1 These are the men who rallied to David at Ziklag while he was stil being kept away from Saul son ofKish; they were among the champions, the warriors.	1 ואלה הבאים אל דויד לציקלג עוד עצור מפני שאול בן קיש והמה בגבורים עזרי המלחמה
2 They were equipped with bows and could sling stones or shoot arrows from the bow with either righthand or left. Of Saul's fellow-tribesmen from Benjamin:	2 נשקי קשת מימינים ומשמאלים באבנים ובחצים בקשת מאחי שאול מבנימן
3 Ahiezer the leader, and Joash, sons of Hassemar of Gibeah, Jeziel and Peleth, sons of Azmaveth,Berachah and Jehu of Anathoth,	3 הראש אחיעזר ויואש בני השמעה הגבעתי ויזואל ופלט בני עזמות וברכה ויהוא הענתתי
4 Ishmaiah of Gibeon, one of the champions in the Thirty and commander of the Thirty,	4 וישמעיה הגבעוני גבור בשלשים ועל השלשים וירמיה ויחזיאל ויוחנן ויוזבד הגדרתי
5 Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan and Jozabed of Gederoth,	5 אלעוזי וירימות ובעליה ושמריהו ושפטיהו החריפי
6 Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, Shephatiah of Hariph,	6 אלקנה וישיהו ועזראל ויועזר וישבעם הקרחים
7 Elkanah, Isshiah, Azarel, Joezer and Jashobeam the Korahites,	7 ויועאלה וזבדיה בני ירחם מן הגדור
8 Joelah, Zebadiah, sons of Jeroham of Gedor.	8 ומן הגדי נבדלו אל דויד למצד מדברה גברי החיל אנשי צבא למלחמה ערכי צנה ורמח ופני אריה פניהם וכצבאים על ההרים למהר
9 From the Gadites, some good, capable fighting men defected and came to David at the stronghold inthe desert -- al skil ed with shield and spear, fierce as lions and nimble as mountain gazel es.	9 עזר הראש עבדיה השני אליאב השלשי
10 Ezer was the leader, Obadiah second, Eliab third,	10 משמנה הרביעי ירמיה החמשי
11 Mishmannah fourth, Jeremiah fifth,	11 עתי הששי אליאל השבעי
12 Attai sixth, Eliel seventh,	12 יוחנן השמיני אלזבד התשיעי
13 Johanan eighth, Elzabad ninth,	13 ירמיהו העשירי מכבני עשתי עשר
14 Jeremiah tenth, Machbannai eleventh.	14 אלה מבני גד ראשי הצבא אחד למאה הקטן והגדול לאלף
15 These Gadites were the leaders of the troops, the least of them a match for a hundred men and thegreatest a match for a thousand.	15 אלה הם אשר עברו את הירדן בחדש הראשון והוא ממלא על כל גדיתיו ויבריחו את כל העמקים למזרח ולמערב
16 These were the men who once crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed itsbanks and had driven out al the lowlanders to east and west.	16 ויבאו מן בני בנימן ויהודה עד למצד לדויד
17 Some of the Benjaminites and Judahites also joined David at the stronghold.	17 ויצא דויד לפניהם ויען ויאמר להם אם לשלום באתם אלי לעזרני יהיה לי עליכם לבב ליחד ואם לרמותני לצרי בלא חמס בכפי ירא אלהי אבותינו ויוכח
18 When David came forward to meet them, he responded to them by saying, 'If you have come to mewith peaceful intent to help me, you will find me a good friend. But if it is to betray me to my enemies, seeing thatI have done nothing wrong, may the God of our ancestors take note and condemn you.'	18 ורוח לבשה את עמשי ראש השלושים לך דויד ועמך בן ישי שלום שלום לך ושלום לעזרך כי עזרך אלהיך ויקבלם דויד ויתנם בראשי הגדוד
19 Then the Spirit invested Amasai the leader of the Thirty: 'We are your men, David; with you, son ofJesse! Peace be with you, peace be with you; peace be with those who help you! For your God has helped you!'And David accepted them, including them among his more senior officers.	19 וממנשה נפלו על דויד בבאו עם פלשתים על שאול למלחמה ולא עזרם כי בעצה שלחהו סרני פלשתים לאמר בראשינו יפול אל אדניו שאול
20 Some Manassehites also defected to David as he was setting out with the Philistines to fight Saul.But he did not help the Philistines because, after consultation, their chiefs sent him away, saying, 'He wil defectto his master Saul and it wil cost us our heads!'	20 בלכתו אל ציקלג נפלו עליו ממנשה עדנח ויוזבד וידיעאל ומיכאל ויוזבד ואליהוא וצלתי ראשי האלפים אשר למנשה
21 He was on his way to Ziklag when these Manassehites deserted to him: Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael,Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, Zil ethai, chiefs of thousands in Manasseh.	21 והמה עזרו עם דויד על הגדוד כי גבורי חיל כלם ויהיו שרים בצבא
22 They helped David and his band, since they were al men of standing and became officers in thearmy.	22 כי לעת יום ביום יבאו על דויד לעזרו עד למחנה גדול כמחנה אלהים
23 Indeed reinforcements reached David day after day, so that his camp grew into a camp of prodigioussize.	23 ואלה מספרי ראשי החלוץ לצבא באו על דויד חברונה להסב מלכות שאול אליו כפי יהוה
24 These are the numbers of ful y armed men who joined David at Hebron to transfer Saul's kingdom tohim in accordance with the order of Yahweh:	24 בני יהודה נשאי צנה ורמח ששת אלפים ושמונה מאות חלוצי צבא
25 Judahites carrying shield and spear: six thousand eight hundred ful y armed warriors;	25 מן בני שמעון גבורי חיל לצבא שבעת אלפים ומאה
26 Simeonites; seven thousand one hundred champions valiant in war;	26 מן בני הלוי ארבעת אלפים ושש מאות
27 Levites: four thousand six hundred,	27 ויהוידע הנגיד לאהרן ועמו שלשת אלפים ושבע מאות
28 in addition to Jehoiada, in command of the Aaronites, with three thousand seven hundred of these,	28 וצדוק נער גבור חיל ובית אביו שרים עשרים ושנים
29 Zadok, a young and valiant champion, and twenty-two commanders of his family;	29 ומן בני בנימן אחי שאול שלשת אלפים ועד הנה מרביתם שמרים משמרת בית שאול
30 Benjaminites: three thousand kinsmen of Saul, most of them hitherto in the service of the House ofSaul;	30 ומן בני אפרים עשרים אלף ושמונה מאות גבורי חיל אנשי שמות לבית אבותם
31 Ephraimites: twenty thousand eight hundred valiant champions, men famous in their families;	31 ומחצי מטה מנשה שמונה עשר אלף אשר נקבו בשמות לבוא להמליך את דויד
32 of the half-tribe of Manasseh: eighteen thousand men assigned by name to go and proclaim Davidking;	32 ומבני יששכר יודעי בינה לעתים לדעת מה יעשה ישראל ראשיהם מאתים וכל אחיהם על פיהם
33 Issacharites, sound judges of the times when Israel should take action, and the way to do it: twohundred chiefs and al their kinsmen under their command;	33 מזבלון יוצאי צבא ערכי מלחמה בכל כלי מלחמה חמשים אלף ולעדר בלא לב ולב
34 Zebulunites: fifty thousand men fit for service, marshalled for battle, with warlike weapons of everykind, staunch-hearted auxiliaries;	34 ומנפתלי שרים אלף ועמהם בצנה וחנית שלשים ושבעה אלף
35 Naphtalites: a thousand commanders, and with them thirty-seven thousand men armed with shieldand spear;	35 ומן הדני ערכי מלחמה עשרים ושמונה אלף ושש מאות
36 Danites: twenty-eight thousand six hundred men marshal ed for battle;	36 ומאשר יוצאי צבא לערך מלחמה ארבעים אלף
37 Asherites: forty thousand men fit for service, marshalled for battle;	37 ומעבר לירדן מן הראובני והגדי וחצי שבט מנשה בכל כלי צבא מלחמה מאה ועשרים אלף
38 from Transjordan: a hundred and twenty thousand men of Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe ofManasseh, with warlike weapons of every kind.	38 כל אלה אנשי מלחמה עדרי מערכה בלבב שלם באו חברונה להמליך את דויד על כל ישראל וגם כל שרית ישראל לב אחד להמליך את דויד
39 Al these warriors in battle array came to David at Hebron with the firm determination of makingDavid king of al Israel; and the rest of Israel, too, was of one mind in wanting to make David king.	39 ויהיו שם עם דויד ימים שלושה אכלים ושותים כי הכינו להם אחיהם
40 For three days they stayed there with David, eating and drinking, their fellow-tribesmen having madepreparations for them;	40 וגם הקרובים אליהם עד יששכר וזבלון ונפתלי מביאים לחם בחמורים ובגמלים ובפרדים ובבקר מאכל קמח דבלים וצמוקים ויין ושמן ובקר וצאן לרב כי שמחה בישראל
41 their neighbours too, from as far away as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food ondonkeys, camels, mules and oxen-supplies of flour, fig cakes, bunches of raisins, wine, oil, quantities of oxenand sheep -- for there was joy in Israel.
