Ezra 5

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 When the prophets Haggai and Zechariah son of Iddo prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah andJerusalem in the name of the God of Israel who was over them,	1 E profetarono Aggeo profeta e Zacaria figliuolo di Addo, profetando ai Giudei i quali erano in Giuda e in Ierusalem, nel nome di Dio d' Israel.
2 Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak began rebuilding the Temple of God inJerusalem; with them were the prophets of God, supporting them.	2 E allora si levarono Zorobabel figliuolo di Salatiel e Iosue figliuolo di Iosedec, e cominciarono a edificare il tempio di Dio in Ierusalem, e con esso loro i profeti di Dio aiutando loro.
3 It was then that Tattenai governor of Transeuphrates, Shethar-Bozenai and their associates came tothem and asked, 'Who gave you the order to rebuild this Temple and complete this structure?	3 E in quello tempo venne a loro Tatanai, il quale era capitano oltre il fiume, e Starbuzanai e' suoi consiglieri, e dissero loro così: chi v' ha dato il consiglio', che voi edifichiate questa casa, e che voi rifaceste le mura?
4 What are the names of the men putting up this building?'	4 Alla quale [domanda] noi respondemmo loro, quali fossero i nomi di coloro ch' erano fattori di quella opera.
5 But the eyes of their God were watching over the elders of the Jews, so they were not forced to stopuntil a report could reach Darius and an official reply about the matter could be received from him.	5 E l'occhio d' Iddio loro fu fatto sopra gli antichi de' Giudei; e non poterono contraddire. E piacque che questa cosa fosse rapportata a Dario (re), e allora satisfarebbono della accusazione.
6 A copy of the letter which Tattenai, governor of Transeuphrates, Shethar-Bozenai and his associates,the officials in Transeuphrates, sent to King Darius.	6 L'esempio della lettera, che mandoe Tatanai, capitano delle parti oltre il fiume, e Starbuzanai e' loro consiglieri Arfasachei, i quali erano oltre al fiume, al re Dario.
7 They sent him a report which ran as fol ows: 'To King Darius, hearty greetings!	7 Il sermone il quale gli mandoro (scritto) era scritto così: a Dario re ogni pace.
8 'The king should be informed that we went to the province of Judah, to the Temple of the great God,which is being rebuilt with large stones; beams are being embedded in the walls; the work is being carried outenergetical y and is making good progress.	8 Sia manifesto al re, che noi siamo andati in Giudea, alla casa del grande Iddio, la quale si è edificata di pietre non polite, e pongonsi le legna nelle mura; e fassi quello lavorìo diligentemente, e cresce tra le sue mani.
9 Questioning these elders, we asked them, "Who gave you permission to rebuild this Temple andcomplete this structure?"	9 Noi domandammo quelli vecchii, e dicemmo loro così: chi v' ha data podestà, che voi edificate questa casa e rifacciate le mura?
10 We also asked them their names, to inform you, so that we could record the names of the men whowere their leaders.	10 E domandammo di loro e de' loro nomi, per significarlo; e abbiamo scritti i nomi loro di quelli che sono principi loro.
11 'They gave us the fol owing answer, "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth; we arerebuilding the Temple built many years ago, which a great king of Israel had built and completed.	11 Ed egli ci respuosono così fatto sermone : noi siamo servi di Dio del cielo e della terra, e rifacemo il tempio il quale, innanzi a questi anni molto, fu edificato dal grande re d' Israel e fatto.
12 But because our ancestors angered the God of heaven, he handed them over to Nebuchadnezzar theChaldaean king of Babylon who destroyed this Temple and deported the people to Babylon.	12 E da poi che i nostri padri provocarono ad ira Iddio di cielo, egli diede loro nelle mani di Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia Caldeo, e disfece questa casa, e il suo popolo traslatoe in Babilonia.
13 In the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, however, King Cyrus issued an official order that this Templeof God should be rebuilt;	13 Ma nel primo anno di Ciro re di Babilonia, il re Ciro puose il comandamento, che la casa di Dio fosse riedificata.
14 furthermore, those gold and silver articles belonging to the Temple of God, which Nebuchadnezzar hadremoved from the temple in Jerusalem and brought to the temple of Babylon, King Cyrus in turn removed fromthe temple of Babylon and handed back to a certain Sheshbazzar whom he had appointed governor.	14 E le vasa del tempio d'oro e d'ariento, le quali Nabudonosor avea tolte del tempio il quale era in Ierusalem, e aveale portate nel tempio di Babilonia, Ciro re le tolse del tempio di Babilonia, e furono date a Sassabasar, il quale egli fece capitano.
15 He said to him, 'Take these articles; go and return them to the Temple which is in Jerusalem and letthe Temple of God be rebuilt on its original site;'	15 E disse a lui: togli queste vasa, e vattene, e ponle nel tempio (di Dio) il quale è in Ierusalem.
16 this Sheshbazzar then came and laid the foundations of the Temple of God in Jerusalem, and it hasbeen under construction ever since, and is not yet finished."	16 ..... e da quello tempo in qua si è lavorato, e non è compiuto.
17 'Hence, if it please the king, let search be made in the royal treasuries in Babylon, to find out if it is truethat an official order was issued by King Cyrus for this temple of God in Jerusalem to be rebuilt; and let the king'sdecision on this matter be sent to us.'	17 Ora se al re pare buono, cerchi nella biblioteca del re, la quale è in Babilonia, se fu comandato dal re Ciro, che la casa di Dio fosse edificata in Ierusalem; e sopra questo mandi il re a noi la sua volontà.
