Genesis 14

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA VOLGARE
1 When Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, and Tidal king ofthe Goiim,	1 Fatto è in verità in quello tempo, che lo Re Amrafel, Re di Sennaar, ed Arioc Re di Ponto, e Codorlaomor Re degli Elamiti, e Tadal Re delle genti,
2 made war on Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king ofZeboi m, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar),	2 cominciassoro battaglia contra Bara Re di Sodoma, e contra Bersa Re di Gomorra, e contra Sennaab Re di Adama, e contra Semeber Re di Se boim, e contra'l Re di Bala, la quale è Segor.
3 al the latter joined forces in the Val ey of Siddim (now the Salt Sea).	3 Tutti quanti questi Re si ragunarono nella valle silvestre, la quale aguale è mare salso.
4 For twelve years they had been under the yoke of Chedor-Laomer, but in the thirteenth year theyrevolted.	4 Duodeci anni servirono Codorlaomor, XIII anno si partirono da lui.
5 In the fourteenth year Chedor-Laomer arrived and the kings who had al ied themselves with him. Theydefeated the Rephaim at Ashteroth-Carnaim, the Zuzim at Ham, the Emim in the Plain of Kiriathaim,	5 Adunque l'anno XIIII venne Codorlaomor, ed i Re che erano con lui; e percossero Rafaim in Asta rot e Carnaim, e Zuzim con loro, ed Emim Save Cariataim,
6 the Horites in the mountainous district of Seir near El-Paran, which is on the edge of the desert.	6 e' Correos ne'monti Seir, insino a' campi di Faran, il quale è in solitudine.
7 Wheeling round, they came to the Spring of Judgement (that is, Kadesh); they conquered all theterritory of the Amalekites and also the Amorites who lived in Hazazon-Tamar.	7 E tornorsene, e vennero alla fonte di Misfat, la quale è Cades; e percossero ogni regione degli Amalechiti e degli Amorrei, i quali abitavano in Asasontamar.
8 Then the kings of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim and Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out andengaged them in the Val ey of Siddim:	8 E venuti sono i Re di Sodoma e di Gomorra, e lo Re di Adama, e lo Re di Seboim, ed ancora lo Re di Bala la quale è Segor; e dirizzarono la schiera contro coloro nella valle silvestre,
9 Chedor-Laomer king of Elam, Tidal king of the Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar and Arioch king ofEl asar: four kings against five.	9 cioè contra Codorlaomor Re degli Elamiti, e Tadal Re delle genti, ed Amrafel Re di Sennaar, ed Arioc Re de' Ponti; quattro Re contra cinque.
10 Now there were many bitumen wel s in the Val ey of Siddim, and in their flight the kings of Sodomand Gomorrah fel into them, while the rest fled into the hil s.	10 E la valle silvestre avea molti pozzi di bitume. Così adunque lo Re di Sodoma e di Gomorra le reni volsero, e furono abattuti quivi; e coloro che remansero fuggirono al monte.
11 The conquerors seized al the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, andmade off.	11 Ed in verità tolseno ogni sustanza di quelli di Sodoma e di Gomorra, e tutte quelle cose che a cibo s' appartiene, ed andaronsene.
12 They also took Lot (the nephew of Abram) and his possessions and made off; he had been living atSodom.	12 Ed anco tolseno Lot e la sustanza sua e lo figliuolo del fratello di Abram, il quale abitava in Sodoma.
13 A survivor came to tell Abram, and Aner the Hebrew, who was living at the Oak of the AmoriteMamre, the brother of Eshcol; these were al ies of Abram.	13 Ed ecco uno di coloro ch' erano campati nunciollo ad Abram ebreo, il quale abitava in con valle Mambre di Amorreo, fratello di Escol e fratello di Aner. Costoro in verità aveano fatto patto con Abram.
14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he mustered his retainers born in hisown household, numbering three hundred and eighteen, and gave chase as far as Dan.	14 La quale cosa [come ] ebbe udito Abram, ch' era preso Lot suo fratello, annumerò degli pedoni, ch' egli avea servi, CCCXVIII: perseguitò loro insino a Dan.
15 He and his retainers deployed against them under cover of dark, defeated them and pursued themas far as Hobah, north of Damascus.	15 E divise i compagni, ed assalie loro di notte; e furono percossi, e perseguitogli insino a Oba, la quale è (insino) alla sinistra di Damasco.
16 He recaptured all the goods as wel as his kinsman Lot and his possessions, together with thewomen and people.	16 E rimenoe ogni sostanza, con Lot suo fratello, e le femine e lo popolo.
17 When Abram returned from defeating Chedor-Laomer and the kings who had been on his side, theking of Sodom came to meet him in the Val ey of Shaveh (that is, the Val ey of the King).	17 E ritornato è lo Re di Sodoma contra lui, poscia che fu tornato dalla cede di Codorlaomor e dei re che con lui erano nella valle di Save, la quale è valle di Re.
18 Melchizedek king of Salem brought bread and wine; he was a priest of God Most High.	18 Ed in verità Melchisedec, re di Salem, proferente pane e vino; era Sacerdote di Dio altissimo;
19 He pronounced this blessing: Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.And blessed be God Most High for putting your enemies into your clutches.	19 benedisse lui, e disse: benedetto Abram da Dio eccelso, il quale creò lo cielo e la terra;
20 And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.	20 e benedetto Iddio altissimo, il quale defen dendo te, gl'inimici tuoi nelle mani tue dati sono. E diede a lui le decime d'ogni cosa.
21 The king of Sodom said to Abram, 'Give me the people and take the possessions for yourself.'	21 E disse in verità lo re di Sodoma ad Abram: dàmmi l'anime tue; l'altre cose togli per te.
22 But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, 'I swear by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth:	22 Il quale gli disse: io levo la mano mia al Signore altissimo, possessore del cielo e della terra,
23 not one thread, not one sandal strap, will I take of what is yours, for you to be able to say, "I madeAbram rich."	23 che dal filo subtegminis (cioè de lo cominciare della camiscia) insino alla coreggia della calza non ti torrò niuna cosa che sia tua, acciò che tu non dica: io arricchii Abram,
24 For myself, nothing -- except what the troops have used up, and the share due to the men who camewith me, Eshcol, Aner and Mamre; let them take their share.'	24 trattone quelle cose che mangiarono i giovani, e le parti degli uomini che vennero meco, Aner, Escol e Mambre: questi tolsero la parte loro.
