Isaiah 24

1 See how Yahweh lays the earth waste, makes it a desert, buckles its surface, scatters its inhabitants,	1 Seht her! Der Herr verheert und verwüstet die Erde; er verändert ihr Gesicht und zerstreut ihre Bewohner.
2 priest and people alike, master and slave, mistress and maid, seller and buyer, lender and borrower,creditor and debtor.	2 Dann geht es dem Laien wie dem Priester, dem Knecht wie dem Herrn, der Magd wie der Herrin, dem Käufer wie dem Verkäufer, dem Gläubiger wie dem Schuldner, dem, der ausleiht, wie dem, der leiht.
3 Ravaged, ravaged the earth wil be, despoiled, despoiled, for Yahweh has uttered this word.	3 Verheert wird die Erde, verheert, geplündert wird sie, geplündert. Ja, der Herr hat es gesagt.

7 The new wine is mourning, the vine is withering away, the once merry-hearted are sighing.	7 Der Wein ist dahin, die Rebe verwelkt; alle, die einst so heiter waren, seufzen und stöhnen.
8 The cheerful sound of tambourines is silent, the sound of revel ing is over, the cheerful sound of theharp is silent.	8 Verstummt ist der fröhliche Klang der Trommeln, der Lärm der Übermütigen ist zu Ende, verstummt ist der fröhliche Klang der Zither.
9 No more wil they sing over their wine, liquor wil taste bitter to the drinker.	9 Man trinkt keinen Wein mehr bei frohem Gesang, das Bier der Zecher ist bitter geworden.
10 The city of nothingness is in ruins, every house is shut, no one can enter.	10 Die öde Stadt liegt in Trümmern, alle Häuser sind für den Zutritt verschlossen.
11 People shout in the streets to try to get wine; al joy has vanished, happiness has been banished fromthe country.	11 Auf den Gassen jammern die Leute: Es gibt keinen Wein mehr! Jede Freude ist verschwunden, aller Jubel hat die Erde verlassen.
12 Nothing but rubble in the city, the gate has col apsed in ruins.	12 Von der Stadt blieben nur noch Ruinen, auch das Tor wurde zertrümmert.
13 For at the heart of earth's life, among the peoples, it is as at the beating of the olive trees, as at thegleaning of the grapes when the grape harvest is over.	13 Dann ist es unter den Völkern auf der Erde, wie wenn man Oliven abschlägt, wie bei der Nachlese, wenn die Ernte vorbei ist.
14 They raise their voices, shouting for joy, in Yahweh's honour they shout from the west.	14 Sie beginnen zu jubeln, sie preisen die Größe des Herrn. Jauchzt, ihr im Westen,
15 'Yes, in the east, give glory to Yahweh, in the islands of the sea, to the name of Yahweh, God ofIsrael!'	15 ehrt den Herrn, ihr im Osten! Und ihr auf den Inseln im Meer, preist den Namen des Herrn, des Gottes Israels!
16 We have heard psalms from the remotest parts of earth, 'Glory to the Upright One!' But I thought,'What an ordeal, what an ordeal! What misery for me!' The traitors have betrayed, the traitors have acted mosttreacherously.	16 Von den äußersten Enden der Erde hören wir Lieder: Preis dem Gerechten! Ich aber sage: Weh mir! Elend, Elend kommt über mich. Treulose handeln treulos, ja, die Treulosen brechen die Treue.
17 Fear, the pit and the snare for you, inhabitants of the city!	17 Grauen, Grube und Garn warten auf euch, ihr Bewohner der Erde.
18 And whoever flees from the cry of fear wil fal into the pit, and whoever climbs out of the pit will becaught in the snare. Yes, the sluice-gates above are open, the foundations of the earth are quaking.	18 Wer dem Lärm des Grauens entflieht, fällt in die Grube. Wer aus der Grube entkommt, fängt sich im Garn. Die Schleusen hoch droben werden geöffnet, die Fundamente der Erde werden erschüttert.
19 A cracking, the earth cracks open, a jolting, the earth gives a jolt, a lurching, the earth lurchesbackwards and forwards.	19 Die Erde birst und zerbirst, die Erde bricht und zerbricht, die Erde wankt und schwankt.
20 The earth wil reel to and fro like a drunkard, it will be shaken like a shanty; so heavy wil be its sin onit, it wil fal , never to rise again.	20 Wie ein Betrunkener taumelt die Erde, sie schwankt wie eine wacklige Hütte. Ihre Sünden lasten auf ihr; sie fällt und kann sich nicht mehr erheben.
21 When that day comes, Yahweh wil punish the armies of the sky above and on earth the kings of theearth;	21 An jenem Tag wird der Herr hoch droben das Heer in der Höhe zur Rechenschaft ziehen und auf der Erde die Könige der Erde.
22 they wil be herded together, herded together like prisoners in a dungeon and shut up in gaol, and,after long years, punished.	22 Sie werden zusammengetrieben und in eine Grube gesperrt; sie werden ins Gefängnis geworfen und nach einer langen Zeit wird er sie strafen.
23 The moon will be confused and the sun ashamed, for Yahweh Sabaoth is king on Mount Zion and inJerusalem, and the Glory will radiate on their elders.	23 Dann muss der Mond sich schämen, muss die Sonne erbleichen. Denn der Herr der Heere ist König auf dem Berg Zion und in Jerusalem, er offenbart seinen Ältesten seine strahlende Pracht.
