you a faithful house, in the way that I built a house for David, and I will deliver Israel to you.	38 Si obedeces en todo lo que yo te ordene y sigues mis caminos, si haces lo que es recto a mis ojos, observando mis preceptos y mis mandamientos, como lo hizo mi servidor David, yo estaré contigo y te edificaré una dinastía estable, como la edifiqué para David. Te entregaré a Israel
39 And I will afflict the offspring of David over this, but truly not for all days.’ ”	39 y humillaré a la estirpe de David a causa de esto, aunque no para siempre».
40 Therefore, Solomon wanted to kill Jeroboam. But he rose up and fled away to Egypt, to Shishak, the king of Egypt. And he was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.	40 Salomón trató de dar muerte a Jeroboam, pero este huyó y se refugió en Egipto, junto a Sisac, rey de Egipto, donde permaneció hasta la muerte de Salomón.
41 Now the rest of the words of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom: behold, these are all written in the book of the words of the days of Solomon.	41 El resto de los hechos de Salomón y todo lo que él hizo, lo mismo que su sabiduría, ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de Salomón?
42 And the days that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem, over all of Israel, were forty years.	42 Salomón reinó sobre todo Israel durante cuarenta años.
43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David, his father. And Rehoboam, his son, reigned in his place.	43 Luego se fue a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la Ciudad de David, su padre. Su hijo Roboam reinó en lugar de él.
