Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab upon mount Nebo, to the top of Phasga over against Jericho: and the Lord shewed him all the land of Galaad as far as Dan. | 1 Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, the headland of Pisgah which faces Jericho, and the LORD showed him all the land-Gilead, and as far as Dan, |
And all Nephtali, and the land of Ephraim and Manasses, and all the land of Juda unto the furthermost sea, | 2 all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, |
And the south part, and the breadth of the plain of Jericho the city of palm trees as far as Segor. | 3 the Negeb, the circuit of the Jordan with the lowlands at Jericho, city of palms, and as far as Zoar. |
And the Lord said to him: This is the land, for which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying: I will give it to thy seed. Thou hast seen it with thy eyes, and shalt not pass over to it. | 4 The LORD then said to him, "This is the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that I would give to their descendants. I have let you feast your eyes upon it, but you shall not cross over." |
And Moses the servant of the Lord died there, in the land of Moab, by the commandment of the Lord: | 5 So there, in the land of Moab, Moses, the servant of the LORD, died as the LORD had said; |
And he buried him in the valley of the land of Moab over against Phogor: and no man hath known of his sepulchre until this present day. | 6 and he was buried in the ravine opposite Beth-peor in the land of Moab, but to this day no one knows the place of his burial. |
Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, neither were his teeth moved. | 7 Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were undimmed and his vigor unabated. |
And the children of Israel mourned for him in the plains of Moab thirty days: and the days of their mourning in which they mourned for Moses were ended. | 8 For thirty days the Israelites wept for Moses in the plains of Moab, till they had completed the period of grief and mourning for Moses. |
And Josue the son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, because Moses had laid his hands upon him. And the children of Israel obeyed him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses. | 9 Now Joshua, son of Nun, was filled with the spirit of wisdom, since Moses had laid his hands upon him; and so the Israelites gave him their obedience, thus carrying out the LORD'S command to Moses. |
And there arose no more a prophet in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, | 10 Since then no prophet has arisen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face. |
In all the signs and wonders, which he sent by him, to do in the land of Egypt to Pharao, and to all his servants, and to his whole land, | 11 He had no equal in all the signs and wonders the LORD sent him to perform in the land of Egypt against Pharaoh and all his servants and against all his land, |
And all the mighty hand, and great miracles, which Moses did before all Israel. | 12 and for the might and the terrifying power that Moses exhibited in the sight of all Israel. |
