Jeremiah 26

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 At the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiahfrom Yahweh,	1 Nel principio [del reame] dello re Ioachim, figliuolo di Iosia, re di Giuda, mi disse Dio questa parola, dicendo:
2 'Yahweh says this, "Stand in the court of the Temple of Yahweh. To al the people from the towns ofJudah who come to worship in the Temple of Yahweh you wil say everything I have ordered you to say, notomitting one syllable.	2 Questo dice Iddio: sta nel cammino della casa di Dio, e parlerai a tutte le cittadi di Giuda, dalle quali vegnono acciò che adorino nella casa di Dio tutti li sermoni i quali io comandai a te che tu parlassi a loro; non volere sottrarre la parola,
3 Perhaps they wil listen and each turn from his evil way: if so, I shal relent and not bring the disaster onthem which I intend because of their misdeeds."	3 se forse odano, e convertansi ciascuno dalla via sua rea; e io mi penta del male, il quale io penso di fare loro per la malizia de' loro studii.
4 Say to them, "Yahweh says this: If you will not listen to me and fol ow my Law which I have given you,	4 E dirai loro: questo dice Iddio: se voi non udirete me, che voi andiate per la mia legge la quale io diedi a voi,
5 and pay attention to the words of my servants the prophets whom I have never tired of sending to you,although you never have paid attention,	5 che voi udiate le parole de' miei servi profeti, i quali io mandai a voi, levandomi di notte e dirizzandomi, e non mi udiste;
6 I shal treat this Temple as I treated Shiloh, and make this city a curse for al the nations of the world." '	6 io darò questa casa come Silo, e questa terra darò in maledizione a tutte le genti della terra.
7 The priests and prophets and al the people heard Jeremiah say these words in the Temple of Yahweh.	7 E udirono li sacerdoti e li profeti e tutto lo populo parlare Ieremia queste parole nella casa di Dio.
8 When Jeremiah had finished saying everything that Yahweh had ordered him to say to al the people,the priests and prophets and al the people seized hold of him and said, 'You will die for this!	8 E quando ebbe Ieremia compiuto di parlare tutte queste cose le quali Iddio gli avea comandato che parlasse a tutto l'universo populo, li sacerdoti e li profeti e tutto il populo pigliarono Ieremia, dicendo: sarà morto di morte.
9 Why have you made this prophecy in Yahweh's name, "This Temple will become like Shiloh, and thiscity become an uninhabited ruin"?' And the people all crowded in on Jeremiah in the Temple of Yahweh.	9 Però che profetoe nel nome di Dio, dicente: come Silo sarà questa casa, e questa città sarà desolata, però che non è chi v' abiti. E radunato fu tutto il populo contro Ieremia nella casa di Dio.
10 Hearing of this, the chief men of Judah came up from the royal palace to the Temple of Yahweh andtook their seats at the entry of the New Gate of the Temple of Yahweh.	10 E udirono (tutti) li principi [di Giuda] tutte queste parole, e salirono della casa dello re nella casa del Signore, e sederono allo introito della porta nuova di Dio.
11 The priests and prophets then said to the chief men and all the people, 'This man deserves to die,since he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears.'	11 E parlarono li sacerdoti e li profeti alli principi e a tutto il populo, dicenti: questo uomo sì è degno di giudicio di morte, però che profetò a questa città, sì come voi udiste colle vostre orecchie.
12 Jeremiah, however, replied to all the chief men and all the people as fol ows, 'Yahweh himself sentme to prophesy against this Temple and this city al the things you have heard.	12 E disse Ieremia a tutti li principi e a tutto il populo: Iddio mi mandò, ch' io profetassi a questa casa e a questa cittade tutte queste parole le quali voi udiste.
13 So now amend your behaviour and actions, listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, and Yahweh wilrelent about the disaster that he has decreed for you.	13 Ora fate buone le vostre vie e li vostri studii, e udite la voce del vostro Signore Iddio; e Iddio si pentirae del male, del quale hae parlato incontro di voi.
14 For myself, I am, as you see, in your hands. Do whatever you please or think right with me.	14 Ma ecco, io sono nelle vostre mani; fate di me quello che vi pare bene e diritto nelli vostri occhi.
15 But be sure of this, that if you put me to death, you wil be bringing innocent blood on yourselves, onthis city and on its inhabitants, since Yahweh has truly sent me to you to say al this for you to hear.'	15 Ma sappiate e cognoscete, come voi, [se] ucciderete me, tradirete lo sangue innocente contro a voi medesimi e contro a questa cittade e contro alli abitatori suoi; in veritade mi mandò Iddio a voi, acciò ch' io parlassi nelle vostre orecchie queste parole.
16 The chief men and al the people then said to the priests and prophets, 'This man does not deserve todie: he has spoken to us in the name of Yahweh our God.'	16 E dissono li principi e tutto lo populo alli sacerdoti e alli profeti: questo uomo non è degno di morte; però che hae parlato a noi nel nome del nostro Signore Iddio.
17 And some of the country's elders rose to address al the assembled people.	17 Allora si levarono uomini suso de' più antichi della terra, e dissono alla compagnia del populo che parlava:
18 'Micah of Moresheth,' they said, 'who prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, had this tosay to all the people of Judah, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: Zion wil become ploughland, Jerusalem a heap ofrubble and the Temple Mount a wooded height."	18 Michea di Morasti (cioè d' una contrada, il quale) fu profeta nel tempo di Ezechia, re di Giuda, e parlò a tutto il populo, dicente: questo dice lo Signore delli esèrciti: Sion sarà arata come lo campo, e Ierusalem sarà quasi come uno monte di pietre; e lo monte e la casa nella eccelsa parte delle selve.
19 'Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death for this? Did they not rather, fearingYahweh, plead with him, to such effect that Yahweh relented about the disaster which he had decreed for them?Are we now to burden our souls with such a crime?'	19 Or (non) lo condannò a morte Ezechia, re di Giuda, e tutto lo suo populo di Giuda? or non temerono Dominedio, e pregarono la faccia di Dio, e Iddio si pentio del male avea parlato contro di loro? Adunque noi facciamo male incontro alle anime nostre.
20 There was another man, too, who used to prophesy in Yahweh's name, Uriah son of Shemaiah, fromKiriath-Jearim. He prophesied exactly the same things against this city and this country as Jeremiah.	20 Anche fu uno ch' ebbe nome Uria, uomo profetante nel nome di Dio, e fu figliuolo di Semei di (una contrada che si chiama) Cariatiarim; e profetò incontro a questa cittade, e incontro a questa terra secondo le parole di Ieremia.
21 When King Jehoiakim with all his officers and all the chief men heard what he said, the king wasdetermined to put him to death. On hearing this, Uriah took fright and, fleeing, escaped to Egypt.	21 E udio lo re Ioachim e tutti li potenti e principi suoi queste parole; e cercò lo re per ucciderlo. E Uria l'udio, e temeo, e fuggio, ed entroe in Egitto.
22 King Jehoiakim, however, sent Elnathan son of Achbor to Egypt with others,	22 E lo re Ioachim mandò uomini in Egitto, Elnatan, figliuolo di Acobor, e altri uomini con lui in Egitto.
23 who brought Uriah back from Egypt and took him to King Jehoiakim, who had him put to the swordand his body thrown into the common burial ground.	23 e menaronlo allo re Ioachim; e percosselo con uno coltello, e gittò lo suo corpo nelli sepolcri del popolo ignobile, (cioè fue come in uno luogo vituperoso, quasi come carnaio).
24 But Jeremiah had a protector in Ahikam son of Shaphan, so he was not handed over to the people tobe put to death.	24 Adunque la mano di Aicam, figliuolo di Safan, fue con Ieremia, acciò che non fosse dato nella mano del populo, e che non lo uccidesse.
