εις το τελος υπερ των αλλοιωθησομενων τοις υιοις κορε εις συνεσιν ωδη υπερ του αγαπητου | 1 For the leader. A maskil of the Korahites. |
εξηρευξατο η καρδια μου λογον αγαθον λεγω εγω τα εργα μου τω βασιλει η γλωσσα μου καλαμος γραμματεως οξυγραφου | 2 O God, we have heard with our own ears; our ancestors have told us The deeds you did in their days, with your own hand in days of old: |
ωραιος καλλει παρα τους υιους των ανθρωπων εξεχυθη χαρις εν χειλεσιν σου δια τουτο ευλογησεν σε ο θεος εις τον αιωνα | 3 You rooted out nations to plant them, crushed peoples to make room for them. |
περιζωσαι την ρομφαιαν σου επι τον μηρον σου δυνατε τη ωραιοτητι σου και τω καλλει σου | 4 Not with their own swords did they conquer the land, nor did their own arms bring victory; It was your right hand, your own arm, the light of your face for you favored them. |
και εντεινον και κατευοδου και βασιλευε ενεκεν αληθειας και πραυτητος και δικαιοσυνης και οδηγησει σε θαυμαστως η δεξια σου | 5 You are my king and my God, who bestows victories on Jacob. |
τα βελη σου ηκονημενα δυνατε λαοι υποκατω σου πεσουνται εν καρδια των εχθρων του βασιλεως | 6 Through you we batter our foes; through your name, trample our adversaries. |
ο θρονος σου ο θεος εις τον αιωνα του αιωνος ραβδος ευθυτητος η ραβδος της βασιλειας σου | 7 Not in my bow do I trust, nor does my sword bring me victory. |
ηγαπησας δικαιοσυνην και εμισησας ανομιαν δια τουτο εχρισεν σε ο θεος ο θεος σου ελαιον αγαλλιασεως παρα τους μετοχους σου | 8 You have brought us victory over our enemies, shamed those who hate us. |
σμυρνα και στακτη και κασια απο των ιματιων σου απο βαρεων ελεφαντινων εξ ων ηυφραναν σε | 9 In God we have boasted all the day long; your name we will praise forever. Selah |
θυγατερες βασιλεων εν τη τιμη σου παρεστη η βασιλισσα εκ δεξιων σου εν ιματισμω διαχρυσω περιβεβλημενη πεποικιλμενη | 10 But now you have rejected and disgraced us; you do not march out with our armies. |
ακουσον θυγατερ και ιδε και κλινον το ους σου και επιλαθου του λαου σου και του οικου του πατρος σου | 11 You make us retreat before the foe; those who hate us plunder us at will. |
οτι επεθυμησεν ο βασιλευς του καλλους σου οτι αυτος εστιν ο κυριος σου | 12 You hand us over like sheep to be slaughtered, scatter us among the nations. |
και προσκυνησουσιν αυτω θυγατερες τυρου εν δωροις το προσωπον σου λιτανευσουσιν οι πλουσιοι του λαου | 13 You sell your people for nothing; you make no profit from their sale. |
πασα η δοξα αυτης θυγατρος βασιλεως εσωθεν εν κροσσωτοις χρυσοις περιβεβλημενη πεποικιλμενη | 14 You make us the reproach of our neighbors, the mockery and scorn of those around us. |
απενεχθησονται τω βασιλει παρθενοι οπισω αυτης αι πλησιον αυτης απενεχθησονται σοι | 15 You make us a byword among the nations; the peoples shake their heads at us. |
απενεχθησονται εν ευφροσυνη και αγαλλιασει αχθησονται εις ναον βασιλεως | 16 All day long my disgrace is before me; shame has covered my face |
αντι των πατερων σου εγενηθησαν σοι υιοι καταστησεις αυτους αρχοντας επι πασαν την γην | 17 At the sound of those who taunt and revile, at the sight of the spiteful enemy. |
μνησθησονται του ονοματος σου εν παση γενεα και γενεα δια τουτο λαοι εξομολογησονται σοι εις τον αιωνα και εις τον αιωνα του αιωνος | 18 All this has come upon us, though we have not forgotten you, nor been disloyal to your covenant. |
Our hearts have not turned back, nor have our steps strayed from your path.
Yet you have left us crushed, desolate in a place of jackals; you have covered us with darkness.
If we had forgotten the name of our God, stretched out our hands to another god,
Would not God have discovered this, God who knows the secrets of the heart?
For you we are slain all the day long, considered only as sheep to be slaughtered.
Awake! Why do you sleep, O Lord? Rise up! Do not reject us forever!
Why do you hide your face; why forget our pain and misery?
We are bowed down to the ground; our bodies are pressed to the earth.
Rise up, help us! Redeem us as your love demands. |
