Isaiah 33

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	LXX
1 Woe, O destroyer never destroyed, O traitor never betrayed! When you finish destroying, you will be destroyed; when wearied with betraying, you will be betrayed.	1 ουαι τοις ταλαιπωρουσιν υμας υμας δε ουδεις ποιει ταλαιπωρους και ο αθετων υμας ουκ αθετει αλωσονται οι αθετουντες και παραδοθησονται και ως σης επι ιματιου ουτως ηττηθησονται
2 O LORD, have pity on us, for you we wait. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of trouble!	2 κυριε ελεησον ημας επι σοι γαρ πεποιθαμεν εγενηθη το σπερμα των απειθουντων εις απωλειαν η δε σωτηρια ημων εν καιρω θλιψεως
3 At the roaring sound, peoples flee; when you rise in your majesty, nations are scattered.	3 δια φωνην του φοβου σου εξεστησαν λαοι απο του φοβου σου και διεσπαρησαν τα εθνη
4 Men gather spoil as caterpillars are gathered up; they rush upon it like the onrush of locusts.	4 νυν δε συναχθησεται τα σκυλα υμων μικρου και μεγαλου ον τροπον εαν τις συναγαγη ακριδας ουτως εμπαιξουσιν υμιν
5 The LORD is exalted, enthroned on high; he fills Zion with right and justice.	5 αγιος ο θεος ο κατοικων εν υψηλοις ενεπλησθη σιων κρισεως και δικαιοσυνης
6 That which makes her seasons lasting, the riches that save her, are wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is her treasure.	6 εν νομω παραδοθησονται εν θησαυροις η σωτηρια ημων εκει σοφια και επιστημη και ευσεβεια προς τον κυριον ουτοι εισιν θησαυροι δικαιοσυνης
7 See, the men of Ariel cry out in the streets, the messengers of Shalem weep bitterly.	7 ιδου δη εν τω φοβω υμων αυτοι φοβηθησονται ους εφοβεισθε φοβηθησονται αφ' υμων αγγελοι γαρ αποσταλησονται αξιουντες ειρηνην πικρως κλαιοντες παρακαλουντες ειρηνην
8 The highways are desolate, travelers have quit the paths, Covenants are broken, their terms are spurned; yet no man gives it a thought.	8 ερημωθησονται γαρ αι τουτων οδοι πεπαυται ο φοβος των εθνων και η προς τουτους διαθηκη αιρεται και ου μη λογισησθε αυτους ανθρωπους
9 The country languishes in mourning, Lebanon withers with shame; Sharon is like the steppe, Bashan and Carmel are stripped bare.	9 επενθησεν η γη ησχυνθη ο λιβανος ελη εγενετο ο σαρων φανερα εσται η γαλιλαια και ο καρμηλος
10 Now will I rise up, says the LORD, now will I be exalted, now be lifted up.	10 νυν αναστησομαι λεγει κυριος νυν δοξασθησομαι νυν υψωθησομαι
11 You conceive dry grass, bring forth stubble; my spirit shall consume you like fire.	11 νυν οψεσθε νυν αισθηθησεσθε ματαια εσται η ισχυς του πνευματος υμων πυρ υμας κατεδεται
12 The peoples shall be as in a limekiln, like brushwood cut down for burning in the fire.	12 και εσονται εθνη κατακεκαυμενα ως ακανθα εν αγρω ερριμμενη και κατακεκαυμενη
13 Hear, you who are far off, what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge my might.	13 ακουσονται οι πορρωθεν α εποιησα γνωσονται οι εγγιζοντες την ισχυν μου
14 On Zion sinners are in dread, trembling grips the impious: "Who of us can live with the consuming fire? who of us can live with the everlasting flames?"	14 απεστησαν οι εν σιων ανομοι λημψεται τρομος τους ασεβεις τις αναγγελει υμιν οτι πυρ καιεται τις αναγγελει υμιν τον τοπον τον αιωνιον
15 He who practices virtue and speaks honestly, who spurns what is gained by oppression, Brushing his hands free of contact with a bribe, stopping his ears lest he hear of bloodshed, closing his eyes lest he look on evil--	15 πορευομενος εν δικαιοσυνη λαλων ευθειαν οδον μισων ανομιαν και αδικιαν και τας χειρας αποσειομενος απο δωρων βαρυνων τα ωτα ινα μη ακουση κρισιν αιματος καμμυων τους οφθαλμους ινα μη ιδη αδικιαν
16 He shall dwell on the heights, his stronghold shall be the rocky fastness, his food and drink in steady supply.	16 ουτος οικησει εν υψηλω σπηλαιω πετρας ισχυρας αρτος αυτω δοθησεται και το υδωρ αυτου πιστον
17 Your eyes will see a king in his splendor, they will look upon a vast land.	17 βασιλεα μετα δοξης οψεσθε και οι οφθαλμοι υμων οψονται γην πορρωθεν
18 Your mind will dwell on the terror: "Where is he who counted, where is he who weighed? Where is he who counted the towers?"	18 η ψυχη υμων μελετησει φοβον που εισιν οι γραμματικοι που εισιν οι συμβουλευοντες που εστιν ο αριθμων τους τρεφομενους
19 To the people of alien tongue you will look no more, the people of obscure speech, stammering in a language not understood.	19 μικρον και μεγαν λαον ω ου συνεβουλευσαντο ουδε ηδει βαθυφωνον ωστε μη ακουσαι λαος πεφαυλισμενος και ουκ εστιν τω ακουοντι συνεσις
20 Look to Zion, the city of our festivals; let your eyes see Jerusalem as a quiet abode, a tent not to be struck, Whose pegs will never be pulled up, nor any of its ropes severed.	20 ιδου σιων η πολις το σωτηριον ημων οι οφθαλμοι σου οψονται ιερουσαλημ πολις πλουσια σκηναι αι ου μη σεισθωσιν ουδε μη κινηθωσιν οι πασσαλοι της σκηνης αυτης εις τον αιωνα χρονον ουδε τα σχοινια αυτης ου μη διαρραγωσιν
21 In a place of rivers and wide streams on which no boat is rowed, where no majestic ship passes,	21 οτι το ονομα κυριου μεγα υμιν τοπος υμιν εσται ποταμοι και διωρυγες πλατεις και ευρυχωροι ου πορευση ταυτην την οδον ουδε πορευσεται πλοιον ελαυνον
22 Indeed the LORD will be there with us, majestic; yes, the LORD our judge, the LORD our lawgiver, the LORD our king, he it is who will save us.	22 ο γαρ θεος μου μεγας εστιν ου παρελευσεται με κυριος κριτης ημων κυριος αρχων ημων κυριος βασιλευς ημων κυριος ουτος ημας σωσει
23 The rigging hangs slack; it cannot hold the mast in place, nor keep the sail spread out. Then the blind will divide great spoils and the lame will carry off the loot.	23 ερραγησαν τα σχοινια σου οτι ουκ ενισχυσεν ο ιστος σου εκλινεν ου χαλασει τα ιστια ουκ αρει σημειον εως ου παραδοθη εις προνομην τοινυν πολλοι χωλοι προνομην ποιησουσιν
24 No one who dwells there will say, "I am sick"; the people who live there will be forgiven their guilt.	24 και ου μη ειπη κοπιω ο λαος ο ενοικων εν αυτοις αφεθη γαρ αυτοις η αμαρτια
