Deuteronomy 15

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 'At the end of every seven years, you must grant remission.	1 Al termine di sette anni farai il condono.
2 The nature of the remission is as fol ows: any creditor holding a personal pledge obtained from hisfel ow must release him from it; he must not exploit his fel ow or his brother once the latter has appealed toYahweh for remission.	2 In questo consiste il condono: chiunque detiene un pegno, condonerà ciò per cui ha ottenuto il pegno dal suo prossimo; non avrà pretese sul suo prossimo né sul suo fratello, poiché è stato proclamato il condono davanti al Signore.
3 A foreigner you may exploit, but you must remit whatever claim you have on your brother.	3 Avanzerai pretese sullo straniero, ma al fratello condonerai quanto di suo avrai presso di te.
4 There must, then, be no poor among you. For Yahweh wil grant you his blessing in the country whichYahweh your God is giving you to possess as your heritage,	4 Del resto non ci sarà presso di te alcun povero, poiché il Signore certo ti benedirà nella terra che il Signore tuo Dio ti dona in eredità perché tu la possieda,
5 only if you pay careful attention to the voice of Yahweh your God, by keeping and practising al thesecommandments which I am enjoining on you today.	5 se però ascolterai attentamente la voce del Signore tuo Dio, osservando e praticando tutti gli ordini che oggi ti prescrivo.
6 If Yahweh your God blesses you as he has promised, you wil be creditors to many nations butdebtors to none; you wil rule over many nations, and be ruled by none.	6 Quando il Signore tuo Dio ti benedirà, come ti ha detto, farai prestito a molte nazioni, ma tu non chiederai prestiti; dominerai molte nazioni, ma su di te esse non domineranno.
7 'Is there anyone poor among you, one of your brothers, in any town of yours in the country whichYahweh your God is giving you? Do not harden your heart or close your hand against that poor brother of yours,	7 Se vi sarà presso di te un povero, uno dei tuoi fratelli in una delle tue città, nella terra che il Signore tuo Dio ti dona, non indurirai il tuo cuore e non chiuderai la tua mano al tuo fratello povero,
8 but be open handed with him and lend him enough for his needs.	8 ma gli aprirai la mano, gli presterai generosamente quanto gli manca, per il bisogno in cui si trova.
9 Do not allow this mean thought in your heart, "The seventh year, the year of remission, is near," andscowl at your poor brother and give him nothing; he could appeal against you to Yahweh, and you would incurguilt!	9 Bada a te, che non ci sia nel tuo cuore questo cattivo disegno: "E' vicino il settimo anno, l'anno del condono", e il tuo occhio non sia cattivo verso il tuo fratello povero e tu non gli dia nulla; egli griderebbe al Signore contro di te e ci sarebbe su di te peccato.
10 When you give to him, you must give with an open heart; for this, Yahweh your God wil bless you inal your actions and in al your undertakings.	10 Da' generosamente a lui e il tuo cuore non sia cattivo mentre doni; infatti il Signore tuo Dio per questo ti benedirà in ogni tua opera e in ogni impresa delle tue mani.
11 Of course, there wil never cease to be poor people in the country, and that is why I am giving youthis command: Always be open handed with your brother, and with anyone in your country who is in need andpoor.	11 Poiché non mancheranno mai i poveri del paese, io ti prescrivo: "Apri generosamente la mano a tuo fratello, all'afflitto e al povero nella tua terra".
12 'If your fel ow Hebrew, man or woman, sells himself to you, he can serve you for six years. In theseventh year you must set him free,	12 Se si vende a te un tuo fratello, ebreo o ebrea, ti servirà per sei anni; ma al settimo anno lo manderai via libero da te;
13 and in setting him free you must not let him go empty handed.	13 e quando lo manderai via libero da te, non rimandarlo a mani vuote,
14 By way of present, you will load his shoulders with things from your flock, from your threshing-floorand from your winepress; as Yahweh your God has blessed you, so you must give to him.	14 ma caricalo di doni del tuo gregge, della tua aia e del tuo torchio; nella misura in cui il Signore tuo Dio ti ha benedetto, darai a lui.
15 Remember that you were once a slave in Egypt and that Yahweh your God redeemed you; that iswhy I am giving you this order today.	15 Ricordati che tu fosti schiavo nella terra d'Egitto e che il Signore tuo Dio ti ha liberato; perciò oggi ti prescrivo questo.
16 'But if he says to you, "I do not want to leave you," because he loves you and your household and ishappy with you,	16 Ma se ti dice: "Non andrò via da te", perché ama te, la tua casa e perché si trova bene con te,
17 you must take an awl and drive it through his ear into the door and he will be your servant for ever.You must do the same to a female slave.	17 allora prenderai un punteruolo e gli forerai l'orecchio contro la porta; così ti sarà schiavo per sempre. Anche verso la tua serva farai così.
18 'Do not think it hard on you to have to give him his freedom; he is worth twice what a paid servantwould cost you, and has served you for six years. And Yahweh your God wil bless you in everything you do.	18 Non ti rincresca di mandarlo via libero da te, perché per un valore doppio del salario di uno stipendiato ti ha servito per sei anni. Il Signore ti benedirà in ogni cosa che farai.
19 'You must consecrate every first-born male from your herd and flock to Yahweh your God. You mustnot put the first-born of your herd to work, or shear the first-born of your flock.	19 Ogni primogenito maschio che nascerà dal tuo bestiame grosso e dal tuo bestiame minuto lo consacrerai al Signore tuo Dio. Non farai lavorare il primogenito del tuo bestiame grosso né toserai il primogenito del tuo bestiame minuto:
20 You must eat it, you and your household, each year, in the presence of Yahweh your God, in theplace which Yahweh chooses.	20 lo mangerai, tu e la tua casa, al cospetto del Signore tuo Dio anno per anno, nel luogo che il Signore sceglierà.
21 If it has any defect, if it is lame or blind -- any serious defect -- you must not sacrifice it to Yahwehyour God.	21 Ma se ha qualche difetto, se è zoppo, cieco, o se ha qualche altra imperfezione, non lo sacrificherai al Signore tuo Dio:
22 You wil eat it at home, unclean and clean together, as you would gazel e or deer;	22 lo mangerai dentro le tue porte, l'impuro e il puro assieme, come se fosse una gazzella o un cervo;
23 only, you will not eat its blood, but pour that like water on the ground.'	23 soltanto il sangue non mangerai, lo verserai a terra come l'acqua.
