Jeremiah 50

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The word that Yahweh spoke against Babylon, against the country of the Chaldaeans, through theprophet Jeremiah.	1 Palabra que el Señor dirigió a Babilonia, al país de los caldeos, por medio del profeta Jeremías:
2 Announce it to the nations, proclaim it, hoist a signal and proclaim it, making no secret of it, say,'Babylon is captured, Bel disgraced, Marduk shattered. (Her idols are disgraced, her Obscenities shattered.)'	2 ¡Anúncienlo entre las naciones, proclámenlo, no lo oculten! Digan: ¡Bel se ha cubierto de vergüenza! ¡Marduc ha sido destrozado! ¡Sus estatuas han sido humilladas, están destrozados sus ídolos!
3 For a nation is marching on her from the north, to turn her country into a desert: no one will live thereany more; human and animal have fled and gone.	3 Porque del Norte sube una nación contra ella: dejará su tierra devastada y no habrá más habitantes; tanto los hombres como los animales han emigrado, se han ido.
4 In those days and at that time the people of Israel will return (they and the people of Judah); they wilcome weeping in search of Yahweh their God.	4 En aquellos días y en aquel tiempo –oráculo del Señor– vendrán los hijos de Israel, junto con los hijos de Judá; irán llorando mientras caminan y buscarán al Señor, su Dios.
5 They will ask the way to Zion and turn their faces towards her, 'Come, let us bind ourselves to Yahwehby an everlasting covenant never to be forgotten!'	5 Preguntarán por el camino de Sión, con el rostro vuelto hacia ella: «¡Vengan, unámonos al Señor en una alianza eterna, inolvidable!».
6 Lost sheep, such were my people; their shepherds led them astray, the mountains misled them; frommountain to hil they went, forgetful of their fold.	6 Ovejas perdidas, eso era mi pueblo: sus pastores las extraviaban, las hacían rondar por las montañas; iban de montaña en colina, olvidándose de su redil.
7 Whoever came across them devoured them, their enemies said, 'We are not to blame, since they havesinned against Yahweh, the Home of Justice, against Yahweh, the Hope of their ancestors.'	7 El que las encontraba, las devoraba, sus adversarios decían: «No somos culpables, porque ellos pecaron contra el Señor, morada de justicia, esperanza de sus padres».
8 Escape from Babylon, leave the country of the Chaldaeans. Be like he-goats, leading the sheep!	8 ¡Emigren de en medio de Babel, salgan del país de los caldeos! Sean como los machos cabríos a la cabeza del rebaño.
9 For look, I shall raise a league of mighty nations to attack Babylon, from the land of the north. They wiltake up position against her; by them she wil be taken. Their arrows, like an experienced soldier's, never returnin vain.	9 Porque yo suscito y hago subir contra Babilonia una asamblea de grandes naciones del Norte, que se alinearán contra ella, y así será conquistada. Sus flechas son como las de un hábil guerrero que nunca vuelve con las manos vacías.
10 Chaldaea wil be plundered, al her plunderers wil be satisfied, Yahweh declares.	10 Caldea será saqueada, y todos sus saqueadores se saciarán –oráculo del Señor–.
11 Rejoice! Have your triumph, you plunderers of my heritage! Be playful like a heifer let out to grass!Neigh like stallions!	11 ¡Sí, alégrense, diviértanse, expoliadores como una ternera en el pasto, relinchen como padrillos!
12 But your mother is covered with shame, disgraced is the woman who bore you; she is the least ofnations now; a desert, a parched land, a wasteland.	12 La madre de ustedes ha sido humillada, está confundida la que los dio a luz. ahora es la última de las naciones, un desierto, un páramo, una estepa.
13 Because of Yahweh's anger, no one wil live there any more, she wil become a total solitude. All whopass by Babylon wil be appal ed and whistle at the sight of al her wounds.	13 A causa de la irritación del Señor, no será más habitada, toda ella será una desolación. El que pase por Babilonia quedará pasmado y silbará de estupor al ver todas sus heridas.
14 Take position against Babylon, surround her, al you who bend the bow. Shoot at her! Do not spareyour arrows, for she has sinned against Yahweh!	14 ¡Formen fila alrededor de Babilonia, todos ustedes, los que tensan el arco; disparen contra ella, no ahorren las flechas, porque ha pecado contra el Señor!
15 Raise the war cry against her from all sides. She surrenders! Her bastions fal ! Her wal s collapse!This is Yahweh's vengeance! Take revenge on her. Treat her as she has treated others.	15 ¡Lancen alaridos a su alrededor! Ella se rinde, caen sus bastiones, se derrumban sus murallas. ¡Esta es la venganza del Señor! ¡Vénguense de ella, háganle lo mismo que ella hizo
16 Deprive Babylon of the man who sows, of the man who wields the sickle at harvest. Away from thedevastating sword, let everyone return to his own people, let everyone flee to his own country!	16 Supriman de Babilonia al sembrador, y al que empuña la hoz en el tiempo de la cosecha. Ante la espada destructora, cada uno se vuelve hacia su pueblo, cada uno huye a su país.
17 Israel was a straying sheep pursued by lions. First, the king of Assyria devoured him, and latterlyNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon crunched his bones.	17 Israel era una oveja descarriada, ahuyentada por los leones. Primero la devoró el rey de Asiria, y ahora, últimamente, le quebró los huesos Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia.
18 So Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Look, I shall punish the king of Babylon and his countryas I punished the king of Assyria.	18 Por eso, así habla el Señor de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: Voy a pedir cuenta al rey de Babilonia y a su país, como le pedí cuenta al rey de Asiria.
19 I wil bring Israel back to his pastures to browse on Carmel and in Bashan, on the highlands ofEphraim and in Gilead, and he wil be satisfied.	19 Haré volver a Israel a su pastizal, para que paste en el Carmelo y en Basán y se sacie en la montaña de Efraím y Galaad.
20 In those days and at that time, Yahweh declares, you may look for Israel's guilt, it will not be there, forJudah's sins, you wil not find them, for I shal pardon the remnant that I leave.	20 En aquellos días y en aquel tiempo –oráculo del Señor– se buscará la iniquidad de Israel, y habrá desaparecido, los pecados de Judá, y no se encontrarán, porque yo perdonaré a los que deje con vida.
21 March on the country of Merathaim, march on it and on the inhabitants of Pekod; slaughter and cursewith destruction every last one of them, Yahweh declares, carry out my orders to the letter!	21 ¡Sube al país de Merataim, sube contra él y contra los habitantes de Pecod! ¡Masacra y consagra al exterminio lo que queda de él –oráculo del Señor– y obra como yo te ordené!
22 The din of battle fil s the country, immense destruction.	22 ¡Hay ruido de guerra en el país y un desastre total!
23 How utterly shattered that hammer of the whole world! What a thing of horror Babylon has becomethroughout the nations!	23 ¡Cómo fue abatido y se hizo pedazos el martillo de toda la tierra! ¡Cómo ha quedado desolada Babilonia entre las naciones!
24 I set a snare for you, Babylon; you were caught before you knew it. You have been found andoverpowered for having defied Yahweh.	24 Te puse una trampa y quedaste atrapada, sin darte cuenta, Babilonia. Has sido sorprendida y tomada, porque habías provocado al Señor.
25 Yahweh has opened his armoury and taken out the weapons of his fury. For Lord Yahweh Sabaothhas work to do in the country of the Chaldaeans.	25 El Señor abrió su arsenal y extrajo las armas de su furor, porque el Señor de los ejércitos tiene una tarea en el país de los caldeos.
26 Fal on her from every side, open her granaries, pile her in heaps, curse her with destruction, untilnothing is left of her.	26 Vengan aquí todos, sin excepción, abran sus graneros, amontónenla como gavillas, conságrenla al exterminio: ¡que no quede nada!
27 Slaughter al her bulls, down to the slaughterhouse with them! Disaster on them, their day has come,their time for being punished.	27 Masacren todos sus bueyes, que bajen al matadero. ¡Ay de ellos, porque les ha llegado el día, el tiempo de dar cuenta!
28 Listen! Fugitives and runaways from the country of Babylon arrive in Zion and proclaim the revenge ofYahweh our God, revenge for his Temple!	28 ¡Oigan! Fugitivos y prófugos de Babel vienen a anunciar en Sión la venganza del Señor, nuestro Dios, la venganza de su Templo.
29 Call up the archers against Babylon! Al you who bend the bow, invest her on al sides, leave her noway of escape. Repay her as her deeds deserve; treat her as she has treated others, for she was arrogant toYahweh, to the Holy One of Israel.	29 Convoquen a los arqueros contra Babel, a todos los que tensan el arco; acampen contra ella, a su alrededor, que no escape ni uno solo. ¡Retribúyanle conforme a sus obras, trátenla según lo que ella hizo, porque ha sido arrogante con el Señor, con el Santo de Israel!
30 And so in her squares her young men wil fall, and all her fighting men wil perish, that day, Yahwehdeclares.	30 Por eso caerán sus jóvenes en las plazas y todos sus hombres de guerra perecerán en aquel día –oráculo del Señor–.
31 My quarrel is with you, 'Arrogance!' Lord Yahweh Sabaoth declares, your day has come, the time forme to punish you.	31 Aquí estoy contra ti, Arrogante, –oráculo del Señor de los ejércitos– porque ha llegado tu día, el tiempo en que tendrás que dar cuenta.
32 'Arrogance' wil stumble, she will fal , no one wil lift her up: I shal set fire to her towns and it wildevour all around it.	32 Entonces tropezará y caerá la Arrogante, sin que nadie la haga levantar. Prenderé fuego a sus ciudades y él devorará todos sus contornos.
33 Yahweh Sabaoth says this: The people of Israel are oppressed (and the people of Judah too), al theircaptors hold them fast, they will not let them go.	33 Así habla el Señor de los ejércitos: Los hijos de Israel están oprimidos junto con los hijos de Judá; sus carceleros los retienen y se niegan a soltarlos.
34 But their redeemer is strong: Yahweh Sabaoth is his name. He wil take up their cause, to give ourcountry rest but make the inhabitants of Babylon tremble.	34 Pero su redentor es fuerte, su nombre es Señor de los ejércitos: él si que defenderá su causa para dar tranquilidad a la tierra y hacer temblar a los habitantes de Babel.
35 A sword against the Chaldaeans, Yahweh declares, against the inhabitants of Babylon, against herprinces and her sages!	35 ¡Una espada contra los caldeos –oráculo del Señor– y sobre los habitantes de Babel, sobre sus príncipes y sus sabios!
36 A sword against her diviners: may they lose their wits! A sword against her warriors: may they panic!	36 ¡Una espada sobre sus adivinos, y ellos desvarían! ¡Una espada sobre sus adivinos, y ellos desvarían! ¡Una espada sobre sus guerreros, y son presa del pánico!
37 A sword against her horses, her chariots and the conglomeration of people inside her: may they belike women! A sword against her treasures: may they be plundered!	37 ¡Una espada sobre sus caballos y sus carros, y sobre la mezcla de gente que hay en ella, y se vuelven como mujeres! ¡Una espada sobre sus tesoros, y son saqueados!
38 Drought on her waters: may they dry up! For it is a country of idols, and they are mad about those bogeys of theirs!	38 ¡Una espada sobre sus aguas, y ellas se secan! Porque es un país de ídolos y se glorían de esas figuras horrendas.
39 Hence wild cats and jackals wil live there, and ostriches make their home there. She will never againbe inhabited, for ever, but remain uninhabited age after age.	39 Por eso las fieras del desierto habitarán allí con las hienas, y vivirán allí los avestruces; nunca más será habitada, y nadie morará allí de generación en generación.
40 As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and their neighbouring towns, Yahweh declares, noone will live there any more, no human being settle there again.	40 Como cuando Dios provocó la catástrofe de Sodoma y Gomorra y de sus ciudades vecinas –oráculo del Señor– allí no habitará más ningún hombres, no residirá ningún ser humano.
41 Look, a people is coming from the north, a mighty nation; from the far ends of the earth many kingsare stirring.	41 ¡Miren! Un pueblo viene del Norte, una gran nación y reyes numerosos surgen desde el confín de la tierra.
42 They are armed with bow and spear, they are cruel and pitiless; their noise is like the roaring of thesea; they ride horses, ready as one man to fight you, daughter of Babylon!	42 Empuñan el arco y la jabalina, son crueles e implacables; su estruendo es como el rugido del mar, van montados a caballo, alineados como un solo hombre, contra ti, hija de Babilonia.
43 The king of Babylon has heard the news, his hands fal limp, anguish has seized him, pain like that ofa woman in labour.	43 Cuando el rey de Babilonia oyó la noticia desfallecieron sus manos, la angustia se apoderó de él, y un temblor como de parturienta.
44 Look, like a lion he climbs the thickets of the Jordan to the perennial pasture! In a flash I shal makethem run away and there appoint someone I shal choose. For who is there like me? Who can hale me intocourt? Name me the shepherd who can stand up to me.	44 Como un león que sube de la espesura del Jordán a una pradera siempre verde, así yo los haré huir de allí en un instante, y allí estableceré a mi elegido. Porque ¿quién es como yo? ¿Quién me citará a juicio? ¿Quién es el pastor que se me opondrá?
45 So now hear the plan that Yahweh has laid against Babylon, the schemes he has in mind against thecountry of the Chaldaeans: they wil certainly be dragged away like the smallest in the flock! Their pastures willcertainly be sacked before their eyes!	45 Por eso, oigan el plan del Señor sobre Babilonia, sus proyectos sobre el país de los caldeos. Sí, hasta las ovejas más pequeñas serán arrastradas, la pradera se asombrará a causa de ellas.
46 The earth quakes at the sound of Babylon's capture, and the shouting echoes through the nations.	46 Por el estruendo de la toma de Babilonia tiembla la tierra, y el eco resuena entre las naciones.
