1 These were the descendants of Aaron and Moses, at the time when Yahweh spoke to Moses onMount Sinai.	1 Queste sono le generazioni di Aaron e di Moisè, che si trovarono quando Iddio parlò a Moisè nel monte Sinai.
2 These were the names of Aaron's sons: Nadab the eldest, then Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.	2 E questi sono i nomi de' figliuoli di Aaron: lo primogenito fu Nadab; e dopo questo, Abiu, Elea zar, Itamar.
3 Such were the names of Aaron's sons, priests anointed and invested with the powers of thepriesthood.	3 E questi sono i nomi de' figliuoli d'Aaron sacerdoti, li quali furono unti, e consecrate le mani, acciò che facessero lo sacrificio.
4 Nadab and Abihu died in Yahweh's presence, in the desert of Sinai, when they offered unauthorisedfire before Yahweh. They left no children and so it fel to Eleazar and Ithamar to exercise the priesthood undertheir father Aaron.	4 E morirono Nadab e Abiu, quando offereano lo fuoco d'altrui a Dio nel diserto di Sinai; e mo rirono senza figliuoli. E fecero l'officio loro Eleazar e Itamar in presenza del padre.
5 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	5 Parlò Iddio a Moisè, e dissegli:
6 'Muster the tribe of Levi and put it at the disposal of the priest Aaron: they must be at his service.	6 Congiugni insieme la schiatta di Levi, e fagli stare nel cospetto d'Aaron sacerdote, acciò che il servano, e che giacciano, (e stiano)
7 They wil undertake the duties incumbent on him and the whole community before the Tent of Meeting,in serving the Dwel ing,	7 e facciano ciò che appartiene all'officio del tabernacolo,
8 and they will be in charge of al the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting and undertake the dutiesincumbent on the Israelites in serving the Dwel ing.	8 e custodiscano li vasi del tabernacolo, servendo nello suo ministerio.
9 You wil present the Levites to Aaron and his sons as men dedicated; they wil be given to him by theIsraelites.	9 E darai lo dono a' figliuoli di Levi,
10 'You will register Aaron and his sons, who wil carry out their priestly duty. But any unauthorisedperson who comes near must be put to death.'	10 e Aaron, dei quali ti sono dati da' figliuoli d'Israel; ed Aaron e i figliuoli ordinerai nelli uffici sacerdotali; e se niuno altro istrano andasse a mini strare l'officio, incontanente morrà.
11 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:	11 Parlò Iddio a Moisè, e disse:
12 'Look, I myself have chosen the Levites from the Israelites instead of all the first-born, those whoemerge first from the womb in Israel; the Levites therefore belong to me.	12 Io tolsi quelli di Levi dagli altri figliuoli d'Israel, per tutti i primigeniti che sono nati infra i figliuoli d'Israel; e saranno i Leviti miei.
13 For every first-born belongs to me. On the day when I struck down al the first-born in Egypt, Iconsecrated al the first-born in Israel, human and animal, to be my own. They are mine, Yahweh's.'	13 Perciò che tutti i primigeniti sono miei, dopo ch' io percossi i primigeniti della terra d'Egitto, (per liberarli delle loro mani). Io m' hoe santificato (cioè preso per primizia) tutto ciò che nasce in prima, dall'uomo insino al bestiame, (d'ogni generazione); però ch' io sono il loro Iddio.
14 Yahweh spoke to Moses in the desert of Sinai and said:	14 Parlò Iddio a Moisè, e dissegli nel deserto di Sinai:
15 'You must take a census of Levi's descendants by families and clans; al the males of the age of onemonth and over wil be counted.'	15 Annumera i figliuoli di Levi per famiglie e per case e per ogni congregazione mascolina, da uno mese in su.
16 At Yahweh's word Moses took a census of them, as Yahweh had ordered.	16 E annumerogli Moisè, come Iddio comandò.
17 These were the names of Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.	17 E trovogli per nome, cioè di Gerson, Caat e Merari.
18 These were the names of Gershon's sons by their clans: Libni and Shimei;	18 Li figliuoli di Gerson: Lebni e Semei.
19 Kohath's sons by their clans: Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel;	19 Li figliuoli di Caat: Amram e Iesaar, Ebron e Oziel.
20 Merari's sons by their clans: Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of Levi, grouped by families.	20 Li figliuoli di Merari: Mooli e Musi.
21 From Gershon were descended the Libnite and Shimeite clans; these were the Gershonite clans.	21 Di Gerson furono due famiglie, la Lebnitica e la Semeitica.
22 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to seven thousand five hundred.	22 Delle quali sono annumerati i maschii, d'uno mese in su, VII milia e cinquecento.
23 The Gershonite clans pitched their camp behind the Dwelling, on the west side.	23 Questi abitaranno dietro al tabernacolo dalla parte d'occidente.
24 The leader of the House of Gershon was Eliasaph son of Lael.	24 Loro principe sarà Eliasaf figliuolo di Lael.
25 As regards the Tent of Meeting, the Gershonites had charge of the Dwel ing, the Tent and itscovering, the screen for the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,	25 E avranno guardia del tabernacolo santo,
26 the curtaining of the court, the screen for the entrance to the court surrounding the Dwel ing and thealtar, and the cords required in dealing with al this.	26 e lo tabernacolo suo, e lo suo coprimento, e lo tetto ch' è innanzi alla porta del tabernacolo e della cortina d'intorno, e la tenda che si pone (e la cortina) nello entrare del tabernacolo, e ciò che s'appartiene nello adornamento (del luogo) dell' altare, e le funi del tabernacolo, e tutto ciò che dentro vi s'usa.
27 From Kohath were descended the Amramite, Izharite, Hebronite and Uzzielite clans; these were theKohathite clans.	27 La schiatta di Caat avrà seco lo popolo di Amramiti e di Iesaariti e di Ebroniti e di Ozieliti. Queste sono le famiglie di Caatiti, annumerati (e trovati) per li nomi suoi;
28 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to eight thousand three hundred.They were in charge of the sanctuary.	28 tutti maschi da uno mese in su, otto migliaia secento.
29 The Kohathite clans pitched their camp on the south side of the Dwel ing.	29 Costoro abitaranno dalla parte del mezzo giorno del tabernacolo.
30 The leader of the house of the Kohathite clans was Elizaphan son of Uzziel.	30 E loro principe sarà Elisafan figliuolo di Oziel.
31 They were in charge of the ark, the table, the lamp-stand, the altars, the sacred vessels used in theliturgy, and the curtain with al its fittings.	31 E guarderanno l'arca e la mensa e lo candeliere e gli altri vasi dello sacrificio, e ogni cosa con che s'amministra, e il velo, e tutte cotali cose.
32 The chief of the Levite leaders was Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest. He supervised the peopleresponsible for the sanctuary.	32 Lo principe de principi de’ Leviti sarà Eleazar, figliuolo di Aaron sacerdote; ed egli sarà sopra le guardie del tabernacolo.
33 From Merari were descended the Mahlite and Mushite clans; these were the Merarite clans.	33 E la schiatta di Merari saranno col popolo de' Mooliti e de' Musiti; e annumerati per li loro nomi,
34 Their ful number, counting the males of one month and over, came to six thousand two hundred.	34 e i loro maschi, da uno mese in su, furono sei migliaia e CC.
35 The leader of the House of the Merarite clans was Zuriel, son of Abihail. They pitched their camp onthe north side of the Dwel ing.	35 E il loro principe sarà Suriel figliuolo di Abiaiel; costoro abiteranno dalla parte di settentrione.
36 The Merarites were in charge of the framework of the Dwelling, with its crossbars, poles, sockets andal its accessories and fittings,	36 E guarderanno le tavole del tabernacolo e le stanghe e le colonne e li capitelli e le cornici, e tutto quello che a questo s'appartiene,
37 and also the poles round the court, with their sockets, pegs and cords.	37 e le colonne dell' atrio, con tutte le cornici (e li capitelli) e le cavicchie e le funi.
38 Final y, on the east side, in front of the Dwel ing, in front of the Tent of Meeting, towards the east, wasthe camp of Moses and Aaron and his sons, who had charge of the sanctuary on behalf of the Israelites. Anyunauthorised person coming near was to be put to death.	38 Poseranno innanzi allo tabernacolo, dalla parte d'oriente; Moisè e Aaron colli suoi figliuoli avranno guardia del santuario nel mezzo del popolo d'Israel; e se alcuno altro entrasse, incontanente morrebbe.
39 The total number of male Levites of the age of one month and over, whom Moses counted by clansas Yahweh had ordered, came to twenty-two thousand.	39 E tutti quelli che annumerò Moisè e Aaron della schiatta di Levi, secondo lo comandamento di Dio, che maschio fosse, da uno mese in su, [furono] XXII milia.
40 Yahweh said to Moses: 'Take a census of al the first-born of the Israelites, al the males from the ageof one month and over; take a census of them by name.	40 E disse Iddio a Moisè: annumera tutti i primigeniti maschi, da uno mese in su, de' figliuoli d'Israel; e sappia la somma quanti sono.
41 You will then present the Levites to me, Yahweh, instead of Israel, and similarly the Levites' cattleinstead of the first-born cattle of the Israelites.'	41 E quelli de Levi torra' per me, (però ch' io gli voglio) per ogni primogenito de' figliuoli d'Israel. E io sono Iddio. E le loro pecore voglio per lo pri mogenito delle pecore de' figliuoli d'Israel.
42 As Yahweh ordered, Moses took a census of al the first-born of the Israelites.	42 Annumerogli Moisè, secondo che Iddio gli disse.
43 The total count, by name, of the first-born from the age of one month and over came to twenty-twothousand two hundred and seventy-three.	43 E trovò tutti i maschii, da uno mese in su, XXII milia e ccLXXIII.
44 Yahweh then spoke to Moses and said:	44 Parlò Iddio a Moisè, e dissegli:
45 'Take the Levites instead of al the first-born of the Israelites, and the Levites' cattle instead of theircattle; the Levites will be mine, Yahweh's.	45 Togli il popolo di Levi per li primigeniti del popolo d'Israel, e le loro pecore per le loro pecore; e i Leviti saranno miei; e io sarò Iddio loro (se loro osserveranno i miei comandamenti).
46 For the ransom of the two hundred and seventy-three first-born of the Israelites in excess of thenumber of Levites,	46 Per prezzo di quelli ccLxxIII, che furono più nel popolo d'Israel, che non sono i Leviti,
47 you wil take five shekels for each, by the sanctuary shekel, at twenty gerah to the shekel;	47 torrai cinque sicli (cioè moneta) per ciascheduna persona, a misura del santuario; e ogni siclo vale XX oboli (ciò sono loro denari).
48 you wil then give this money to Aaron and his sons as the ransom for the extra number.'	48 E questa pecunia darai ad Aaron e a' suoi figliuoli, per lo prezzo di coloro che sono più.
49 Moses took the ransom money for the extra ones unransomed by the Levites;	49 Tolse adunque Moisè la pecunia di quelli che furono più, e quelli che furono redenti dai Leviti
50 he took the money for the first-born of the Israelites: one thousand three hundred and sixty-fiveshekels, by the sanctuary shekel;	50 [ per li ] primogenti de' figliuoli d'Israel, McccLxv sicli, secondo il peso del santuario.
51 and Moses then handed over their ransom money to Aaron and his sons, at Yahweh's bidding, asYahweh had ordered Moses.	51 E diedegli ad Aaron e a' suoi figliuoli, secondo che Iddio comandò.
