Psalms 105

1 Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name; make known among the peoples his deeds!	1 Alleluia. Lodate il Signore e invocate il suo nome, proclamate tra i popoli le sue opere.
2 Sing praise, play music; proclaim all his wondrous deeds!	2 Cantate a lui canti di gioia, meditate tutti i suoi prodigi.
3 Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!	3 Gloriatevi del suo santo nome: gioisca il cuore di chi cerca il Signore.
4 Rely on the mighty LORD; constantly seek his face.	4 Cercate il Signore e la sua potenza, cercate sempre il suo volto.
5 Recall the wondrous deeds he has done, his signs and his words of judgment,	5 Ricordate le meraviglie che ha compiute, i suoi prodigi e i giudizi della sua bocca:
6 You descendants of Abraham his servant, offspring of Jacob the chosen one!	6 voi stirpe di Abramo, suo servo, figli di Giacobbe, suo eletto.
7 The LORD is our God who rules the whole earth.	7 È lui il Signore, nostro Dio, su tutta la terra i suoi giudizi.
8 He remembers forever his covenant, the pact imposed for a thousand generations,	8 Ricorda sempre la sua alleanza: parola data per mille generazioni,
9 Which was made with Abraham, confirmed by oath to Isaac,	9 l'alleanza stretta con Abramo e il suo giuramento ad Isacco.
10 And ratified as binding for Jacob, an everlasting covenant for Israel:	10 La stabilì per Giacobbe come legge, come alleanza eterna per Israele:
11 "To you I give the land of Canaan, your own allotted heritage."	11 "Ti darò il paese di Cànaan come eredità a voi toccata in sorte".
12 When they were few in number, a handful, and strangers there,	12 Quando erano in piccolo numero, pochi e forestieri in quella terra,
13 Wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another,	13 e passavano di paese in paese, da un regno ad un altro popolo,
14 He let no one oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:	14 non permise che alcuno li opprimesse e castigò i re per causa loro:
15 " Do not touch my anointed, to my prophets do no harm."	15 "Non toccate i miei consacrati, non fate alcun male ai miei profeti".
16 Then he called down a famine on the land, destroyed the grain that sustained them.	16 Chiamò la fame sopra quella terra e distrusse ogni riserva di pane.
17 He had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, sold as a slave.	17 Davanti a loro mandò un uomo, Giuseppe, venduto come schiavo.
18 They shackled his feet with chains; collared his neck in iron,	18 Gli strinsero i piedi con ceppi, il ferro gli serrò la gola,
19 Till his prediction came to pass, and the word of the LORD proved him true.	19 finché si avverò la sua predizione e la parola del Signore gli rese giustizia.
20 The king sent and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.	20 Il re mandò a scioglierlo, il capo dei popoli lo fece liberare;
21 He made him lord over his palace, ruler over all his possessions,	21 lo pose signore della sua casa, capo di tutti i suoi averi,
22 To instruct his princes by his word, to teach his elders wisdom.	22 per istruire i capi secondo il suo giudizio e insegnare la saggezza agli anziani.
23 Then Israel entered Egypt; Jacob lived in the land of Ham.	23 E Israele venne in Egitto, Giacobbe visse nel paese di Cam come straniero.
24 God greatly increased his people, made them too many for their foes.	24 Ma Dio rese assai fecondo il suo popolo, lo rese più forte dei suoi nemici.
25 He turned their hearts to hate his people, to treat his servants unfairly.	25 Mutò il loro cuore e odiarono il suo popolo, contro i suoi servi agirono con inganno
26 He sent his servant Moses, Aaron whom he had chosen.	26 Mandò Mosè suo servo e Aronne che si era scelto.
27 They worked his signs in Egypt and wonders in the land of Ham.	27 Compì per mezzo loro i segni promessi e nel paese di Cam i suoi prodigi.
28 He sent darkness and it grew dark, but they rebelled against his word.	28 Mandò le tenebre e si fece buio, ma resistettero alle sue parole.
29 He turned their waters into blood and killed all their fish.	29 Cambiò le loro acque in sangue e fece morire i pesci.
30 Their land swarmed with frogs, even the chambers of their kings.	30 Il loro paese brulicò di rane fino alle stanze dei loro sovrani.
31 He spoke and there came swarms of flies, gnats through all their country.	31 Diede un ordine e le mosche vennero a sciami e le zanzare in tutto il loro paese.
32 For rain he gave them hail, flashes of lightning throughout their land.	32 Invece delle piogge mandò loro la grandine, vampe di fuoco sul loro paese.
33 He struck down their vines and fig trees, shattered the trees of their country.	33 Colpì le loro vigne e i loro fichi, schiantò gli alberi della loro terra.
34 He spoke and the locusts came, grass hoppers without number.	34 Diede un ordine e vennero le locuste e bruchi senza numero;
35 They devoured every plant in the land; they ravaged the crops of their fields.	35 divorarono tutta l'erba del paese e distrussero il frutto del loro suolo.
36 He struck down every firstborn in the land, the first fruits of all their vigor.	36 Colpì nel loro paese ogni primogenito, tutte le primizie del loro vigore.
37 He brought his people out, laden with silver and gold; no stragglers among the tribes.	37 Fece uscire il suo popolo con argento e oro, fra le tribù non c'era alcun infermo.
38 Egypt rejoiced when they left, for panic had seized them.	38 L'Egitto si rallegrò della loro partenza perché su di essi era piombato il terrore.
39 He spread a cloud as a cover, and made a fire to light up the night.	39 Distese una nube per proteggerli e un fuoco per illuminarli di notte.
40 They asked and he brought them quail; with bread from heaven he filled them.	40 Alla loro domanda fece scendere le quaglie e li saziò con il pane del cielo.
41 He split the rock and water gushed forth; it flowed through the desert like a river.	41 Spaccò una rupe e ne sgorgarono acque, scorrevano come fiumi nel deserto,
42 For he remembered his sacred word to Abraham his servant.	42 perché ricordò la sua parola santa data ad Abramo suo servo.
43 He brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with shouts of triumph.	43 Fece uscire il suo popolo con esultanza, i suoi eletti con canti di gioia.
44 He gave them the lands of the nations, the wealth of the peoples to own,	44 Diede loro le terre dei popoli, ereditarono la fatica delle genti,
45 That they might keep his laws and observe his teachings. Hallelujah!	45 perché custodissero i suoi decreti e obbedissero alle sue leggi. Alleluia.
